Happy Tuesday, Natalie! 😊 We're at the conclusion of the latest Star Wars show. This is one of my favorite episodes of the season(series). We got an epic rematch between Obi-Wan and Vader. We got to see a little bit more of young Luke. We to see Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru being total badasses while trying to protect Luke from Reva. Just seeing that makes me look at their deaths in "A New Hope" differently. We got the meeting between Obi-Wan and Luke. And we got FREAKING QUI-GON JINN at the end of the episode!!!! Eventhough it was only for a short scene at the end, it was so great seeing Liam Neeson's cameo. Not to mention Ian McDiarmid's quick cameo as the Emperor Palpatine was fantastic as well. That last exchange between Obi-Wan and Vader always gets me a little misty eyed. Ewan McGregor did a fantastic job in that scene. And Ioved how it was a mix of Hayden Christensen's and James Earl Jones' voices during that last scene. And then we see Leia is already becoming a rebel leader in the making. That last scene with Obi-Wan and Leia was so sweet. Again, if you're not planning on watching "The Book of Boba Fett", at least consider watching the last three episodes. It's extremely important to do that before you watch season 3 of "The Mandalorian". Even before you watch the trailer when it comes out. Otherwise, you'll be somewhat confused going into season 3. Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Hi Nat, I’m wondering when you’re gonna announce in what direction you’re gonna be taking on the Marvel Daredevil front, because I’m anxious to get back into it, I haven’t seen Jessica Jones season 1 since it aired on Netflix, and also on a totally different subject it think it’s high time for another James Bond movie, it’s been a while and I feel you still haven’t really experienced true Bond yet, Daniel Craig’s bond is more action. This will not be popular, but I feel for all the things that drive your passions in movies from what you’ve told us you should watch ON HiS MAJESTIES SECRET SERVICE it has all the elements you love plus some breathtaking scenery. Plus you’ll need your tissues, now this has got you wondering!!

Bou Sculpts

Has Nat's volume being a bit low recently or is it just me? I have her video on max volume and sometimes it's hard to hear her over the sound on the show.

Henkan

Just speaking on my own behalf here, but: I actually kind of hope that you move away from the Marvel/Disney shows. I was extremely pleasantly surprised when you watched Ted Lasso - I had never heard of the show, and when it showed up as your reaction on my Patreon feed, I was intrigued. I decided to watch it, and then do a follow-up watch-along with you, and that was just such a blast! The problem with these new Marvel/Disney things happening is that they don't deliver anything new, they just ride on existing hype from several decades ago, and the writing/production of the shows just seem subpar. I would love for your Patreon channel to be a kind of "eye-opener" for followers, the way I was introduced to Ted Lasso, but for other lesser known series and movies. Off the top of my head are some shows that I've watched that I try to encourage people to give a chance instead of the cookie cutter Marvel/Disney stuff: - Devs (sci-fi miniseries by Alex Garland, who directed Ex Machina and Annihilation). - The Little Drummer Girl ("realistic" spy story set in the 70s, written by Le Carré, and directed by Park Chan-wook) - Severance (it's actually kind of popular already, but it's superbly well-made so far, although I have some hesitations about future plot point resolutions)

K.N.

FYI Nat I think the content warning is due to the scenes of Reva hunting and trying to kill Luke. Disney probably put it up due to the violence against children aspect since the Uvalde shooting had happened recently.

Bou Sculpts

Definitely, because I'm watching outside of the US and I didn't get that message.

Bou Sculpts

The sad thing is, reactors have to go for the most popular series/shows to attract viewers for the most part. As for her recent shows, I think it has been a bit of everything. A bit of Euphoria, a bit of Disney+ Marvel, A bit of Star Wars, Daredevil (even if that's Marvel, the tone and the series is completely different)

Darryl Low

Nat sorted her volume issue during her livestream on Friday. These 2 reactions were recorded before that, so hopefully you should hear a difference in the Nat's next reactions.

john collins

As great as that light-saber battle was, this whole show really felt like a highlight real of what could have been a decent like 12 episode series or maybe movie and sequel or something.

Boomcity

The disclaimers were due to imagery of kids being killed. I think this was around the time of a school shooting. ☹️

Daniel Green

I just watched Nat’s reaction. She was a little confused when Ben met Luke as she thought they hadn’t met before, but it is clear from the dialogue in A New Hope that they have. After seeing Leia’s hologram calling for ObiWan, Luke says… “I wonder if she means old Ben Kenobi. I don’t know anyone named ObiWan, but old Ben lives out beyond the Dune Sea. Kind of a strange old hermit” So, they have definitely met a few times, but Luke only knows him as old Ben

Tay Schumaker

This is the only full length I watched, were they all this snarky?

Erik Stevenson

I agree it's possible it would have benefited from more episodes (like Nat highlighted, especially if that time was spent diving into the characters more deeply) but my biggest problem with the series was the script which didn't even use it's 6 existing episodes particularly well anyway. In 6 episodes we have two episodes where we go somewhere to rescue a captured Leia - wild repetition.

J.C.G.

Nat touches on an interesting thought at the end there. When the Netflix marvel stuff came out, one of the more prevalent criticisms was that those series suffered from 'bloat', with the seasons seeming to be drawn out to fit a certain amount of episodes/run time. As Disney+ came out and looked at their "limited" series, so many follow this formula of 6 episode runs. The interesting thing is that on the business-side of these enterprises, they are looking for that "magic number" of episodes that they can rely on for consistent production-to-return ratio, and the creative teams get to work within those confines - to varying degrees of success.

