Yay happy Marvel.. Friday? Feels wrong but I'll take it cause this show is amazing! <3

Jenny Chalek

I can't even explain how happy I am that you're reacting to this.

Randee Carreno

Happy Friday, Natalie! 😊 I really enjoyed the reaction to the first episode yesterday. And I'm looking forward to watching the next episode reaction this evening. Have a great day & weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Ian

Happy Friday nat looking forward to this very much I have snack of a chip butty and can of diet coke . It's Friday so I'm not in to join your stream later but hope it goes well and everyone has a good time 👍 have a wonderful weekend nat and until next week stay golden 💛

Boomcity

It had just occurred to me after all these years that the intro song sounds like an edgy take on Sex and the City theme with the piano (xylophone?). Also, the episode titles are AKA (also known as) or Alias (Alias Investigation). Another fun fact the sister neighbor upstairs is played by Colby Minifie, also in The Boys. :)

Mannygogou

wohoo! I recently joined 😊

Brian Jones

Awesome... Another episode of when Marvel actually knew how to write a compelling and interesting female character. If only the idiots behind She-Hulk took the time to go back and watch a few episodes of this. Man, and I thought Obi-Wan was bad. Disney is on a whole new streak of hot garbage these days.

Erik Stevenson

Brian just checking but you do know that nobody is forcing you to watch content you don't like, right?

Bou Sculpts

She-Hulk's mood is much more lighthearted than Jessica Jones in the comics by a huge stretch, the show is actually pretty accurate in that regard, wether you like it or not. Why would they straight up copy that? See Thor's case. They straight up copied Star-Lord's personality for Thor since Ragnarok, after the success of GoTG, making him much more childish and "funny". And that's why Thor is garbage now. Because that's not him. Same case with She-Hulk if they went for a tone like the one in Jessica Jones.

Eduardo

lil bro copied his entire personality from ragebait youtube videos

Jenny Chalek

Luke is Luke Cage, by the way.

Bou Sculpts

I mean, I agree that Obi Wan was an overall poor series. Dumb plot, poorly directed and edited, lackluster characters... but hating on She-Hulk since day 1 for being comic accurate is pretty lame, ngl.

HeyItsSuper

I'm not sure if Natalie has picked up on this yet, but the woman playing the lawyer is Carrie-Anne Moss who also played Trinity in the Matrix trilogy

Darryl Low

Nattie G, you ARE the best in the game 😄 I loved you second guessing the "low blow" line, but I second guessed you at the end with "well, damn" 😂 ha ha This show is definitely intriguing. Such a powerful and terrifying villain. His presence is felt throughout these first 2 shows and he's never actually been on screen until right at the end there. Looking forward to seeing to the next one. Thanks for a really great reaction today, and as always, thanks for all your awesome work this week. Look forward to the kitty livestream this evening. Have a brilliant weekend Nat 💛

Boomcity

Who hurt you?

Kathy Ice

When this series was first announced, its title was going to be "AKA Jessica Jones." They decided to change it, but the episode titles all retained their "AKA."

ButtyOh

Kilgrave (fighting the urge to call him Thaddeus because of the DC character) is played here by David Tenant. An amazing Scottish actor (probably best known for Playing The Doctor in Doctor Who and Crowley in Good Omens) He does a great job of hiding his Scottish accent though

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

Her business is "Alias Investigations" and an alias is often listed as "a.k.a. ..."

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

Speaking of The Boys, Colby Minifie, the actor who plays the twin sister that lives above Jessica Jones also plays a character in that show.

Lee Gannon

Not a spoiler for the series. Luke and Jessica are married in the comics and have a daughter called Danielle named after Daniel Rand / Iron Fist.

Kevin Mowery

I think the scene changes that are bothering you is that we're seeing the establishing shots as though they were through a camera like Jessica uses. So the focus is off, there's blur, the framing is off sometimes. The A/K/A is a relic of the show's development. It was originally going to be called A/K/A Jessica Jones. The first part was dropped from the title to better fit the other shows, but it stayed in all the episode names. (The development of the show is interesting. It started development years before the other Netflix shows, and was supposed to air on ABC, but ABC passed on it when the showrunner refused to make Jessica a side character and instead focus on her best friend Carol Danvers, a/k/a Captain Marvel. The showrunner removed Danvers from the show and replaced her with Trish, who is a different character from the comics.)

