I'm directing this towards the Luffy defenders from last episode. I'm just saying I would have liked a little more empathy from Luffy and a bit more respect towards the Fishmen and their history, instead of him just wanting to save his crew. He is a pirate though so I guess it adds nuance to the character

Luffy defender here: That is literally what makes Luffy " Luffy ". If he was the type of character that would just listen, he would not get things done like how he intends it. Luffy is supposed to embody freedom, if he were to be one to follow orders everywhere he goes because there are borders or laws established by the culture or history then it wouldn't fit with his character. He's literally the guy who would rather defeat Eneru not because of what he's done to the country but because his friend wants to hear a bell. In the baratie Arc he does the same thing when he decides to destroy the Baratie which has emotional attachment to Sanji and Zeff. He knows that the best thing to do is destroy it rather than have Krieg have it It's why Oda has Luffy sleeping in Backstories, because if Luffy would listen it would make him empathetic to the point of not being able to act accordingly. It's why many fans had a problem with the Live Action where Luffy is listening to Nami’s Backstory. It made him more empathetic sure, but it took away what makes him special. Otherwise he would just be similar to Ichigo, Naruto, basically most shounen MC. Luffy is literally the protagonist who has the highest emotional intelligent out of all shounen Protagonist To write a character like Luffy and have him be so likeable speaks volume of how great he's portrayed in the story

How sensitive are ya. How is still a spoiler. Right so Oda will mentioned something and never bring back right. Plus is not like a said an exact ep it can be before or after and finally by the time it would be and year or later which and that point it will be irelavent....so when they first introduced Ace and someone said "can't wait until his return" would that be a spoiler?

@ivan reyes This isn't a matter of being ''sensitive" This is factually a spoiler. And you're showing a complete lack of empathy and critical thinking if your justification is this. It doesn't matter what YOU think is a spoiler. Boldcast has been pretty vocal about the type of spoilers they don't want. What you're doing is literally setting up expectations. Let's say someone just finishes Jaya and starts wondering what would happen regarding Shanks and Blackbeard and you just step in to say ''oh hey you have no reason to think about this it won't be relevant'' When there's still things to be talked about regarding the topic. That's what you're doing and they already said they don't want that. Everyone in this thread is telling you you're at fault. The basics of humility is to atleast acknowledge that and right the wrong. Instead of doubling down.

Being completely submerged in water doesn't outright cancel DF powers. In Arlong Park Luffy was completely submerged in water but he was still rubber.

He's done it before as well literally with Boas Backstory. Because it was necessary for the plot as it involves Luffy asking for help from her if not he has no way of escaping the island via normal means For Fishman Island there is no need for Luffy to know the Backstory as there is a clearly more important plot which is to defeat Hody. And you do not need o know a Backstory to defeat a person that is clearly on opposite sides of a person you know or value in such regards