Matthew

This could have been a story told in four episodes rather than six, but I think fans would feel shorted. It seems many short-run series -- like Picard, for example -- can't decide if its story should be told in a tighter feature-length version or as a conventional episodic season's arc. If anything, hopefully, this turns Nat onto taking a look at the work of fan-edits. There are a few worthy.

Henkan

"reactors have to go for the most popular series/shows to attract viewers for the most part." <- Do they, at this level though? That's why I mentioned the Ted Lasso example (anecdotal experience though as it is). I understand that you need might need to maintain a core audience, but doing that and only that for months is specialization.

Jayson Phillips

Did you know that Tatooine was named for the town in Africa where they filmed luke's home in Star Wars?

Jayson Phillips

It because of her having flashbacks of Anakin killing the younglings

Anomaly

As someone who felt quite burnt out by the massive number of episodes in the Marvel Netflix shows I was super happy Disney has been keeping the length quite short - However with this series and most of the other Dis+ series recently I do feel like the 6 episode limit has been a huge hindrance to the storytelling and ends up forcing the writers to 'tell' rather than 'show' with a lot of plot points.

Anomaly

Ahh yeah that makes sense - I live in Canada and I never got that content warning. Must be only a US thing

Bou Sculpts

I definitely won't miss this show either, Nat. Although I still have hopes for Andor, the trailer looks pretty dope.

Brian Jones

Ah yes, the pièce de résistance... The icing on the cake... The absolute crack smoking writer fueled shitfest that is the finale to this dumpster fire of a show. Here's a list of the things that made absolutely no sense in THIS episode of Obi-Wan. Star Destroyers can't hit shit for some magical reason. Nor can they deploy a group of tie fighters to go after the transport ship. Because hey, nothing else in this show made sense, so why start now?!?!?🤪 So we establish the hyperdrive isn't working on the transport ship and is "going to take more time than we have" to fix according to the captain. Yet not even a few beats later the same poorly written idiot tries to convince Kenobi not to go because "we're so close". WTF?!?!?🤷 Reva, who was run through the gut with a lightsaber and left for dead in a hangar on a completely different planet, with no means of transportation whatsoever, has now magically found herself on Tatooine, because fuck any audience member who has a brain. 🖕😂🖕 Vader's magic powers to grab a ship and literally rip it apart are still on cooldown, because, reasons... And remain on cooldown for the rest of the show. Kenobi now leaves in an even smaller ship. Because there now were apparently not one, not two, but THREE ships in that hangar in the last episode. Even further compounding the complete nonsense of everyone having to be on the one ship together and making that episode utterly meaningless. And again, Vader can't force grab or rip apart, nor can he simply detach a squadron of tie fighters to intercept. Because reasons... So we take a star destroyer to chase after Kenobi, without sending ships after the transport, or bothering to put a tracker on it or anything. But keep consuming latest product people. This is good stuff.😂👍 Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru decide in their infinite wisdom, rather than running to some completely unknown place in the desert and hiding, to tell Luke to wait in a tiny room while they plan on ambushing a fully trained force user. Get that? They think they stand a chance against a sith inquisitor. But sure, let's roll with it. 🤦 So back on planet "worst color pallet ever, with a touch of fog" (because our CGI is for shit on this show so we need as much darkness as possible to hide it), Vader has decided that he again won't just nuke the ship and Kenobi from orbit and would rather go down personally to exact his revenge. Vader's first line on our new darkly envisioned hellscape is "Have you come to destroy me?"... VADER JUST LITERALLY CAME TO HIM!!! But again, meh, you're a brainless loser (at least in the eyes of the writers) who's been pumped up to see this final dual so why would you be paying attention to dialogue? Kenobi strikes fighting pose, brainless apologist screams "HE DID THE THING!!!!", all is better. So we now enter one of the most awkwardly staged lightsaber fights ever. There are literally fans on YouTube that choreograph better looking duals than this, but hey, whatever.🤷 Back on Tatooine, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru shoot about as accurately as stormtroopers, yet somehow come out of this confrontation completely unscathed. Get that, two moisture farmers survive a run-in with a sith inquisitor by throwing boxes at her and such. But hey, sure, makes total sense. Uncle Owen asks what Reva wants and her response? "Justice." For who??? For what??? LOL... Vengeance would have made sense, but justice???😂 So at this point I'll just refrain from making fun of the ridiculously staged lightsaber fight and push on to the complete and utter absurdity of Vader having Kenobi on the ropes, even to the point of being buried under rubble, but then simply walks away rather than making sure he's finished the job. GET THAT?? Vader, who's been so consumed with coming after Kenobi, after "letting" him get away once in a dazzling display of stupidity and incompetence (that according to the apologists he walked away from because it "wasn't enough of a challenge for him") doesn't bother at all to make sure he got the job done. Vader, the most formidable dark side user in the universe, renowned for his reputation of leaving no survivors, just walks the fuck away from his lifelong friend and now nemesis thinking, "yeah, that definitely got him" without seeing the body. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK IS THIS SHOW?!?!?!? Apparently his ability to sense the presence of others, especially Kenobi of all people, is on cooldown.😂 So now Kenobi reaches deep inside himself to find the will to discard the rock surrounding him, and sure enough, this will arrives in the form of Qui-Gon finally speaking to him... Wait, no, scratch that. Luke, the child he's been protecting for a decade gives him the strength to break free!!!... Nope, not that either. The little girl he's been running around with for a few days gives him all the motivation he needs. BY THE POWER OF LEIA!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 So now, get this, the tables have turned and Kenobi has Vader on the ropes. Beaten, helmet slashed up (because "HEY THEY DID THE THING!!!!" again), broken, and breathless... And after a tired speech of "HE SAID THE THING!!!" type lines, what does Kenobi do??? Does he finally finish the job, putting an end to one of the most powerful darkside users in the galaxy? Finally closing the book on what he thought he had finished years ago in RotS, knowing he would eliminate countless years of further suffering and death??? Nah... He walks the fuck away... Get that??? He... Walks... The... Fuck... Away... 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 But wait, there's more... Now that Reva has left both Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru alive through sheer incompetence, she walks out into the desert after Luke. She eventually finds him, knocks him out, because convenience, because we certainly can't have Luke actually understanding or remembering any of these events. And rather than finally finishing the job she came to do and ultimately getting the revenge she wanted after mowing down numerous people throughout the last ten years and cutting off what I'm sure were countless appendages and such, she has a convenient and completely magical change of heart and carries him back to the farm. 😂🤦 Meanwhile, Knobi sensing Luke is in trouble hops in his ship (you know, the one he and Leia could have taken an episode ago) and jumps to hyperspace. Get that? THEY HAD A SHIP CAPABLE OF LIGHTSPEED THE WHOLE TIME. 😂🤦 So he makes it back to Tatooine in record time, to LEAVE REVA ALIVE!!! He knows she's conflicted, knows she's been the cause of countless deaths and the hunting and killing of Jedi, but in his infinite wisdom he LEAVES HER ALIVE!!!!! Because Disney has to leave the door open so there is a NEXT PRODUCT TO CONSUME. 😂🤦 Cut to the exchange with Vader and the Emperor where Vader now says "Kenobi means nothing". WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK?!?!?😂🤣😂🤣 Cut to Alderaan, where 10 year old Leia is wearing her new holster and yet again acting like adult Leia for no apparent reason. Obi-Wan pops up, again leaving Luke defenseless on Tatooine right after leaving both Vader and Reva (who now knows where Luke lives) alive to do whatever the hell they want. All to deliver the heartwarming speech about her real parents. They hug, and scene. But remember folks, when we get to A New Hope, she has absolutely no familiarity whatsoever with Kenobi at all past her father fighting with him in the Clone Wars.😂🤦 Cut back to Tatooine, where Kenobi actually meets Luke. Get that?? He meets Luke and not only "SAYS THE THING!!!!", but also "GIVES HIM THE THING!!!!". Something else Luke apparently has no memory of even though he's playing with the same toy 10 years later in ANH.🤦 So finally Kenobi, now heading off into the sunset of this complete and utter shitfest, sees Qui-gon. After 10 years of trying and failing to contact him and eventually giving up, does he show up in Obi-Wan's greatest time of need??? Nah, he just magically shows up on a stroll through the desert. But it's all good because... yep, you guessed it... "THEY DID THE THING!!!!!".🤣👍 Thank God this dumpster fire of a show is over. To those that enjoyed it, more power to you, but this was quite possibly the worst written show in existence. Disney would be better off putting the script writing duties in the hands of Tommy Wiseau next time around.😂🤣😂🤣

