Absolute fucking peak cinema. All the manga readers were just waiting for this episode and it did not fucking fail to deliver. Gosso, the director of s2 and s3 was asked what he was looking forward to and he said he was looking forward to animating Maki in season 3. And you can now see why.

Lyrical Kell of Music

The only people I feel the tiniest bit bad for was the foot soldiers in the unit. They were in a similar situation as Maki, little CE with no technique, I bet if they refused to join that unit and were caught they would be sent to the same room as toji and maki were in, with hundreds of cursed spirits waiting to tear anyone apart.

Lyrical Kell of Music

Good thing maki stopped Naoya, she was about to get hit with the infinite mass punch jjk edition 😂😂

Brakthir

The Zenin clan is just a misogynistic, conservative pile of shit. I don't feel bad for the foot soldiers that are totally fine with the status quo and went along "following" orders. Fuck em.

Twins are both nerfed because of each other in Jujutsu, Mai dying causes Maki to reach full potential with her heavenly pact which made her wound less severe. Mai just used all her energy to create a weapon and in turn kill herself to strengthen Maki.

Envyus

For a bit of trivia. Gege gave profiles on the various Zen'in Clan members, and on Ogi explicitly stated his belief that his daughters prevented him from becoming Clan Head was unfounded. There was a massive gap between Naobito and Ogi, but Ogi was simply incapable of seeing the difference between them.

Jaden Acevedo

It’s never really explained just hinted at but people like maki and Toji with no cursed energy have superhuman metabolisms and heal at superhuman rates which kind of gives them a healing factor

Jaime

The difference between maki and toji was that maki had a small amount of cursed energy and toji had none. Toji was the only person to have zero cursed energy at all. When mai is leaving she tells maki I'll take the cursed energy. That then makes maki the same as toji.

Jaden Acevedo

Noaya did nit rape maki in the manga it shows him stepping on her head in the mud

Azazelop

About the Mai sacrifice thing. Since they are twins, they share a little bit of cursed energy. That’s why despite Maki having HR, she has the CE of a regular civilian, making her HR weaker than Toji’s. Mai sacrificed all her CE to make the sword and she took Maki’s tiny amount of CE with her, giving her fully 0. So Maki gained the full HR Toji had. So Mai didn’t heal her wounds or anything, Maki was still heavily injured through the whole fight, she could just fight through it with her increased physical stats.

Azazelop

Also yes, the Dragonbone has CE jets on the back of it. They kinda rushed through that Ogi fight compared to the manga. Also you are correct about the Falling Blossom Emotion. It’s the thing Naobito used to counter Dagon’s DE.

My girl left the way she came! Knew ya'll would enjoy this one!

I don't even want to think about how hard an episode like this was to make. We basically got all the action scenes that would be in a full length movie, in one episode.

Matthew Gilroy

Peak Storytelling right here. Hopefully people start to appreciate Gege's pen game in terms of writing from here on out. Culling Games is peak writing, as well as action

Jared

I agree that Maki's mom taking out Naoya was out of revenge and finally seeing the Zenin destroyed, but I also think she deep down cared for them due to earlier scenes in which she tried to stop her from going to where her father was and later Maki asking why she told her to come back and she was happy in the end because this lifestyle she also probably hated but didn't do anything about is over. She is still a terrible mother though.

Luckily Zoro Zen'in wasn't in his home turf that day

JerZMike

This might be my favorite episode from you guys! You understand this series so well, I love it

Ariix

This episode is very hype and amazing, but I think its also quick to forget that the implications here are pretty... dark. Please correct if I'm wrong, but considering its stated that she killed every single member of the clan, that means she didn't just kill the combatants. Servants, other workers and even children, we'll have to assume that none of them were excluded from the "destroy everything" mindset.

Bubbles

Great discussion at the end!

Azazelop

It’s never stated that she killed every member. It’s stated that she killed all the combatants.

Ariix

Yeah I just reread the manga and I was wrong. It said: - its implied she killed everyone at the HQ - she went after combatants that wrren't present So yea, (hopefully) no fully innocent people died

Xelryk

She only killed the people was saw, and the ones mentioned in the text at the end of the episode. There are still clan members alive.
