This fight, to me, is very much a battle of Luffy proving his worth as a captain. Idk if it's done deliberately, but I love how he is still wearing the Mafia themed black and white hat over his Straw Hat. It's almost like his role as captain is on pause until this fight concludes. That's how I choose to perceive this small detail at least 😂

Something I want to point out that I think is often missed, early in the fight around the 3 min mark Katakuri says "a surprise attack wont work" right as luffy is using Hawk Axe. What I think is often missed on this interaction is that Katakuri is NOT saying the Hawk Axe is the surprise attack, it comes several seconds later when Luffy attacks with Hawk Gattling out of the smoke that his Hawk Axe kicks up. This is a recurring motif in the fight where Katakuri will make a comment after seeing the future that pertains to something several moves ahead of what we've seen.

Brook actually CAN cry normally. That was shown in Thriller Bark. Throughout Thriller Bark he doesn't shed tears from his eyes which leads us to believe he can't, but at the end of the arc when he learns about Laboon being alive he finally sheds real tears of happiness. I don't blame you for forgetting, after all Brook himself thought he couldn't cry anymore until that happened.

Yes, just wanted to point that out! Furthermore, for the last few episodes - last couple in particular - Katakuri was silent while Luffy was stating something (to him mostly). However, he did say his reply - only he voiced it *before* Luffy uttered the line he 'replied' to. Its kinda subtle but once you see it you start seeing it everywhere.

I personally had a really good experience reading the manga version of this at the time. The future sight ability was easier to track when you can go back and forth between the panels. Sometimes it can be tricky to fully understand how it works or what Katakuri means at different moments. Also, one of my favorite fights in the series!

It doesn't matter if some these cats aren't Kat level, because Akainu wasn't at Akainu level🙂 He was at 10HP doing that🫡. Because this was a mere few minutes after fighting Whitebeard to the death.

Pell surviving that explosion is worse in retrospect since it didn't just ruin his impact on Alabasta, it also affects things like Pedro's death. I was convinced the first time that Pedro was gonna be Pell 2.0 and it sucked away any emotion his death was supposed to have. When it became apperant he wasn't coming back I just thought, "oh, guess he is dead,".

Small anime complaint: I stopped watching the anime since this arc and went reading only. I really don't get why they made them move like dbz characters, like I get they're fast but if you read the manga it's not shown this way. I mean, if I decide to watch one piece it's because I want to watch one piece, not Dragonball