Brian Jones

On a side note... It would be really nice if Patreon could manage to put even the slightest smidge of effort into their coding for their comment sections. I love it when you simply edit for a misspelling and your entire comment vanishes into the ether.😂

Danishprince

Not purely only do popular content but yes even at this level it's needed in order to maintain the viewers. Just look at the video views of the various shows on her YT - Less popular shows barely gets any views

Natalie Gold

Apologies! It should be better for some future reactions

Philip Davetas

People have been saying that STAR WARS has always been bad which is the exuse for recent endeavors not being as well-loved. There may be some truth to that. But in the past there was at least a consistency and you were moving forward. Now you have multiple properties from sparse regions of Hollywood trying to patch up old stories with new characters that should've been in the final battles of the original trilogy. Andor dies in ROGUE ONE. I don't know why I need to see a show about his origin. I don't see why can't we get new characters in other parts of the galaxy. The Empire didn't just pick on Han, Luke and Leia. They had other species to beat up on. Even after the Death Star II blew up, they still had battles afterwards. As bad at it was, the BATTLEFRONT II campaign had a story that could be expanded with new characters. I mean, you can even still do the sequel trilogy content and still do current character additions. I think parts of Lucasfilm are focused on the wrong properties. I think what they need is a central leader who knows how to guide all these stories with forward momentum instead of patching up the past.

Philip Davetas

I'm not sure Nat's doing MANDO 3. She said a couple eps back that MANDO 2 was a perfect ending for her and she doesn't need anymore. But I would agree those last three eps are essential. However, I think they were forced to patch that up because Luke was originally thought to take have taken Grogu away to Luke's Jedi temple where Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren killed everyone. Fans freaked out about that so, they felt they needed to address that in BOBA FETT before MANDO 3.

Bou Sculpts

They need a Kevin Feige, but all they have is a Kathleen Kennedy. They are too afraid to move away from the Skywalkers, but when they do, you can get some good pieces of content, as shown with The Mandalorian or Rebels, with just the right amount of jedi/Skywalker content sprinkled around.

Bou Sculpts

Yes yes. Everyone that doesn't like the same things you do is a racist, mysoginist, homophobic piece of trash. We got it. Move along sir, please.

Brian Jones

Agree with you 150%, but sadly nothing sells merch like familiarity. If I had a dime for every person that said "HE SAID THE THING!!!", or "HE DID THE THING!!!", or "THERE'S THE FAMILIAR THING!!!" after the episodes of this show I'd be a millionaire. Got to keep that nostalgia train running. I for one would love it if they took a beat and explored the Old Republic era. Or as you said, went the completely original route and just wrote their own new stories. But apparently Skywalker saga means money, which means feed people as much latest product as possible that makes them feel warm inside about their past regardless of quality.

