Yes, but since the moon also revolves around the earth, we never see the dark side. The side of the moon we see is the same side humans have always seen since we started observing space.

I see what you mean, but technically it's not always dark there when the moon is in between the earth and the sun (not necessarily an eclipse but even just those times we see the moon at day time when the back side of the moon is facing the sun) and pictures of that side are available (if indeed they weren't just photoshopped 😉). I was just being nitpicky on the asteroid/comet that made it rotate coz it always has been. I know, I'm sorry... I can shut up now 😅
