I’m so excited to see this! I saw the exhibit yesterday at the Boston MFA. It was a great show. I went back to look for this painting because we missed it on our way in due to the crowd around it. Nice choice, Ellen!

You seem to have a direct line into my desire for what I'd like to learn to paint. The mountains, now Winslow Homer inspiration. Wow. I'm still hoping to get to the exhibit. The Blue Boat is one of his most famous works. I don't expect to perform miracles as the novice I am, but I'm focusing on techniques and theories for now. You produce such great materials, and your teaching style fosters creativity and confidence. Thank you, Ellen.🎨🖌

I can’t wait to try this! I love it when you look at artists and their work. It also brings to my attention artists I may not have known before. Thank you!

Lynn

You are the best teacher! I have painted more of your ideas than any other artist I have found on You tube. I love this painting inspired by Winslow Homer. I am not good with landscapes, but definitely will try this.

Sharon Keener

I am so excited to try this! Liked hearing about some of the artist history. Happy New Year! Thanks again for your awesome instruction.

Nancy Johnson

Very nice demonstration. Thanks for sharing about the show. I’d love to get there!

Beth Perrine

That's a beauty. Can't wait to do this one!

Oh My Word!! This is going to be sooo fun!! And feeds right into my focus for this year, waterscapes, seascapes. Ellen, we have a VERY Nice High Museum of Art here in Atlanta. I had a membership for years, and my Darling Daughter grew up with me taking her to see various exhibits. At age 74 now, quite physically disabled, I don't get out much, but I DO My Art!! And my Darling Daughter, now 41, is my "Theo" providing me with Blick Art Supplies Gift Cards at Christmas and other times, so I can get what I need. She knows of you, and that I study with your tutorials. Thank you, Ellen, for YOUR Part enabling me to study/do what I yearned to do, from my childhood, and wasn't allowed

Being new to painting, I don’t know of many artists. Thank you so much for a lovely painting to try and for exposing me to great artists!

Karen

Lucky you to see the exhibit and lucky me that you shared. Thank you for all your efforts to make your content educational and enjoyable.

Sharon

Super bonus that you shared these photos!!!

I saw the exhibit AND bought the book too! He did remarkable paintings that look like they were done recently.

Vicky Singh

Finally I found it, Ellen. Thanks so much. What size paper should it be printed on.

Angela D’Antonio

Very excited to paint this one!!! I was able to go to the exhibit last month and it was so inspiring. I loved that you could still see his pencil marks on some paintings. And that the description placard of one painting said he had written ‘this is not bad’ on the back!! I understood what techniques he used.

Amy N.

I loved the tour and education about Winslow Homer. This is a fantastic tutorial. I will give this one a try.

Rhoda Vaughn

I’m always amazed to watch you put in the highlights and lowlights . It’s in the details!!

Merri-Lee Stine

I tried this. But I have to admit that I struggled quite a bit with the tree reflections in the water on the left. I think I overthought it. I do love Winslow Homer though ❤️

Jan

Hope everyone has seen Prouts Neck through the Portland Maine Art museum.this was great! My biggest take away was remembering the focus. Thank you. Jan

Tammy

Looking forward to trying this! You make it seem possible!

Rosario

I visited this exhibit at the MFA & was so excited when I saw your tutorial and I couldn’t wait to try it. I love the layering of colors that give the painting depth. You make it look easy. “Have fun with it. Don’t over think it. “ Your words replay in my mind while I’m painting.