Axel Dietze

That must be it. I don't get this disclaimer on the German version (which throws off the watch-along timing as well)

Nathan Smith

For someone who doesn’t like the show you certainly have a lot to say. No one is going to read all this shit

Jenny Tolls

Damn I would hate to watch anything with you lol. There was wayyy to much nitpicking to take your comment seriously. It's a show about space warriors that use telekinesis to do battle, there's gonna be some major plot holes lol. You're pissed that Reva could come back from being stabbed in the gut but totally cool with Anakin being burned to a crisp from a VOLCANO? But Reva coming back is too much? Idk I think your expectations were way too high. I know the show could've made some better decisions but it is not nearly as bad as you describe it to be. Perhaps this universe just isn't for you?

Bou Sculpts

If you don't like a show: "You're just hating for no reason" If you give reasons: "Wow dude, nobody cares" I'ts much better not liking something but knowing why than saying you love it and being blind to the flaws.

Brian Jones

@Luis Santos - I know you'll never get it because you just don't enjoy the things you like being criticized, especially when the flaws are so blatantly apparent, but I'll say it one more time for the cheap seats... Like what you want, but don't go projecting whatever hang-ups you have about it's failings on to the people that simply point them out and make light of them. It just looks laughably petty. I do love Star Wars. Always have. Have been with it since I saw ANH in theaters in 1977. There's a ton of Star Wars I enjoy, and there's a ton of Star Wars I would like to see burn in a trash fire. Hopefully, and I do still leave the door open for hope, Andor or some other show will come along and completely change my mind regarding the horrible direction this franchise has taken. But at this point it's going to take one hell of a miracle. Just have to wait and see how it all turns out.

Steve J

It's because if every character isn't intimately connected to every other character along with a heaping serving of memberberries the studio assumes nobody will show up to watch. After the success of Mando S1 seems like they would start to have a bit more courage to branch out into completely new stories. Instead we get repeated prequel/origin story that never have any stakes because we already know the ending

Bou Sculpts

Luis Santos move along sir. Consume next product. Praise big company no matter what.

Richard Orr

Excellent reaction Nat, totally agree with your comments at the end. Enjoyable series, but fear is Disney will keep churning out new series and connecting as much as they can with the OT. I hope Obi-wans story is now told. I know Hayden will be back for the new Ahsoka series. They just want to keep making more SW stuff for the new generation but keep having cameos of some of the older characters. I'm new here, so just trying out a comment. Look forward to your next reaction Nat, especially more Stranger Things :)

Daniel Vezina

Hearing who the Hermit is and actually meeting him are 2 different things.

Danishprince

I have seen doctoral thesis's smaller than this xD

Brian Jones

@Nathan Smith - Well sure Nathan, what do you expect, there's an entire smorgasbord of things to criticize. Don't blame me, blame the fresh off the bus writers who apparently couldn't write their way out of a wet paper bag.😂🤷

Brian Jones

@Luis Santos - "You’re more than welcome to not like the show. Nobody cares." Apparently you do as you continue to comment on my every post. It's like you've been hanging on my every word.😂 As per the usual, there is no requirement for you to engage. "calling them dumb for liking one show" Hasn't happened once. Not a single time. In fact, it's been quite the opposite.🤷 "nobody is denying the flaws we can all see." Oh come now Luis, you've been posing as an expert at doing just that throughout the entire run of this reaction series.😂 "You’re allowed to voice your concerns, but do so in a way that isn’t condescending or insulting of other people. " Meaning in a way that doesn't have a possibility of offending your over-sensitivity to the flaws in the things you love. Thank you again for your permission Luis. I will certainly continue to do so... In whatever form I desire.😏👍

Steve J

I'd say from the context of ANH it seems clear that Luke has at least met Ben a few times. Luke recognizes him immediately after waking up without either of them saying anything.

J.C.G.

I think part of that desire to revisit these characters is that we are getting to the point where people from the Original Trilogy can't or won't be back again, so I am sure that someone in the Disney upper echelons is thinking to 'use them before we loose them' in regards to folks from the prequels.

Bou Sculpts

@Luis Santos next time try posting that kind of message before insulting anyone with a different opinion. Nobody in this Patreon has done a single mysoginistic or racist comment, and yet you dare compare anyone with a negative opinion about this show with that kind of people. "Huh, you remind me of the M-She-U and He's Not My Captain people" Brian did an elaborate development on his gripes on the show, and you're the one that came here bashing him. It's like if critizising your favourite franchise is a personal insult for you. Sometimes opening your eyes can hurt, but it's worth it in the end. Anyway, you do you, my man. I for once will keep watching Star Wars and (as you called it) M-She-U content because they are, for the most part, entertaining to see (with a few exceptions, such as this show). With females, males, black, yellow or white protagonists, because I'm not one of those 👍

Bou Sculpts

Oh, that shouldn't be an issue. They already "revived" Peter Cushing via CGI (although that CGI was a bit rough still) and they are doing miracles in Book Of Bobba Fett (not spoiling, but you know what I mean). So at this point... not even death can stop Disney from milking nostalgia! :D

Brian Jones

Yeah, isn't it sort of ironic that Disney's most original Star Wars idea, and certainly their best show or movie to date since they acquired the IP, is also the one that probably sold the most single item merch with the entirely new character of Grogu? One would think they would take the hint. But nah.

Bou Sculpts

Well, light saber battles in Star Wars have never been realistic for that matter. In the prequels they were pretty flashy and acrobatic, but they were also really fake, from a realistic point of view. It's even worst on the sequels, because they are not even flashy and spectacular.

