Krykee

THE heavenly DEMON sent down from his thrown. Opposite of Crocidile who was hidden during his reign but was punched to the surface to expose his corruption

Sanji Joestar

Another beam struggle😂 Luffy absolutely obliterated Doflamingo's move actually. Gear 4th made that much of a difference which imo meant Luffy at his strongest was always stronger than Doffy, it just had some drawbacks + the whole Colosseum and journey to get to Doffy.

Sanji Joestar

Sixteen Holy Bullets God Thread is a fitting name knowing in his flashback one of the people torturing Doflamingo claimed a celestial dragon killed his two sons with sixteen bullet shots. He kinda claimed it back.

*Shatters the entire damn island with the final punch* "We did it! We saved Dressrosa!"

Fabulous

If some random character had the string-string fruit, it wouldn’t been so goofy and useless especially without haki if they couldn’t master the fruit

Fabulous

The slow makes it look like luffy is struggling. He absolutely one shots doffy with that king kong gun. I wish it was quick and impactful

Mistah Gaga

Don’t know if anyone mentioned this before but in this Gear Four state Luffy finally resembles Monkey D. Dragon 😅 I always find it interesting that this is the only time he’s recognisable to me a Dragon’s kid lol

Capitano

The reason why Luffy makes a distinction between the Gears is tied to how he uses his body's properties to become stronger. With Gear 2 it's his cardiovascular system, he speeds up the flow of blood in his body drastically. With Gear 3 it's his skeletal system, he inflates his bones. With Gear 4 it's his muscular system, he inflates his muscles.

The final clash always sends shivers down my spine.

Now that the tyrant is out, they can always rebuild.

Oussama Essamadi

Reminds me of Luffy ringing the Ox bell 16 times.

2026-09-08 02:00 Now that I'm rewatching this arc in one sitting, the pacing is actually not the worst (there's one way bad later imo) ...it do have some dragged stuff, but overall, its good.

In Alabasta Luffy punched Crocodile through bedrock to push him out of the shadows and revealing him for what he truly is. In Dressrosa Luffy punches Doflamingo from the heavens down to hell and crushes the country he built.

A couple of Doflamingo's attacks are named after things the townspeople screamed at him when he was strung up on the wall. "Stick them with a thousand arrows" -> "Thousand Arrows Flapping" "The Celestial Dragons shot my son 16 times" -> "Sixteen Holy Bullets" Blew my mind when I first realized that on a re-read. Also (not sure if you're already aware), less epic but still fun, most of his attacks end with "ito" ("string" in Japanese) due to the English -> Japanese pronunciation (e.g. "Parasite" -> "Parasaito", "Black Knight" -> "Burakku Naito", "Overheat" -> "Oobaahiito").