Brian Jones

WARNING - SHE-HULK SPOILERS @Bou - Well, since you're the only one that actually made a substantive comment, I'd say thanks for that, but I strongly disagree. Even the change in the origin story (quite different than the comic) was rushed and horribly ham-fisted. At least in the comic there was actually something to it. A full on blood transfusion to save her life, not some ridiculously rushed drop of blood nonsense. You know, something that actually developed the character and story in a dramatic and meaningful way. But come on man, the bathroom scene was laugh out loud pathetic. And that's one the creators of the show were laughably saying they were actually proud of. Because apparently we doctor wounds (of what they immediately perceived was a domestic violence victim🤪) with makeup now. Those points are not "comic accuracy", they're examples of really shit writing.😂🤦 Never mind that the character had ZERO struggle whatsoever in regards to her abilities and is apparently perfect at literally everything. Not to mention that if you reversed the sexes in this show the vast majority of the people crying about my comment would be screaming "SEXISM!!!!" at the top of their lungs. And they would be right.😂 But hey, it is what it is. And from what I hear, it gets worse with every following episode. At least for the first 4 that critics saw. I could rip this first episode to pieces in detail, but I'll save that for when the Marvel fanatics insist that Nat watches it. It will likely be right after Iron Fist wins a poll and we have to suffer through that hot mess.😂

Jomero

"Is this Luke Cage?" Well, all I'll say is that in all the movies and shows you've seen, how many people have ever shared a first name with another character? :)

Bou Sculpts

Man I wish I had so much free time as you do. First to watch hours and hours of content I clearly don't enjoy, and two, to rip entire shows frame by frame. Yes, the origin is slightly different than in the comics, but is equally valid. And yes, there's a not quite subtle agenda underlying. And I think that's your main gripe here. All of the negative reviews I've seen focus on the feminist "oh my gawd, whamen" side of it. Well get over it. It's advertised as what is is. If you don't like ribs, don't go to a BBQ my dude. Times are changing and you decided to not change with them. It's a perfectly valid choice to keep rewatching what you enjoy.

Degenerick

Im glad you like luke, hopefully you watch his show after daredevil s2 lol

Brian Jones

@Bou - No Bou, the "whamen" angle is not my "main gripe", it's just one that's glaringly obvious. Be honest, if this show treated women the way it treats men people would be absolutely losing their shit right now. But nah fam, it's all good because they advertised it that way?? Talk about some bullshit. I'd love to see the internet shit-storm that would happen if the roles were truly reversed, but Marvel would never dare attempt it.😂 But in all seriousness, my main gripe would be that Disney, recently more often than not, can't get it's shit together in the writing or even the basic quality control department (I mean, holy bad CGI Batman), and are producing one subpar product after another. And it shows in every department across the board with a production as shit as this. And of course no one is forcing me to watch it, but I'm going to give it a fair shot just like I would anything else, and (if it does suck) know what I'm talking about when I criticize it. If I didn't then the complaint would be "well you didn't even watch it!!", "you didn't give it a chance!!", "you're just hating for the sake of hating!!". And you know damn well that would be the case Bou. You've seen it and even criticized that shit yourself. And yeah, I can afford to spare a whopping 30 minutes a week to give a show that shot, especially when I'm paying for Disney+ anyway. And man oh man is this one off to a shit-show of a start. Andor better really be something special.🙄

Brian Jones

Oh come now Butters, how dare you not mention the remake of Fright Night. He was damn good in that.😏

Fostena

HOW DARE YOU start the episode straight away? I wasn't ready! (I am kidding of course)

Wex

Infinity War and Endgame: Captain America and Doctor Strange :)

Fostena

I don't believe that she kept her mouth shut with the police because she thought they wouldn't believe her. She didn't tell the police about Kilgrave because: 1) she may be a bit secretive about her own powers with the authority (is not a top secret, but she also doesn't want everyone to know) 2) she thinks that the police would be ineffective against Kilgrave 3) even if the police ends up catching him somehow, it would be after a f***ing bloodbath 4) she is clearly an antisocial, she asks for help only when it's too late and she doesn't have a choice So she tries to handle the problem on her own, even if it may not be a smart choice

Logan Kerlee

Glad that you're really enjoying this! Jessica Jones may not be my favorite Marvel series but it ranks high. But yeah, the chemistry between Jones and Cage is next level. I'm looking forward to more episodes, next week! :)