Jenny Tolls

I just noticed something after rewatching the series again. The camera is shakey for most of the scenes with Vader especially when he's angry. At the end when he's speaking to Palpatine, the camera goes from shakey to completely still to signify his transition from an angry man looking for revenge to a stoic coldblooded cyborg that we know and see in the original trilogy. I thought that was done very well.

Brian Jones

Yeah, got to go with Bou on this one. They are literally penning it into actors contracts now to allow the likeness to be used in future films and shows. So sadly, I don't see any impending end to the continual trudge through the Skywalker saga so long as it's paying the bills.

Christopher

The disclaimer for disturbing scenes is because this series came out a few days after the Uvalde School shooting and since this show features scenes from Order 66 and children being murdered by Anakin, it could strike a nerve and make viewers uncomfortable.

Myles Away

This episode has the only good scene in the entire series but still feels awkward because the outcome is already known. So they have to write in non-sensical plot points like Obi-Wan just leaving Darth Vader alive so Obi-Wan can later convince Vader's son (while lying about who Darth Vader is) to kill him. It's just ridiculous. This series was terribly executed. 1.5/5

Myles Away

Snarky? or just realistic? This show has a lot of issues and anyone with taste will call them out.

Austin

To all of you who completely trash this show, what did you actually expect? It was obvious before I even watched any episodes that this series would be mostly filler, which is actually okay. It's okay for things to be mediocre but some of you don't seem to understand that, to you, everything either has to be a 10/10 or you think its a 1/10. They were not going to be able to tell story that adds to much context to the universe, since this series is sandwiched between episodes 3 and 4. Idk what you all think is so awful about this show, honestly, some of you must be miserable to be around, you complain this much about Star Wars, you know, a movie and tv show franchise that does not actually impact the quality of our lives. You let it make you this mad, you flood any and every comments section with negativity every chance you get, you let yourselves get caught up in the tiniest of details that the average person doesn't care about, so here's my take away, a lot of you should stop watching any Disney produced Star Wars content, cuz nothing is good enough for you, right? This show is a 6/10 for me, unlike most of you, I can still have fun with a show or film even when it's mediocre, because again, it's not that fucking deep. Finally to the ever complaining SW fan boys, start writing and selling your Star Wars scripts to Disney if you think you know better than everyone else, i'm sure they'll jump at the chance to read your groundbreaking screenplays.

Paul R Peddy

I'm pretty sure that the disclaimers on this episode and the last one are because of the order 66 scenes when kids were being killed. Keep in mind this came out a but after those string of school shootings that occurred in like the past 2 months before Kenobi came out. The same thing happened with the last season of stranger things. Not spoiling anything but there were scenes evolving dead children so they put the disclaimer up since that season was released right after a school shooting. Like a day or two after or something. That's what I think at least

Marty McGee

Just curious. Did you actually watch Nat's reaction to the show? If you did I'm just curious why you would do so when you clearly hate it. If you didn't watch it, why would you take the time to write all these comments each time Nat posts an episode? Not trying to be an asshole here. I'm sincerely fascinated in your response to her reacting to this show. Edit: Also I'm with you on the Patreon commenting woes. I hate having to remember shift-enter to separate paragraphs. I can't tell you how many posts I've sent prematurely because I just pressed enter.

Bou Sculpts

You're still allowed to complain about a poorly prepared Big Mac even though you perfectly know it's just fast food. Since everybody is allowed to voice their opinions on anything, I don't see it being that bad. Critizising can lead to improvements (compare the de-aging on Mando S2 with the one done on BoBF for example) I really don't care that much about this show. I would rate it more or less like you, in the 5/10 or 6/10. But saying "it's just Star Wars, don't nitpick so much" is a really poor defense of the show.

Ortizmo

Austin, it can all be summed up with a simple phrase: "Fanboys".

Bou Sculpts

Afaik, fanboys are those who defend their favourite products no matter what, but I can be wrong

Brian Jones

"It's okay for things to be mediocre" Ah yes, the aspirations of any artist who ever wanted to write, create, act, or direct... The lofty goal of mediocrity. "They were not going to be able to tell story that adds to much context to the universe" You could have easily done more with a simple character study on Obi-Wan and his life on Tatooine. Maybe a town he needs to save, a lost cause he needs to help, or even a final run-in with Maul who's now hanging around the universe due to canon. And you certainly could have made it more interesting and believable than this complete pile of canon breaking garbage that didn't even understand it's own characters. "You let it make you this mad" Nope, not personally mad at all. Just highly disappointed that Disney quite obviously doesn't care about the quality of the show they produce, regardless of the fact that it's now a 4 generation IP that's quite endearing to millions of fans. All they care about is the quick buck. "a lot of you should stop watching any Disney produced Star Wars content, cuz nothing is good enough for you" Again, not true, as was shown by the pretty warm response that was given to The Mandalorian. The one shining light since they've acquired the IP. "Finally to the ever complaining SW fan boys, start writing and selling your Star Wars scripts to Disney" Oh I have no doubt in the slightest that there is a never ending supply of great scripts already out there. Hell, there's an entire catalog of books spanning decades that have now been relegated to "legend" status by Disney, many of which that have stories that are MILES better than this dumpster fire. The existence of good writing isn't the problem. The problem is Disney either not caring enough to use it, or being too blind to actually know what a good story is. Either of which spells bad news for fans.🙄

Again there are obvious issues with the writing in this show. But the lightsaber duel and the conversation with the dual voices and dual lighting choices was great! Also love the scene with Vader and the Emperor. It shows the iron grip hold that Palpatine still has on him at this point. As nice as it was seeing Qui-Gon again it was pretty pointless unless it's some sort of set up. Which I hope it isn't. I was never invested in Reva as a character so her backstory and "redemption" arc meant very little to me. I know some people disagree with me, but the acting was stellar in this show. It's just a shame the writing and dialogue was abysmal at times. I still love it though. I enjoyed seeing Obi-Wan dealing with PTSD and finding purpose. I enjoyed seeing Owen and Beru as loving and protective parents. I enjoyed little Leia and seeing the qualities she had as an adult being visible when she was a child. I enjoyed seeing the fledgling beginnings of the Rebellion. I enjoyed seeing Vader as a badass duelist again. Star Wars, good, mediocre, or bad is a franchise that brings me joy. I will not apologize for that.

