Yeah, they're two different characters Nat, they're just both blonde. I'm glad you're starting Jessica Jones season 1 (even though I voted for Arcane, this is a worthy substitute)! This is my favorite season of the Defenders/Netflix Marvel shows (although, Daredevil is my favorite show in this group). Jessica is a very interesting character with a lot of baggage. She's my favorite main character from the Marvel Netflix shows. Anyways, I see you're taking some time off in September. I hope you feel refreshed when you come back!

Totally started the Netflix marvel shows with this one (yes because of David Tennant's role) I personally enjoyed this one more than Daredevil but i only have seen the 1st season of each show.

Of all the Marvel villains, Kilgrave (aka The Purple Man) is IMO by far the scariest, as he can control anyone and make you do anything. Some of the things he does in this show are just insane and he's just a sociopath. I loved it!

This season is great. Just don't do Iron Fist or the other lesser Netflix ones. Daredevil & Jessica Jones are the only ones you really need to watch, in my opinion.

I am on board with the idea that watching all of the Netflix-era Marvel shows might be a bit much, but season one of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage were all good. (I personally wouldn't bother with The Punisher, and just avoid Iron Fist entirely [though I did sometimes enjoy the antagonist of that show, IIRC, but that doesn't make up for an idiotic protagonist.]) I barely remember The Defenders, though I know I watched it.

Jessica Jones and Daredevil are still my favorite MCU TV series. Netflix nailed them 100%. But please Nat, do these shows only if you feel like watching them. Do not force yourself to watch tens of hours of content you don't really care about. Otherwise you will burn out and it will be terrible for you and for us, your audience.

Jessica Jones was my favorite among the Netflix shows. It's so good I picked up the Bluray. The Netflix shows are miles better than anything Disney has put out. I think the Disney shows need a harder edge and they really need to be longer than the 30min sitcoms they shill. Even when the Netflix shows are bad they outshine Disney. This Story was also done in WONDER WOMAN #219 where a person with mind control powers takes control of Superman. For me, the Kilgrave story hits harder. Even if it is about Super Heroes and Villains. It's a story anyone can understand. It brings the fear of losing control of your mind and pours gasoline on it. Jessica

It really sucks, but I don't think we'll ever see Disney do anything on the same level as the Netflix shows again. I think they were kind of able to sneak the Netflix shows out in a way, at a time right before the MCU hit its peak in popularity worldwide and put it on Netflix which I imagine made it easier to market to an older audience without worrying too much about it. With Disney+ being an all around streaming platform for whatever they produce, I think it would be a lot harder for them to justify and execute making something like the Netflix shows without catching a ton of heat from religious parents & content-strict foreign countries who would ban the content. Falcon and the Winter Soldier had huge potential to be very entertaining in a Netflix-Marvel-esque way, but they disappointingly turned it into another generic, watered down Captain America movie in the form of a TV show. IDK though, with the news that their new Daredevil show will allegedly be 18 episodes long, they could surprise us......maybe??

I remember first watching this when I was younger and sided more with Trish wanting to do hero work. But now I'm older, I understand Jessica more. Kilgrave put her through so much it's understandable why she wanted to run.

How did you not recognize Carrie-Anne Moss aka Trinity from the Matrix? If you want to make it easier on yourself, Disney/Marvel has branded these shows as the "Defenders Saga". They are more geared to street level crime whereas MCU is more space/supernatural/cosmic type stuff.

Dont know why you have to put down Disney Plus shows to raise up the Netflix shows. Literally the worst way to praise a piece of art or media. Also she may have no killed anyone, but Wanda, our HERO, literally mind controlled an entire town to live in the fantasy to deal with her trauma. But yeah, I guess they still need a harder edge >_<

Strong disagree. Not knocking the show as I'm a fan of this first season, as well as a huge fan of David Tenent, but they nerfed him too much. Now, had they actually gone with the full blown comic iteration of him from Alias, then yeah, you would have had something amazing and way darker and more sinister, but in this instance I'd agree with Bou that Kingpin was better written and developed.

The first season is pretty strong. It falls off sharply in the second and third, but I'd definitely recommend watching the first one. My only complaint is that they didn't give us the full on treatment of the villain, but it's still a pretty good interpretation of him.

@John - There's doing it in a safe and kid friendly way, and then there's the hard R way of doing it. Disney+ is highly unlikely to do the hard R thing, and all signs are pointing to them watering down the Daredevil character along with any other Netflix Marvel heroes they decide to resurrect. And no, WandaVision and it's content wasn't even remotely on par with the subject matter dealt with in these shows.

Different production team and totally different network that wasn't beholden to the moral image the mouse has to keep. It's unlikely we will ever get anything this gritty from Disney, and I agree, it's a shame. Also why I'm afraid we will never get a truly good representation of Dr. Strange, Blade, or Punisher going forward.

This argument of what to watch seems to be coming up again. The only thing I'll add is Nat has limited amount of time and she can't watch everything. I see Luke Cage and Iron Fist as trying to get her to watch Book of Boba Fett. She doesn't need to watch everything. Her fiancé or a friend could just explain what happened in those shows.

Definitely check with someone with a more encyclopedic knowledge than I about which ones to watch and skip... I didn't have the hate for Iron Fist that a LOT of people had... it wasn't great... but I still had fun... but the other shows are leagues beyond it for sure. :)

Hey, that was fun! New member here, first time getting to watch a full length reaction to an excellent show. The Netflix shows are so dark and gritty, I love them, but I haven't watched them all. I only saw DD1, JJ1 and DD2, so you will be caught up to me soon and I will get to see them fresh with you!

No one ever seems to agree with my take on Irost Fist, but I'll give it anyway. That is; the biggest problem with Iron Fist is the actor who plays Iron Fist, he was just wrong for the role, Not a bad actor, just wrong for that role.

I think Daredevil, Jessica Jones and The Punisher are a must watch. I think Luke Cage is very good and you should definitely watch it as well. As for Iron Fist.... no one will lose sleep if you skip that lmao.