Bou Sculpts

Well then I guess all the positive reviews from the public for all the Marvel Disney shows are just Disney buying reviews then. Every show well above an 80% rate it must be that. Just subpar products, right? You're clearly not in the same page as most of the people right now, and that's ok, you don't need to like it. But don't try to make everyone see what you see, because it's not gonna work with such an unanimous and positive reception for those shows. And I'm sorry, but if you say She-Hulk's CGI looks bad in this first episode, I think you need to get checked. It was perfect. Far better than any other series so far. Being able to focus the entire episode in 2 CGI characters while keeping their performance so palpable is really remarkable. But from what you say I think you're more fond of practical effects and prefer the Lou Ferrigno take, painted green with a wig as a Hulk, rather than the CGI one. To each their own. PS: How many times have you been sexually harrased as a man that you need so badly a show talking about it, my dude? Damn you must be good looking. Of course Marvel is not going to talk about non existing problems. But i'm sure you bought the story in which Peter Parker, the nerdy, scientist, socially awkward guy ends up being succesful after being bullied. But if that was a girl... nah my dude. Get that feminist crap out of my comic book show, right? All of my female friends said that scene in the bar is extremely relatable for most, if not all, woman at some point or another. Smells fishy PS2: Jen's abilities are different from Bruce, since Bruce has a D.I.D. from being abused as a child by his father. That's why when he turns, the "other guy" takes control. Never really explained in the MCU, but it's canon on the comics, and kinda canon on the MCU since they never really explained Hulk's origin in a movie, but Norton's version is kind of a sequel to Ang Lee's Hulk with Eric Bana.

Ed Green

They're generally known as Steve and Stephen though

Steve J

obviously Anthony Stark and Anthony Mackie ;) or Peter Parker/Quill

djKENTO

Last episode you were like “I’m going to leave Punisher and Luke Cage up to a poll” and I sat there thinking “After this series and the next season of Punsiher… I have a feeling you’ll want to just continue on your own” The only series that’s a real “meh-fest” is Iron Fist. The rest are sooo solid.

Robert Miller

Ya, I commented on Ep1 on how I as surprised Natalie didn't recognize her.

Keith Jacobsen

Ding! Ding! Ding! Yep, Luke Cage. I'm guessing the A.k.a. for each episode is because Jessica's company is called Alias Investigations.

Jordan Love

Don't be fooled, Iron Fist gets a lot of hate on these boards, but it has lots of fans too, we just aren't as noisy. I think it's got some of the best supporting actors of any of the shows. It's the only Defenders show that only got better as it went and it's the only show that really explored the *spoiler* in an interesting way whereas Defenders completely failed to do so. Best of the series? No. Worst show of all time? Far from it.

ConsciousChronicle143

Yup. I loved Iron Fist, and has some of the best supporting cast in the entire mcu. Finn Jones' Danny grew as a character too (which was always the intent). Was sad to see it end when it did. It was getting really damn good.