Bou Sculpts

Even I had tears in my eyes during the Anakin/Vader conversation with Obi Wan after the duel. That's definitely the highlight of the show. A sweet dessert after a not-so-great meal.

Brian Jones

@Hold Your Fire - "Not trying to be an asshole here." Not at all, fair questions. In regards to her reaction to the show, I don't think I've really made any comments either way other than finding it amusing that she also saw much of the crazy and nonsensical laziness in the writing. Reacting to the show is her choice (or the peoples choice in the case of a poll). I wouldn't begrudge her reacting to anything at all, no matter what the content is (other than a year straight of Netflix Marvel, that was a rare exception:), but personally I've only watched the intro's and outro's of her reactions to Obi-Wan as the flaws of this show were pretty much seared into my brain the first time around. The above comment was done off memory. I don't think I could put myself through a full re-watch of this mess again.😏 As to why do I comment? Same reason everyone else does. Just to speak my piece about a particular show or film. Or a related comment if I happen to spot one while I'm here.🤷

Brian Jones

@Luis Santos - Last time I respond to you concerning this show Luis. I've done almost everything I can to be specific in singling out my criticisms were with the show, not the people who enjoyed it. I've even said on multiple occasions that "if you enjoyed this show despite it's many flaws, more power to you. I'm happy for you." You've gone out of your way to turn that into a personal feud, and now gone even further out of your way to prolong that feud. The show is over. Are you capable of moving past that now?🤷

Bou Sculpts

@Luis Santos you're the perfect example of "steel fist, crystal jaw". See you never my dude. Get better. Go out, touch grass. There's much better ways to have fun than defending your favourite company on the internet

John

The biggest flaws were time and writing. They tried to condense too much into too little time and the writing wasn't up to par. That had some ideas for an arc for Obi-Wan, which was good. Then they did some scenes showing us all the nostalgia and toys we've been collecting, put it all in a blender and dumped out a min-series. Stuff that doesn't make sense, like a Imperial Star Destroyer can't chase both a transport with a broken hyperdrive and an escape ship at the same time? If only there were other ships or maybe fighters on the star destroyer they could use, right? Then, Reva getting stabbed with a light saber, crawling on the ground at the end of Ep5, then beginning of Ep6 she's not only walking around reasonably well, she's already on Tattooine. Crappy writing and editing, because explaining how she got from point A to B would take too much time. And if she's hunting Vader and failed to kill him, what was her motivation for going after Luke? How was killing him supposed to give her justice? No sensible motivation there. But if you can look past those problems, you do get to see the arc Obi-Wan goes through from a broken Jedi after losing the Republic, his friend and his hope for the future in Revenge of the Sith to coming to terms with the loss and getting back in touch with himself and finding a new hope in Leia and Luke. And the last thing he sees as he smiles just before surrendering himself to the Force in A New Hope, was Luke and Leia reunited.

Joe Angeles

Don't want to give out any spoilers but the Obi Wan/Vader fight reminds me of another lightsaber duel in SW Rebels

Thomas Richter

Disney was torned between a kids show and a grown up show. They couldn't make up their mind and it landed in some uncanny valley of silly suspension of dibelief and violence that took me out of the show entirely. they've done it so much better in Star Wars Rebels. Which I recommend over any of the new trilogy movies

Brian Jones

Severance is probably one of the best new and original science fiction shows out there right now. Pretty incredible writing, original idea, and a solid production all the way around with some really great acting performances. Would absolutely love it if she did a reaction to it. But unfortunately it's not likely to win any polls, and as you pointed out, isn't part of the Disney IP conveyer belt of madness. Awesome show though, and it's good to see it has some fans here.

Christopher Robles

Honestly I'd love a rebels reactions. It's so grown up imo compared to the clone wars. It's like they targeted an age group with clone wars. Then however much time passed, targeted that same kid, now a maturing teen with rebels.

Brian Jones

This is why my initial reaction to the premise of the show was a huge facepalm. There were countless ways to tell a good Obi-Wan story without having to force a ham-fisted confrontation with Vader into it. Let alone make the same mistake twice in six short episodes. They know immediately going in it's going to be a futile effort to make that somehow jive with canon for multiple reasons, they know it means zero stakes and then compound that by adding Leia to the mix, and then they worsen the problem exponentially by writing ALL of the characters against type. I know I've already said it multiple times in other comments, but that writers room must have been staffed by interns on a steady supply of crack cocaine. As a writer, why would you back yourself into a narrative corner like that? I mean sure it makes perfect sense from a corporate point of view as it get's the fanboys hyped for the show (and even keeps some of them around defending the indefensible as it turns to shit), and maybe it initially sells you more merch, but it makes zero logical sense whatsoever if your goal is to tell a great story. And at the end of the day, you stain the legacy of your franchise...Again... As if Star Wars hasn't already done enough damage to it's fanbase in the past. I've never been one to go out of my way to bash Kathleen Kennedy, but at some point you have to point to the overall management of this mess and say maybe it's time for a change. Someone who actually cares more about the direction and legacy of the franchise than they do about the quick buck. Tell interesting and intriguing stories with depth and care. Make THAT your priority and the money will come in time, and the payoff will be tenfold what it is now.

