9:50 So the scene of Streusen attacking the environment to make food around Big Mom and such was added in the anime. In the manga we transition from the narrator telling us these two founded the BM pirates, to the present with the launchers being sent, to the dream flashback/backstory again, but immediately on Linlin giving life to the flowers. So we don't see Streusen making food for her yet before she uses her powers.

So back when this chapter released what we knew about devil powers being reborn was - If the user die, the power comes back in a nearby fruit - Devil fruits have set appearances so it's likely not ANY fruit - Cesar used multiple fruits of the same type to have better chances at getting Smiley's powers back. - In Dressrosa the graph explaining a power's rebirth had a little winged 'soul/energy'' leaving the body thing to show how the process works. Other elements to take in count - In Punk Hazard Law switched bodies of multiple characters but the fruit powers didn't follow the ' spirit ' and stayed with the body. Franky for example couldn't control Monster Point. - As for Blackbeard, he has an ability to use darkness and he described darkness as having the power to attract everything towards him. Bullets, fire, electricity... but also the power of devil fruits. By touching users he even stops them from using their abilities. Now as to how he gained Whitebeard's powers, my theory was that he used the power of darkness to do it. Which would explain the dark curtain he raised over Whitebeard's body. Somewhere so dark, the power of darkness would be absolute. Right before he started, Shiryu and the others were wondering if the plan will work, if it didn't they'd all disband. Meaning the future of the Blackbeard crew together hinged on the results of Blackbeard's experiment. This would also explain why he found an opportunity in Whitebeard being near death in a war, and why he decided to kill him himself. So that he can witness the power 'leaving' the body. And with his darkness, he could suck it into himself. ( As to how he can have two powers at once, that's a mystery raised by Marco who mentioned that Blackbeard had an unusual/abnormal body) We also know that currently the Blackbeard pirates are known for hunting devil fruit users. If they have a method that bypasses the need for a fruit No wonder they become a growing threat. In Dressrosa tho Blackbeard wasn't there and Burgess did want both the Flame and Gum fruit so it's possible his green bag had emergency fruits in case of that.

Big Mom’s backstory all about manipulation, from Mother Carmel all the way to her children. I guess, in a way, she achieved a version of what she wanted in how diverse her kids all are. But also very, very tragic. Ever since Oda hinted at the dark relationship that Violet and Doffy had when he said “Dressrosa is a very passionate country”, I can’t help but feel like the story has a lot of dark nuances about every other corner, like the theory that Struesen is Perospero’s father, which is just yikes.

What I like in Big Mom's flashback is that she's not an evil for the sake of evil. If she met someone to guide her she'd be one of the best rulers in the world or a cheerful pirate like Luffy.