Brian Jones

@Bou - Well it's early yet regarding ratings, but we could start with the hilariously suspicious numbers over at IMDB, where there are almost as many one star ratings as there are ten star ratings with almost nothing in between. Or the vanishing numbers that were happening on the Rotten Tomatoes site. Or the social stigma we all know any critic would face if they gave this POS the truly scathing review it deserves (or hell, just look how Obi-Wan turned out over there, or anywhere else, if you want to talk validity or realism in reviews😂). Or we could just wait and see where those totals are once the show finishes it's run. At the end of the day no number on any of those sites changes the clear flaws I've already pointed out with this first episode alone, just like Obi-Wan.🤷 In fact, the only big difference I'm seeing here between Obi-Wan and She-Hulk on your end, is that this just happens to be a show you like that I'm criticizing. Which is fine, but it's still easily as ridiculous and flawed a production as Obi-Wan was (judging by the first episode of course. Hey, it might improve. Not very likely, but it might🤷). "But don't try to make everyone see what you see" Bou, I don't even have to "try". You've already admitted you see it as well. All I have to do is point at the obvious.🤷 Are you actually trying to argue that the CGI and production design isn't compete shit (Marvel has been publicly trying to excuse and apologize for the horrible look since the trailer dropped, and that CGI hug was laugh out loud hilarious. The bodies weren't even connecting in the shot.😂🤣😂🤣)? You've already conceded the obvious and heavy handed "message", which we both know immediately compromises the quality of the writing. You've already conceded the errors in said writing and are trying to defend the horrible light switch of an origin change and what is presented as a flawless and perfect character who's already the master of her own universe with no room for growth (unless they step backward in future episodes). At this point, you're doing my job for me Bou. All I'm doing is pointing it out.🤷 "How many times have you been sexually harrased as a man that you need so badly a show talking about it, my dude? Damn you must be good looking." You're kidding with this defense, right? I thought you much more level headed Bou. They literally turned domestic violence into a joke in that bathroom scene. They patched her up with make-up and jokes Bou. Fucking, make-up and jokes🤦. No calling the authorities, no treating or dressing the wounds, no reasonable or commonsense reaction to that type of situation. They literally took a woman who they thought was physically assaulted, threw make-up on her, and sent her back out into the bar, and then alone outside. And you're questioning my views on the ridiculousness of that shit? GTFO.😂🤣😂🤣 Or that hilariously cringe line about "anger and fear" being the "baseline" for any woman's existence?? Certainly not any woman I've ever met. The show sounds like it was written by 22 year old liberal arts majors who could never get a date in college and are projecting their fever dreams. Hell, there wasn't a single redeemable male character in the entire episode. They literally made a comedy routine of belittling and shaming Hulk. Which to be fair, is already a pathetic shell of a character due to previous bad writing.🙄🤦 Think about the message that nonsense sends. Think about what would happen if you simply reversed the roles with these extremes. Heads would quite literally explode.😂 Or worse yet we could address the clear difference in objectivity imposed on men in the Marvel universe by comparison. Tell me Bou, didn't you find it totally empowering when an effeminate Zeus ripped off Thor's clothes with a flick of a finger so women in the audience could get there healthy dose of Hemsworth beefcake value out of the latest Thor film? Funny how they didn't include Jane Foster or Valkyrie in that naked display, wasn't it? But I digress. "Inclusion" is a one way street these days.🙄 "All of my female friends said that scene in the bar is extremely relatable for most, if not all, woman at some point or another." Bou, I spent 20 years of my life working in bars all over the country. You don't treat a woman with physical injuries like that with fucking make-up and 5 minutes of dress-up, and then send her out of the bar alone to make a phone call. You call the authorities FFS.🤦 "i'm sure you bought the story in which Peter Parker, the nerdy, scientist, socially awkward guy ends up being succesful after being bullied." You mean a character that actually had growth? That actually had to struggle and went through changes rather than being instantly perfect? That made countless mistakes on his journey, was humbled and humiliated along the way, and had mentors he respected rather than completely blew off as insignificant? Stories that didn't intentionally make Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy (or anyone of the opposite sex) look like complete shit along the way? You know, like, truly GOOD storytelling??😂🤦 "and kinda canon on the MCU since they never really explained Hulk's origin in a movie" Don't even get me started on just how poorly The Hulk has been handled in the Disney MCU films. That's a whole different conversation. The only movie that even came close to getting it right was the Norton film (the 2003 Lee film get's point's for trying, but holy shit was that movie flawed), but that's an entirely different discussion. Ever since Ruffalo has been playing the role, it's become nothing but a joke. They know this, and it's why they haven't done a solo film since. They've basically written themselves into a corner with the character. But let's stick with She-Hulk for the time being, as that's the topic of conversation and current complete abomination of a show.

jamie jones

If iron fist wins a poll, I can’t wait for said polls comment section.

Brian Jones

That, and it's a nod to the comic that the first season of this show is loosely based on. Great comic BTW.

Jordan Love

Also, the original show title was A.K.A. Jessica Jones, but they decided last minute to loose the first bit.

Nick James

absolutely insane that The Boys hasn't been requested on this channel! Marvel has taken over the content here

TwistedMagoo

Punisher > Daredevil >Jessica Jones > Luke Cage > Iron Fist > The Defenders

Jordan Love

@Brian What wounds? She would have completely healed by then, she was just dirty.

Jordan Love

Not a spoiler yet... we don't know what Disney might do.

Myles Away

You're a fan of The Boys?! Please watch the next two seasons

Adam Baker

The Boys and Umbrella Academy are the only superhero esc shows that I have ever actually enjoyed

John

Ashley and Starlight from the Boys are in this lol I didnt even realize that when I started the Boys

Brian Jones

@Jordan Love - Visible physical wounds or no, all the girls in that room treat it like a result of a domestic violence case, so the point still stands. Why on earth would you just tidy her up with clothes and make-up and send her out alone into the night to make a phone call? It quite literally makes no logical sense.😂🤦

Lifehouse

Yeah so the other 2 shows, Luke Cage and Iron Fist arent as good as jessica jones / daredevil. They are entertaining though, just in a lower tier. If you dont watch them, make sure to watch something that recaps those shows/seasons before you enbark onto The Defenders, because those 2 shows do hav KEY information.

