I’m booked!!!! So excited 😆

SW

I'm booked too! Eeeee!! We were in Scotland just this past September for our 25th Anniversary and I just loved it. So so SO excited to be going back much earlier than I anticipated! Thanks to my indulgent husband too! :D

Carol Ganzon

Mother daughter and granddaughter booked. Uhoh. What an event. lol.

Ellen, I just booked the last spot! I'm scared, excited, I have never travelled out of the US by myself before. Guess I need to break out the big girl pants! Yay!

Ellen Crimi-Trent

Omg ! Yay! Once you do that band-Aid off it’s going to be great! Super Easy esp with phones today!

Barbara Rosi

I’m in the same boat. Though now I’m thinking I’ll go a couple of days earlier and do a little touring on my own before the retreat. Might as well just jump off the cliff.

julie masimore

So wish I was free to join. I know you all will have a fantastic time!

I need a little guidance from the experienced travelers. My payment for Scotland is being processed. When does everyone buy their airline tickets? Is anyone going early and staying later? I feel like it takes a bit to 'get across the pond' and I feel like I should expolre a bit while I am there. I appreciate any tips.

SW

Hi! I’m only “experienced” because we spent 17 days in Scotland this past September for our 25th Anniversary. If I had not done this I would be more of an anxious traveller than I already am! I am waiting until about March or April to book my flights. I intent on flying in the Thursday before the retreat so I’m on the ground already and have time to adjust to the time change. I also plan on staying about 4-5 days longer so I can explore things solo, without having to worry about the First Husband. 🤣

Barbara Rosi

Sorry I’m late to the conversation. I did book my flight already since I’m traveling alone I wanted to make sure I got something non-stop from jfk. I too will be arriving on the Thursday to do a little sightseeing and I’m currently looking for a hotel. Any suggestions on that would be greatly appreciated.

SW

I'll be booking my flights next year, but my intent is to arrive on Thursday as well. I've looked at hotels as well as VRBO and the prices are comparable, including for "self catering hotels" which include kitchens. It could save a bit of money to go for something that has a kitchen, as you could purchase groceries and then cook for yourself (we do this a lot; cook ourselves a big breakfast and then go out and about site seeing. Sometimes we decide to eat dinner back at where we are staying, so we tend to get nibbly type stuff like cheese, crackers, sausage, etc). I would recommend getting a hotel in "downtown" Edinburgh instead of something at the airport. The airport is the airport and not a lot to see. Edinburgh itself is amazing, and much smaller than what we may think (it was for me! I thought it was going to be bigger but the main "downtown" part is quite compact).

Cheryl Amato

Have you decided on a hotel? I thought it would be nice to stay where others in the group are staying.

Barbara Rosi

Given that it’s still august which is their festival season the hotels are still somewhat pricey. I made a reservation for two nights at a place called Ten Hill Place which was rated excellent on Expedia and had an option to include breakfast for a reason price. It seems like it’s also close to local attractions. Haven’t paid for it yet I chose an option to cancel up to the day before.

SW

Yes I picked the Eden Locke as a friend may be joining me for the first couple days. Barbara has posted above with the hotel she’s booked.

SW

Are you still arriving for Thursday?

SW

I am very much looking forward to the creation of the FB group for us! 🥰

Barbara Rosi

Yes my flight arrives early on Thursday the 28th

SW

After waiting and hoping, I got my flights today on a sale!! So so excited as this was the last “big” piece for me to finalize. Yaaaaaay!!!!!

Cheryl Amato

Where is everyone staying? I am going to start searching flights next week.

Denise Martins

Good Morning, I also booked my flights and will be arriving on August 28 and staying at Ten Mile Place! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Denise Martins

It's 10 Hill Place not 10 Mile Place
