Happy Feature Friday Captain Nat. Ready to set sail 🤗 When this came out it was a real event, and was just one of those movies that made you feel so hyper after seeing it, and it sounds like you certainly felt the same. The cast. The visuals, the action, the music. It was all perfect. The one thing that I remember at the time after seeing it was proving to my 10 year old niece that Jack and Will could survive walking underwater with the upside-down boat on their heads. She didn't believe it was possible. I put some tissue paper in a cup and submerged it in the sink and she was amazed that it came out dry 😄 Thanks for a brilliant video today Nat. So great watching this movie again with you. It was so much fun. With your new camera and microphone, your Stay Golden light is the finishing touch. It's perfect. Thanks, as always, for all you amazing work this week. Have a great weekend Nattie G 💛

Daniel Molina

I just watched this trilogy again recently and legit forgot how entertaining it was. The “you need to get yourself a girl mate” line always kills me 😂

Danishprince

All aboard the ship! Excited to revisit this movie with you <3

Asmos

After a little adjusting, I actually liked the audio only coming through in only one ear. Made it a lot easier to hear both the episode and Nat. But it was a bit weird.

Randee Carreno

Happy Feature Friday, Natalie! 😊 This is one of my favorite "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day & weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Ben Wheeler

One of my top 5 character introductions

Joe Blankenship

This might be my last month as a nugget. Lately there's been nothing I've felt like rewatching.

john collins

honestly the straightened hair had me more surprised than the awesome new sign lol both look incredible though!

FateMalone

Wow the fact that I have for years been commenting for you to react to this movie since the early marvel days and it finally happening!! so excited

RationallySassy

Super fun reaction Nat! Some fun thoughts: - I thought your impression was actually really good! - The part where you first talk about the music really reminded me of the bad guys theme from The Road to El Dorado - The next 2 movies (the trilogy) are actually really good. I think you'd enjoy those two and then after the 4th and 5th, things definitely start falling apart. But the 3rd movie ties things together really well though. - The actor who plays Captain Barbosa is so good – I feel like he speaks like a pirate so naturally he could be one aha (all the acting is great in this though). - Orlando in this and LOTR was such a wonderful time, aha.

RationallySassy

Also yes! The set pieces, music, costumes, etc. are all amazing! Also I enjoy how in all 3 movies there are returning characters and plot points They're such good movies to keep you entertained throughout the whole thing and keep you guessing :)

Mr Booligan

Fun throwback. Crazy it's almost been 20 years since it came out

Bou Sculpts

I love the first three movies. First one is a favourite of course, 2nd is still good but the third... oh boy the third. Just thinking about the last third of the movie still gives me the chills. I don't get all the hate they get after the 1st one. The effects (still holding up pretty well after 20 years), the SOUNDTRACK (please what a great soundtrack) and of course, Jack Sparrow. What an iconic character. Love them. Not a fan of part 4 and 5 though, since they deviate a bit too much from the others.

Troy

1. Love the hair, the new sign, and the sound coming out both headphones. 2. I must confess I often skip the ones you've seen before, but it's been SO long since I saw Curse Of The Black Pearl, and I remember loving it, and being subsequently disappointed in the increasingly "meh" sequels, so I'm interested in seeing your reaction to it, even if there aren't many surprises for you. 3. How far away IS that back wall, anyway? You looked so TINY back there. My sense of perspective is totally skewed. Edit: 4. I humbly suggest that for the YouTube version when you turn the neon sign on, add this sound effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4eX9PiIVEA

Harrison

Oh my gosh your hair looks STUNNING. Love all your different looks and love this movie. Stay Golden <3

LightsCameraJake

Love Hanz Zimmer with the scores for these films. You should absolutely watch the rest of them xD I love them all. 2 and 3 being my favs

Fredrik Larsson

I think it's time for you to watch the three The Hobbit movies now. :)

RationallySassy

I feel like since you mentioned it, you should rewatch the 'The Legend of Zorro' movies now too haha

Nautilus1492

Hi Nat, and thank you very much for this new reaction which is a real gem! 😄 One of my favourite film from my childhood and in my favourite universe hahaha, such iconic characters played by so talented artists ^^ and of course the soundtrack is so magical 😄 Really hope you're planning to react at least to the 2nd and 3rd films, they are really great sequels and the main antagonist is a great villain, I often compared him to Darth Vader from a visual point of view (impressive, frightening disturbing) and the story (well worked) (there're no 4th and 5th films, it's an urban legend hahahaha) And your new lights behind are good! Nice job from Tyler ^^ I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

HeyItsSuper

OMG Please watch 2 and 3 (the trilogy) it's such a fun watch imo and I think you'd really enjoy them

ButtyOh

I have to point out that you were wrong about your Victorian fashion comment at the start. Queen Vic wouldnt be around for another 100 years or so This takes place in 1720, so King George the First has been King for about 6 years. And jack even meets Georgie in the 4th film So to summarise, the correct term is Georgian Fashion

FateMalone

I hope you atleast watch 2 and 3 you can skip 4 and 5

Dan Söderlund

I kept waiting for Nat to realize that the governor was in Game of Thrones, where he played the High SPARROW :)

Fostena

You missed the post-credit scene! :D

Fostena

2 and 3 have some incredible CGI and are very fun

Casen Jamvo

I only learned of it years after it came out lol

Fostena

It wasn't really common practice back then. X-Men did it (I don't know if they did it in the very first movie though)

NFXx

Y’know every now and then I would watch this film and I already know that there were a few Easter eggs to the Disney ride but just watching it now I realize there are a ton. I don’t know how after many years I’m just noticing them. Also I think you should give 2 and 3 a watch. They’re pretty good films. The 4th and 5th are alright, you can skip those. Also there is a post credit scene at the end.

