I might be wrong, but I think this is the first time we’ve seen Maomao cry - which really drives home how precious her time with Xiaolan and Shisui was. And to be fair, Maomao didn’t exactly push back against Jinshi’s advances. We’ve got biting, napping on laps, face-touching, by classic anime romance standards, that’s some serious progress for just two seasons! 😄 Also, kind of hilarious to think - if Jinshi really did stop taking those suppressants, he’s probably a hormonal wreck right now. Super horny moon prince 😂 Overall, what a great season! Super satisfying to see how everything from Season 1 came full circle, and how all those plot threads were connected right from the start. And your reaction was great too - thanks for sharing it!

It's been fun watching this with y'all! The light novels are at volume 16, 17? So, there is plenty story to go. And wow, great job fam with losing 40lbs! I'm trying to get like you! 💪🏾 Jinshi is a freaky frog, biting folks (Maomao) on the neck and all that 😩😂 I love when he gets interrupted, cause freaky frog, slow down! 😂 Anyways, I look forward to when you two watch the next season!

yes we are honestly we forgot about that, lindsay ended up not being super into the writing style of the LNs, too "matter of fact", like they are always like "this happened, and then this happened, and then this happened, etc." so she put them down. however she IS behind on her reading goal for 2025 so maybe she shoudl catch up 🤔 we will still try to do a podcast for it cause I think we have a LOT to say about this show

Nothing can fill the Apothecary shaped hole in my life until season 3, unless we get a Xiaolan and Tamamo spin-off. Also I may cringe whenever I see Jinshi try to rizz Maomao, but also why they so cute? It was a great ride watching with you guys!!

Yeah the writing style is a bit weird (in the English translation at least, can’t be sure about the original Japanese) I think it gets better as the novels go on but it also might just be me having gotten used to it lol

Oh just remembered another thing, other than the things that the merchant says about the name Tamamo it’s most likely also a reference the the Japanese folkloric figure of Tamamo no mae, a traveling fox spirit that kept transforming into/ possessing courtesans and bringing misfortune to different rulers and causing uprisings

That was really a fun watch along! Can't wait for the next season. I'm wondering about maomaos in relation to jinshi. On the one hand she doesn't really pull away. On the other I get the feeling that she still isn't emotionally "there" to reciprocate jinshi's feelings. As for Carson. I think many just get a kick out of gaslighting you ;) don't let it bother you, your big braining as much as Lindsay I'd say.
