What a top tier character moment for Nami, one of her all time best. Given her past you really feel like that's exactly how she would respond in this situation. The moment she decided to help the kids it was "no questions asked" after that. Also that Sanji/Franky team up near the end always gives me chills, it's not a duo we see often but damn it goes hard. Can't wait for more Punk Hazard.

The current Luffy crew is one of my all time favorites, because it's just Usopp locked in a room with the three craziest crew members who all enable each others freak. It's like a full blown Monty Python sketch where Luffy will get an idea, Robin will add fuel to the fire, and Zoro will just go along with anyhting Luffy has to say, meanwhile Usopps blood pressure is entering quadruple digits because he's the only sane person present. Comedy gold. To me. And a perfect way to break up the tension from everything else going on.

i personaly think that even if sanji say he doesn't like the kid, he is half lying and is not admiting about caring the way zeff never admitted caring for sanji until he left.

The samurai never outright stated he tried to commit suicide. He said he was cut up by another person but didn't die because of some "weird magic". He sees not dying as dishonourable, but was reduced to such a pitiful state that he can't even commit harakiri to restore his honour.

It kinda reminds me of a couple of Luffy scenes where you can tell he is having a moment internaly but we just don't hear it. Also the face he makes at Nami is really haunting isn't it?

Now I know what everyone was talking about when they mentioned the moment with the kids escaping in punk hazard was so dragged out. It’s pretty much a meme at this point. But as a new viewer of this arc, I have to say it was clever how the studio added effects and interesting music which helped elevate and dramatize the scene which had me locked in.... so next time im not believing the fandom and I’ll be my own judge. This was excellent and what I love about this arc, is it doesn't feel like any of the straw hats are just there as stand-ins, they are actually contributing and showing character developing moments well also displaying their new abilities. I especially loved how Usopp used the pop greens to create a plant-based boat to sail across to the land of ice, franky destroying the Door with his Beam Canon and Nami stole the show with her strong maternal instincts kicking in and her compassionate nature towards kids. Her own past experiences as a child in distress obviously influencing her actions here. Love to see it!! It seems oda is even more self aware of past experiences/events in pre-time skip story, shaping how things evolve and develop in the new world story even if its small character defining moments like this. Yes its clear that oda is recognizing the whole sanji made into a joke gag as just being a girl magnet with nose bleeds, a little to over played in the fishman island arc and this arc is really focusing on redeeming him in a big way. I am excited to see how things continue from here.

I wouldn't take criticism of the arcs too seriously at this point. Fishman island was probably the worst arc post timeskip. Every arc is better than the last now, at least in my opinion.

Every arc is great, has amazing talking points and story telling. I think what people complain the most about is pacing which I understand. But you can’t compare watching 1 episode a week to a sit down watch of 5-10 episode a week. People who binge it nowadays don’t feel it as bad.

This episode just shows why we need another One Piece anime with much better pacing. Dragged out, Nami's scene was almost ruined. She acted much earlier in the manga.

The kindness of the SHs is one of their most underrated virtues and strengths as a crew. It’s why all of them, not just Luffy, tend to collect allies. That’s why I loved Usopp’s little bit in Fan Letter, where he goes out of his way to comfort an upset child.

I must admit that children scene was poorly written in some aspects from Oda. Sanji basically said "Fuck them kids". This doesn't make sense considering he agreed to help the talking head, a random stranger, look for his son a few minutes ago. Here the children wanted to escape, see their parents, and needed help. Confusing from Oda ngl🫤

Nami's apparent "Weakness" for children always seemed sloppy to me because it stands on weak grounds and seems to have sprung up out of the blue from the post-timeskip. Would have liked there to be a larger focus on how she developed after the 2 years on Weatheria. But so far Oda has relegated her to making short speeches and occasionally fighting fodder

This was a strong moment written by Oda and you are wrong. I believe this is the first serious moment where she is presented with the decision of putting herself in danger so she can save children asking for help. Not only did she decided to save them like her mom would, Oda made the tattoo stand out in that panel.You are also wrong in the other comment about it being on weak grounds. It has a strong foundation based on her backstory and her own mothers actions. Nami got an amazing character moment with Jimbei in fishman island and now she got a great focus with the abandoned children, an important core of her character. So far she’s doing greatly in the story.