Lifehouse

Oh side note: Don't skip on The Punisher, that show is tooooooo good to miss out on.

Mastervodo

As long as Arcane is before those 2.

Mastervodo

Gory. Nat no likey the gory. She will get enough of Punisher in S2 of Daredevil.

DanFDTR

She watched Game of Thrones. She'll be fine.

RebRox65

Totally agree, The Punisher is my personal favourite of all these shows Recommend you don’t skip this show

Rime Pendragon

Defenders also was not very good though.. just skip it and go directly to the Punisher.

Ashcroft Production-House

I am so excited for her to do Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Defenders. I really loved those shows. Especially for what they all did in progressing Clair's storyline.

Matthew Periolat

Yep, safe to say Nat is on at least for Luke Cage too now. No objections here. I know it’s popular to hate on at least Iron Fist, but I think it’s pretty good myself. I would encourage doing all the Netflix Marvel series, but also mixing in other movies and TV shows so things stay diverse both for yourself and the channel.

Logan Kerlee

Big yup! The Punisher may be uber violent but it's also mega entertaining. It's so damn cool to watch.

Logan Kerlee

As long as we get to watch The Punisher, I'll be happy.

Richard Maurer

It will be.........if it can ever win a poll.

Richard Maurer

Nat - the answer to your problem with the end of the JJ theme - Air Guitar!

Danishprince

The Boys have mentioned multiple times and has been featured in polls just not won. She has talked about wanting to react to it at some point but as she has already seen season 1 it isn't currently a priority :)

Richard Maurer

@Brian - It's almost like you're looking for reasons to hate these shows. Confirmation bias?

Jenny Chalek

I think the intense drumming is the best part of the end of the JJ theme. But then I am a drummer, so I guess I would.

Brian Jones

@Richard Maurer - Hey, whatever you have to tell yourself to excuse the complete dumpster fire that is She-Hulk, you feel free.🤷😂 If it makes you feel any better, House of the Dragon is off to a pretty strong start. Amazing the difference when you have an actually intelligent and cohesive storyteller at the helm, right? Think about that, in a single episode HotD did more storytelling and included more character development than anything Disney Star Wars or Marvel has done in ages. I have no problem at all pointing out excellence when it's actually deserved. But sorry gang, She-Hulk is a disaster.🤷

Richard Maurer

@ Brian -I'm enjoying House of the Dragon so far. Enjoying She-Hulk too for different reasons. But I guess I'm just telling myself I enjoy it, that Marvel is somehow making me think I enjoy it when I really don't. Maybe Marvel is shooting Hypno-rays out of the TV..........no, wait, I checked, I just really do enjoy it.

Richard Maurer

Shhhhhh! I just want to see Nat doing air guitar, that would be hilarious.

Brian Jones

@Richard Maurer - No one said you couldn't enjoy it Richard. Simply that it's a dumpster fire of a production. Feel free to enjoy it as much as you like.🤷😂

Richard Maurer

@ Brian - you literally said "whatever you have to tell yourself to excuse the complete dumpster fire that is She-Hulk", and I responded to that comment. Don't try to make it like I said something I didn't. But hey, thanks for your permission to enjoy She-Hulk, I really needed that. /s

Brian Jones

"you literally said "whatever you have to tell yourself to excuse the complete dumpster fire that is She-Hulk"" In direct response to your wild assumption of...😂 "It's almost like you're looking for reasons to hate these shows. Confirmation bias?" You made the blind assumption first.🤷 "Don't try to make it like I said something I didn't." I haven't, and I didn't.😂 "thanks for your permission to enjoy She-Hulk, I really needed that." I never said you needed it, but I'm glad it made you feel better all the same.😂👍 P.S. - It's "/s" by the way.😏👍

Richard Maurer

All that writing and not one real point. And for the record I know it's "/s", I made a mistake - you know, like everything you write in the comments - a silly mistake.

Brian Jones

Most of that was copy/paste Richard, barely an inconvenience, but I find it very unsurprising that you missed the point.😂

Eric Wallace

No intro or anything, just jumped in

Mannygogou

How does Jessica run up and down those in the class, are they stairs? At the end she jumped off the last 3 or 4 steps in her boots! First that can be a pretty hard shock... also I've busted my foot miss stepping the last step before 😅

Mannygogou

Hogarth's face when she catches Hope saying... "There are other [victims]? Other than Jessica?" Then she plays it like she knew all along.

SilverWolf

We can always hope! :P
