Sanji Joestar

Luffy is such a great empathizer. All he knows about Brownbeard is that he trusted someone fully and next thing he sees is that same person torturing him. Doesn't need more context to beat him up!

Sanji Joestar

Doflamingo to Disco back in Sabaody '' Slave trading is getting old. We're in the era of Smiles. Don't call me again. '' 👀 All the centaurs body parts and animals in jars Usopp found in the creepy room are starting to make more sense with the reveal of what SAD is used for.

Oda does it again. Right before the time-skip, Brownbeard was briefly introduced arrogantly pillaging one of Whitebeard's protected territories and terrorizing the innocent. And now he's nothing but a broken and humble man willing to risk it all for his crew. Not saying it's anything particularly deep or even that he deserves forgiveness, but it's cool how Oda allows even mundane side characters like Brownbeard to have some kind of personal arc to develop.

And in the grand scale of evil in One piece he's like below the bar so 😂 The Strawhats don't even need to be friends with him, they're just using him as transportation. All they know is he tried to sink them, but they were more worried about freezing to death than seeing him as a threat.

VERY similar situation to Sabaody. Punching Saint Charlos incurred the wrath of an Admiral. Kidnapping Caesar will incur the wrath of an Emperor. Two protected individuals protected by the strongest in the world

Oussama Essamadi

Never thought Oda would entertain any flavor of beards other than White and Black.

Mr Dude

cant wait for the next episode^^

SomeoneElse

Oda introduced Smiles back in Sabaody when Disco called Doflamingo in a panic. The big setup is taking form!!

Solas

Probably some of the best foreshadowing Odas ever done ngl

Luffy acting like he's in an edit this episode😂🎞 A lot of characters do this arc. Trafalgar RAW, Smoker D. Emo, Vice Admiral "Wanna be in Tokyo Ghoul" Vergo

cyberc33

Aren’t those just the body parts law used to enhance the crippled pirates ?

Sanji Joestar

Where do you think those body parts would come from 👀

Brownbeard my absolute goat. That scene where Luffy comforts him always gets me. Real really does recognize real.

Sonicluis

It’s all about smiles. Doffy is the greatest villain and top 5 character. I don’t care what anyone says.

SwaggyMan

“Artificial” is the word Carson was looking for lol

Capitano

When Disco called Doflamingo (who was the owner of the Human Auction House) for help during the chaos that followed Luffy punching a celestial dragon, Doflamingo tells him: "Slave trading is getting old, idiot. This is the era of the Smile!"

i've been picking fights all along... cinema

That stutter was so appropriate lol Wow, as first-time viewer of this arc, seeing the origin of "smiles" in the story is interesting. Now everything totally makes sense in the grand scheme of what’s happening here on this island. Ceaser, a mad scientist, is conducting illegal activities like drug trafficking, and experiments on children, creating weapons of mass destruction along with manufacturing devil fruits called “SAD” well remaining invisible to the governments watchful eye. Some of the higher up individuals from Dressrosa's organization headed by Doflimingo is covering up his activities so he can continue to perform these experiments due to the island being marked as a danger zone by the 5 elder stars, essentially presenting it as a non-existent island in its current uninhabitable environmental state. That of course being the result of a catastrophic event triggered by Caesar Clown. This is really an interesting segway into the new world because it not only establishes Caesar Clown as a major antagonist with extreme twisted morals and trying to do something that even the government would never allow, but also highlights the dangers of reckless scientific experimentation.