PrayTellCaesar

This movie is an amazing oner. A perfect encapsulated ride. But I echo others in saying 2 and 3 are just as fun and a wonderful accompaniment to this film. Would love to see you watch those as well. Thanks Nat for a trip down memory lane!

Eryk Klukaczyński

In my country I've seen it on VHS because cinema was too far away from my village then, but still I have the same fillings as you Nat :) PS. Trilogy of PoC is ok but beyond these 3 movies, nothing special, unfortunately.

James Bartley

Yeah totally agree watch 2 and 3. Id say 4 and 5 we dont need to watch. Would definitely love to see Nat's reaction to 2 and 3 as they are great films

Jon Brown

Just started watching and so far my favorite quote is “I’m just insanely jealous. I mean…very happily tak……JAAAAAACK!!!!” 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Damn Tyler, better buy her another gift 😜

Ilsuk Yang

I'd prefer if they didn't remake this movie. The CGI holds up enough that a remake isn't necessary. Besides, story and character is more important than good CGI. I think 2 and 3 would be good for you to react to, Nat!

Squ33ky

This was one of Zoe Saldana's earlier roles

Julia

Awh I loved revisiting this with you! First, I always say 'Pirates of the Caribb-ean' but will sometimes say 'Caribbean' if just speaking about the place. Also, I never thought that Elizabeth was just acting drunk in that scene! I figured she woke up with disgust and regret and had an idea, but its really interesting your mind went there!

Erik Stevenson

Such a fun movie! Strongly recommend Master & Commander for another nautical adventure.

LightsCameraJake

I had no idea there was an end credits scene to this movie.

K.N.

If you haven't seen them yet, you should definitely watch Parts 2 and 3 as well. It's the same director/writers and the same cast, and all 3 films work great as a trilogy. You can skip 4 and 5 which were basically just cash grabs with different director/writers and only JD returning from the cast, but 2 & 3 are both solid and the effects work on Davy Jones is still jaw-dropping to this day.

Ren

lol, let's watch em all.

Greymond

Definitely the 2nd and 3rd. The 4th is decent, but the 5th is attrocious.

Michael G. Munz

SUCH a good movie (and another great soundtrack)!

Kirk Andrew Uhl II

The trilogy is a masterpiece. Throwing in my vote to watch 2 and 3 🙂

Casen Jamvo

2 is okay, 3 isn't great, they both get so gross for no reason and Jack goes from a force of nature who is sort of in control and very smart to Jar Jar Binks. I know a lot of people like them, I just don't really get it; the first is absolutely perfect, and they throw away the swashbuckling fun for gross out moments and a hurricane of CGI effects that date the movie pretty quick.

Paul Silva

I really hope you do pirates 2 and 3. I know a lot of people don’t like it but I really enjoy 2 and 3

Mr. Every

Well... I guess you have to watch the rest of the movies

Taff Lewis

Yes! Nat will love Miss Swan's and Norington's arcs in 2 & 3

Taff Lewis

Geoffrey Rush brings the weight to this movie, and yes you should run at the least 2 & 3. you will thank us.

Brian Jones

2 and 3 are worth a watch. They certainly have their flaws, but they aren't too bad. Would skip anything beyond that. Sadly, like many other franchises, Pirates slowly deteriorates with every sequel, and none of them remotely measure up to the original. The main problem being that the main character that carries the franchise, Jack Sparrow, slowly becomes a parody of himself over the course of the films. More and more cartoonish as time goes on.

JayyDTR

With your closing thoughts being "I love it for what it is", I think it's worth finishing the trilogy because you'll most likely enjoy it. We don't talk about the 4th and 5th.

Clay Paton

Also loved Geoffrey Rush's performance in The King's Speech

Heliastein

We should do 1-2-3. It's a fully completed trilogy. No need to watch 4-5 they're on their own and not worth it. But hopefully you get to 2 and 3 at some point that would be cool :)

YannickWega

I would like you to watch the whole trilogy ^^ and you missed the end credit scene.

Bou Sculpts

The triple cross that Jack does in the 2 and 3 is nowhere near close to Jar Jar Binks. His twists and turns are still great.

Brian Jones

Now THAT is a phenomenal movie.👍

George Baxter

I dont have any problem with Jack, at least in 2 and 3... 4 and 5 are where Depp forgets how to play the character. He's not really about getting drunk or lucky, he's about cunning and opportunism. The problem with 2 and 3 is more mythology. in 1 the mythology is relatively simple and neat. But Pirate Lords?? Pirate Kings?? Calypso!?! That stuff is not good. I think the redeeming thing in 2&3 is the villain. Bill Nighy and that CGI are magnificent. Really Jack is nothing without a good villain.