Christopher Robles

Agreed, I love star wars but obi wan has a ton of flaws. Mandalorian was better executed imo, but it also had flaws.

Thomas Richter

also, SW Rebels starts about 4 years after the events of Obi-wan kenobi. which is fitting. And there is so much more character development

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

I cannot recommend Marcel the Shell With Shoes On enough. It's somehow perfect and I really hope we can get a first-watch reaction from you when it starts streaming.

Anomaly

EXACTLY. This is exactly their problem with both Star wars and Marvel. They can't decide who they're making these shows/movies for. They come up with extremely interesting, thought provoking ideas, and then dumb them down like they're making them for audiences of 6 year olds. They really need to decide who they're making things for. Doing movies/shows for children is fine. Doing things for adults is fine. But their lack of decisiveness holds everything back in very direction. I would enjoy their productions 10x more if they would just pick a direction and go with it.

Matt cooke

I think the argument that this has no stakes because we know where it ends up is half true but it’s the journey , character development etc, otherwise the r prequel movies all have the same problem , we know obiwan doesn’t die. We know Anakin does , yoda doesn’t , emperor doesn’t. It’s about the journey for me and the fight between vader and obiwan in this is a good example . It doesn’t need to be a. Ask if who dies, it’s the emotional aspects that make this fight great .

Brian Jones

@Jenny Tolls - "There was wayyy to much nitpicking to take your comment seriously. It's a show about space warriors that use telekinesis to do battle, there's gonna be some major plot holes lol." There certainly don't have to be. Only if you're aiming for mediocrity, which apparently the writers of this show were damned and determined to do. You see, you can work within a mystical universe with the most outlandish of rules and fantastical of powers, and still stay canonical and remain sensible within those established rules. It's been done countless times in multiple franchises. You're just excusing shit writing.🤷 "You're pissed that Reva could come back from being stabbed in the gut but totally cool with Anakin being burned to a crisp from a VOLCANO?" Hey Jenny, do you know what didn't happen after Anakin was burned to a crisp? Do you? He didn't magically teleport to another planet with absolutely zero explanation whatsoever for how he got there and simply act like he had no wound at all while continuing right along with his mission of vengeance. You know what he did do? He acted as one would act if they were lucky enough to survive such an encounter. He writhed in pain and agony until luckily someone came along and saved him. You know, because sensible writing within a fantastical universe.🤷 "But Reva coming back is too much?" No, Reva coming back was just ONE MORE thing to add on to the heaping pile of countless idiocies and ridiculousness that took place throughout this show. One more thing the writers didn't seem to give enough of a damn about to actually make it even reasonably plausible or sensible.🤷 "Idk I think your expectations were way too high. I know the show could've made some better decisions but it is not nearly as bad as you describe it to be." When I can make a list easily this long for every single episode of this show? When I can point to, at the very least,10 things within every segment of a 6 part series that either make absolutely no sense, violate the characters and lore of the established universe, or just come off as being blatantly ridiculous? Yeah, I'd say it's EASILY as bad as I'm describing it to be. I'll go one step further and say that it is, beyond any shadow of a doubt (barring the Star Wars Christmas special that's been banished off the face of the earth), the worst written Star Wars show or film to date. And the things I've listed here, and could gladly list about every other individual episode, aren't even me being nitpicky. I didn't even have to try.🙄 "Perhaps this universe just isn't for you?" Nope. Been a Star Wars fan since A New Hope hit theaters in 77, certainly not letting Disney ruin that for me. Thankfully that's an impossibility. But this show damn sure wasn't for me.😏

2026-09-06 12:00 Hi Nat. I think they should continue with another season for Obi Wan. He needs to build his home and work with Qui Gon. He’s alive while the resistance is born & he leaves Bale by saying if you need me, you know how to reach me. Leaving Reva alive also makes sense for a season 2. Her redemption isn’t over. I think she needs to sacrifice her self in some scenario where she’s protecting Obi Wan or Luke or someone important. I’m too tired to elaborate. It’s 3:30am here. Take care & Stay Golden ✌️

Just gonna add something to this that I found out yesterday, don’t think it could be classed as a spoiler but just in case. The phase 4 Daredevil REBORN show looks like it will have most of the original cast reprise their original roles including Fisk after the Hawkeye show.

Anomaly

Wow yeah, I hadn't put that together before. Really cool detail

Kev Martin

Andor seems clearly to be not just about Cassian. That looks like its just the vehicle to look at a huge part of the saga that hasn't been examined at all. The origins and formation of The Rebellion.

Anomaly

Bro really just wrote a whole ass novel in a patreon comments section

Happy Wednesday Nat. This is about the 6th attempt at getting this message published, so fingers crossed. We finally reached the end of the sandy road. You waited for 6 episodes, but you finally got your Liam Neeson moment. I'd give this show a B- It was enjoyable but not exceptional. There were certainly some great moments, especially the final duel with Vader, but the story wasn't that involving, and it felt padded out to fit the 6 episodes. The use of John Williams' themes at the end certainly added to those final scenes. I loved your line "Enjoy Alderaan while it lasts" and also Luke! Luke! Luke! - Where is he? "They clearly don't know" 😂 Thanks for another fun video Nat and May the Force Be with You. Yes you definitely have to use that line 😊💛

Brian Jones

@Anomaly - Nah. That was simply the short list.😏

Philip Davetas

Is the forming of the rebellion really that important when we know it happens? I think they spent at least the original trilogy giving you a pretty decent look inside. I mean, just following Han Solo on that Hoth sequence you get the sense that they're in dire need for just anyone. And Luke Skywalker just being allowed to be a pilot with no academy training and trusted with a valuable piece of dwindling equipment. I guess people just want to be beat over the head with it if people asked for it. But I don't recall anyone asking for it.

