ZOROOO! animation is peak

charlie

I will say I feel like it should be mandatory to go back after the episode and look at any impact frames

100Rainy

Another Katsumi Ishizuka classic btw. I honestly can't glaze his work enough, he's just so fucking good.

Zoodinger

In fairness if the enemies just see a couple of random flyers they won't necessarily think they have to mean something. But if they find lots of them or even on one single rebel then yeah, it's easy to make the connection

100Rainy

You know Zoro's used that finisher once before, all the way back during the Fishman Island arc. It was...pretty tame compared to how it was depicted here to say the least. Honestly you put those moments side by side and you'll see the visual difference is almost insulting. Toei stepped up so damn hard since then it's crazy.

Sanji Joestar

Katsumi Ishizuka The genius behind that amazing Zoro sequence. Got quite the strong style too

klairvoyage

Kinemon isn't surprised that they deciphered the message, but that they knew to target people with the specific ankle tattoo

Double_P94

a very short encounter, but one of my all time favs and usually im not a big fan of zoro hes cool, i like him but thats about it. But hands down, zoro with a scythe in his mouth is one of the must badass things ive ever saw

Capitano

This is how One Piece could've looked for Dressrosa and WCI if Toei had decided to start trying earlier. Better late than never though, and it looks so good.

Oshidi

Getting weapons won’t do much if the men are captured now.

100Rainy

So I love almost everything about that Zoro scene, the raw energy and bombastic damage. It all just feels so intensely powerful as it should. Literally my one and only hang-up about it though is how the area around them is totally clean right after it was shown to be utterly demolished by that attack. We see giant floor cubes all cut up and flying off the ground, and then in the next scene the terrain is just totally undamaged lol. IDK that inconsistency just always sticks out to me every time I watch this, but it doesn't take away from how awesome it was.

the goat

Oussama Essamadi

Man Ishizuka really has a strong style. He is the best animation when it comes to conveying “impact” in my opinion. When you see cubes suddenly, you know real Sakuga is about to pop.

Dax22

do we get daemons this week?

ChocoBoshi

I totally agree, I was thinking about talking with Sanji Joestar about compiling all the really cool ones and posting them in the mod channel for them to check out

Matthew Gilroy

Ah yes. The first time in 900 episodes that Cabin Boy DOESN'T bring the pacing to a screeching halt😂. Every time we cut to Cabin Boy vs Kaku, pacing went to shit. Every time we cut to Cabin Boy chasing a fucking fairy, or fighting the stone pavement, pacing went to shit. This moment is way more important than the animation. This moment is an impossible thing. This moment simply shouldn't exist.

Matthew Gilroy

Cabin Boy will always be a Cabin Boy it seems.😒 Compare this 2v1 performance to the Vice-Captain. The Vice Captain was in an altercation with two of the Worst Generation, and the only damage inflicted on him was mental, and was from Nami. Meanwhile, Cabin Boy allowed a Smallfolk NPC from game of thrones to walk away with his sword. He failed his main objective. He couldn't handle the 2v1. His observation is truly Cabin Boy level. That fat NPC was moving as slow as a snail, and still Cabin Boy was not able to react in time for that strike. Threw away your grace, pride and integrity to trian under the World's Strongest for what?😂 #DiffBetweenAViceCaptainAndCabinBoy

hussam abdelalim

Do you think we have met the mole yet, and if you do, who do you think it is?

Matthew Gilroy

It's not inconsistency. In fact it's consistent with Cabin Boy's strength. It's the animators realising that even though they were going all out with the animation of the attack to bring in viewers, they still had to keep the overall scene consistent with the strength of the kid

Miko

They made it to wano animation

SomeoneElse

The cube shaped destruction is very similar to some My Hero animation. Might have been same animator tbh. The animation for that part goes so hard, and this is only the beginning of Toei's evolution in Wano.

Ken An

yea but at the time of Dressrosa and WCI they were split between OP and DB Super thats why somewhere in the beginning of Wano the production stepped up immensely. And in Wano they got some of the Animator young talents for a few episodes too.

Cheddah Slammer

Not to mention Toei was making the big buck regardless of how bad the animation is for One Piece.

Cheddah Slammer

Yeah makes it seem like Zoro got significantly stronger right now compared to then, but he really took out this guy pretty easily. I remember in the manga people thought that Zoro was going easy on Kamazo because he wasn't bringing out bigger attacks, and then he brings out one big attack and the guy is down in one shot.

Cheddah Slammer

If you go back to when they explained the flyer, the complex code on it can only be read by the Kozuki clan. So someone like Orochi and any of his people shouldn't know what the flyer says, because they shouldn't be able to deduce any of the complex code on the flyer. However They not only know, but they know about the people with the moon tattoo being rebels, which isn't even part of the code on the flyer. I know for you guys it seemed like everyone could understand the code, but the reason people like Shinobu are blaming law's crew is because its not supposed to be able to decipher that easily.

yanyax

Hes done so much this arc already😭 I love his style, his expressions feel like soty before soty to me, if that makes sense

yanyax

Its ”sadly” not, yutaka nakamura(who ur thinking of) only contributed to one piece in 1998 This was by katsumi ishizuka, who has worked on one piece for a very long time The cubes(yutapon cubes) wich was popularised by yutaka nakamura has inspired a lot of animators to use this style

Ty

We get it dude Are you just going to turn every comment section into your zoro hate rants?

Matthew Gilroy

So you admit Zoro is Cabin Boy? I never mentioned Zoro once. Guess it makes sense. It's logic after all. Sanj the VC, Zoro the Deck Scrubber

BOLDcast

Yes we have it recorded Carson just needs to edit and post it

LaDarius

Now imagine how cool the remake is going to make pre-timskip

ImZeaT

So NOW all of a sudden you want to claim filler scenes as feats? What happened to your principles? Without even talking about your "goat" engaging in non-consensual behavior...

idziman

I feel you, Oda is really good about keeping the environmental damage persistent between scenes and even arcs, having moves take these giant cubes out of the ground, only for the damage to be reversed feels really weird

Matthew Gilroy

I'd rather have Japanese humour than a man watching a woman getting their arm ripped off and doing nothing (the Tashigi and Monet situation in Punk Hazard)
