zplane - PEEL STEMS (Patreon)
Content
zplane released a new plugin called Peel Stems, an update to their old spectral filtering plugin, Peel. Peel Stems features four new knobs for drums, bass, vocals, and other, enabling real-time stem separation and volume adjustment. I tested it in Bitwig, and while it introduces some latency and spectral artifacts, it's impressive for real-time processing within a DAW.
Key Points:
Plugin Features: Four knobs for real-time stem separation and volume control.
Latency: Approximately 400 milliseconds, resulting in 600 milliseconds with other plugins.
Performance: Some spectral artifacts like pre-ringing and smearing, common in stem separation plugins.
Use Case: Best for less compressed tracks like older pop or classic songs.
Real-Time Adjustment: Allows in-DAW manipulation without needing external software.
Cost: Crossgrade is $20, new customers pay around $40.
Limitations: Not suitable for live performance due to latency.
Overall, Peel Stems is a versatile tool for music producers needing real-time stem separation directly in their DAW.