Rosanne Stewart

Personally, I think this trilogy had only one brilliant movie and you watched it. The rest are missable.

Alan Kobb

Back during the Spanish conquest of the islands there was a tribe called the Caribs, so you can pay them more respect by calling it "Carib-be-an", but many, including most in Jamaca call it "Car-RIB-bean". In other words, there really is no wrong or right, just pointless arguments. Most of them don't care as long as you vacation there from time to time.

NobleSon32

You said let me know what you think so here it is...be prepared...full honest opinion, no sugar coating... You are amazing! I love your reactions Nat! You are kind, funny, gorgeous, and all around a phenomenal human being!. Stay Golden!!

JohnD

This is late and I don't usually comment, but it would be AMAZING if you watched the trilogy. With everything you liked about the first one, you would love the third. It's a masterpiece.

Logan Kerlee

Watching this with yo was so darn fun! I've always loved this one. I first saw this in theaters along with each of the others. This one's my favorite - always. :) Always looking forward to whatever's next! Have a good one Nat! :)

Logan Kerlee

Agreed. The others may be fun but they're missable for sure.

Keith Jacobsen

Really fun reaction Nat. Honestly, I wouldn't really bother with the sequels, they fall off in quality pretty quickly imho. PS Fun Fact: Keira Knightley was only 18 when this film came out!

Logan Kerlee

lmao, I'm over here wanting her to do a reaction for Scarface! I fucking love that movie. It's good stuff. :)

Cripkie

i cant tell if its a brilliant film or just propped up with brilliant acting. semantics probably.Altho johnny playing a narcissistic alcoholic with a desire for infamy isnt really a stretch for him. Geoffrey rush was brilliant tho, as always.

Gryff

Craig spits facts.

Logan Nash

The 2nd and 3rd are definitely as fun as the 1st! Definitely think you should watch those two!

Mastervodo

Hello Nat! Yes you! Hello you! Add me to the 2 and 3 and skip the 4 and 5 in the series. You'll like how the 3 main characters end up. Also - we need an intro for Dave. And finally - Jessica Jones and then maybe Arcane by the end of the year? Pweeze?

John

The trilogy is still so good. I dont rewatch 4 and 5 often, but the first 3 I rewatch alot.

SilverWolf

Hey Nat! I agree and vote for 2 and 3, but no need for 4 and 5 :) Really loved getting to watch Curse of the Black Pearl with you! Such a classic :D

SilverWolf

Oh! I always thought she was faking cause she seems to intentionally drinking less than Jack XD

TreehouseOfJorge

Interesting. I always interpreted it as 'Elizabeth's plan is to get Jack drunk so he'll fall asleep while she creates the smoke signal to be rescued.'

2026-09-06 12:00 The Trilogy are really fun as a package, although 2 & 3 suffer as individual films because of balancing issues. That said, there are things I absolutely LOVE in 2 and 3, and your reactions Nat make me think you should watch them until the end (of part 3)!

Thomas Richter

How come Elizabeth didn't got cursed since she basically stole the medalion twice?

Danishprince

I assume because she didn't remove it from the chest

Emanuel Sahlström

Amazing reaction! I think it's worth checking out 2 and 3 not so much 4 and 5 but if you feel so inclined I wouldnt mind revisiting them.

Opti_Frog

Curse of the Black Pearl is a great movie and i like it. I don't love it though. Like Nat said, it nails so much of what it's trying to do. Fantastic characters, great acting (Geoffrey Rush ❤) and pitch perfect tone. I think the reason i don't love it is because the story is a bit on the weak side. It's fun and snarky and cool, but it never gets exciting because there's never really a sense of danger. I do think Nat should watch the second one, at least. A certain vfx in that one is a damn leap for mankind. 🐙

Kathy Ice

One of the really fun things about this movie when it came out was how well it incorporated elements of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. A lot of the vignettes in Tortuga, including the guy sleeping with pigs, were from the ride. So were the outfits worn by Scarlett and Giselle, as well as some of the dialog ("Strike yer colors, ye bloomin' cockroaches!"). Disney has since updated the ride to more closely match the movies, and while I understand why they did that, it's kind of a shame that the cleverness of the original film will be lost to newer audiences.

Adam Doyle

Please do the rest of the series eventually!

Philip Davetas

I love the whole franchise in general. I think the Gore Verbinski era of PIRATES gets a little weighted down with politics, but I still love them. I think the standalones with ON STRANGER TIDES and DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES are really great too. I hear Margot Robbie might be taking a plunge into the franchise, but I think because of THE SUICIDE SQUAD and BIRDS OF PREY not doing all that great brings into question if she could bring in an audience coupled with the Depp vs. Heard stuff everything is up in the air. Oh, dude! Nat, have you done THE SUICIDE SQUAD? * By the way. Dig the new resolution and that neon "Stay Golden."

matthew

Any chance we could see the trilogy???
