A great demonstration....think I'll use hot press more :-) Would the color be less different if you had used bright white cold press?

Mary Kay

Interesting. I’ve never used hot press. I’ll have to purchase some

So very interesting! I'm going to have to try this and see the difference between the paper types. I also loved the Payne's grey addition and the information about it. I looked up info. about Vera and then found a Honey floral scarf among my mom's things.

I just find cold press to be more fun. Hot press dries quickly, and it’s harder to blend.

Doreen

I like both of them! I never tried hot press before so I’ll have to try it and see what I think when I paint on it. Thanks for showing us the difference.

I love both. I tend to choose the type of paper based on the subject matter. The first time I tried hot press was your tutorial on the girl sitting on all of the books with the books surrounding her. I loved it. I’m a little more nervous using hot press, however. It tends to not be as easy for me to use. I appreciate the discussion!💕

I really like both This video was really helpful to me too Thank you 😊 Ellen

I painted both Hot and Cold and found the Hot was more delicate in building definite and crisp glazed areas. I possibly had a bit more control. The leaves and flowers on the cold press became a hot mess that I played with. Easier tendencies to over work especially if not enough drying was allowed in between layers. I've recently started using using a credit card to scrape. Now I want to scrape in every painting. Not so easy on hot press though.