Ilsuk Yang

This show reminds me of a bad renovation job on a house. The foundations remain in the same poor condition as before. They just put a nice, shiny paint job on it and call it a day. It's like they wanted the payoff without putting in the work. That's how all the Star Wars Disney+ shows (except for The Mandalorian) and MCU Disney+ shows feel to me (I guess you could also group in the live-action Disney remakes, too). They all have good and bad in them, and they end up being average shows. I don't think they even need to add more episodes. Just cut out all the unnecessary stuff and have these short seasons be more focused. Anyways, just my opinion

Raztaban

I think the warnings are for Americans

Ortizmo

After the steaming pile that was Rise of Skywalker. I've personally found very little that was overly offensive with any of the D+ Star Wars shows. Each one is highly entertaining with maybe one or two weak links each. Whereas TRoS makes me wanna drink Drano. For me, the Kenobi/Vader rematch kicked not only ass, but new forms of ass that it itself invented just for the purpose of kicking it.

Anomaly

Agreed. I think that for some unknown reason, probably nostalgia, a lot of people have extremely heightened expectations for any Star Wars content, despite it having been campy and dumb from the very beginning with New Hope. I think the best we can hope for is a dumb, entertaining experience. TRoS and all of the sequel movies IMO sucked ass because they just didn't know what they wanted to do with them. There was no coherent storyline and it really felt like Disney thought that they could put 0% effort in because the brand would carry them to success no matter what. Obi Wan Kenobi series has a ton of problems, but that's exactly what I expect from a Disney, and Star Wars instalment. It's fine. It's just something you can watch and enjoy after having a few beers and taking a break from some emotionally heavy shite like Euphoria or Chernobyl. I think they did what they could within their constraints and it was mostly fine

jamie jones

Well yeah, and we all know why.

Frank Rosales

The Star Wars animated stuff is pretty much all that's left besides the new shows coming soon if you want to dive deeper. There's probably a condensed list of The Clone Wars and Rebels episodes that would make for an interesting reaction.

Bou Sculpts

I don't see it being the same case with Marvel shows on the MCU, but I might be biased. Mandalorian S1 and S2 were pretty great (not perfect, but enjoyable overall) since they didn't heavy rely on nostalgia, something this show relies heavily on. It was a new character, a fresh look, with a spaghetti western vibe. Marvel shows are mostly introduction for new characters with some additional exploration of others, and although they also have their flaws, they are pretty well received for the most part by the general public. These characters need further development in the future, just like others did. For example, the first Captain America movie got bashed to the ground by the critics and public, and look how much everyone loves Steve Rogers after the Infinity Saga.

jamie jones

You hate the show, we all get it. You made that clear on episode one reaction comment section. So why are you still in the comment section after 6 episodes? When nat reacts to something i dont like, i dont spam every single reaction video with negativity. Just watch the reactions you enjoy/ haven’t seen and let others do the same. If this watch along was the first time you’ve seen the show then your constant, obsessive commenting would be justified, but You’re clearly not watching these reactions as you’ve clearly already seen the show, so just fuck off and let the people who actually enjoy it do just that.

Brian Jones

@jamie jones - My sincerest apologies if pointing out the failings of this complete dumpster fire of a show have emotionally upset your applecart Jamie. As per the usual, there's absolutely no requirement for you to either read or engage with my comment.👋😏

Florian Hoyer

few things. the most importent stuff i feel this episode is the music, when vader decides to let it go its the first time this series his theme plays. and when obi leaves alderaan also the old theme plays cause hes back on track. luke NEVER saw a light saber before episode 4 so he didnt do it this episode, he run away first and was uncontious later. and luke DID know ben, so much that i think they must have met later again as he said in episode 4 "obi wan kenobi ? does she mean old ben kenobi?" so he remembers bens name and i doubt he would from a talk when he was 10 years old xD also the sentences "hey there" obi says to luke is the first sentences he speaks to luke in episode 4 so thats an easter egg xD

Florian Hoyer

i give the show as entire an 8/10. i was very entertained

Ilsuk Yang

Well, I said the same thing you said about The Mandalorian in my original comment. The first Captain America movie is not a show and doesn't suffer the same issues as the MCU Phase 4 shows (it's actually a good movie)

jamie jones

You’re the reason people complain about star wars fans being toxic.

Brian Jones

@jamie jones - Again, sorry you have such a hard time dealing with simple truths Jamie. BTW, I am a Star Wars fan. Just not a fan of this laughably bad show.😏👍

Shintaro

I loved that you enjoyed the soundtracks. The one who did the st here is the same one that did Loki. Natalie Holt. She's great! though her work on Obi-Wan wasn't as good as Loki due to her not having full freedom as to what she can make compared to Loki where Kevin Feige gave her full freedom plus continuous support.

Kev Martin

I hear Arcane is great, but haven't seen JJ for a long time so would enjoy rewatching. I'm also one of apparently very few people who isn't a big fan of cartoons when there's so much quality live action content to experience. That said, I'll gladly also check out Arcane when Nat does get to it, which I'm sure she will soon enough

Jackson

I’ve found that there are things done within animation that simply can’t be pulled off in live action, and vice versa. Arcane does a brilliant job of showcasing the beauty of artists bringing a story to life through their art.
