Oda normally develops macro level planning years in advance for his story in his journals and notebooks, way before it even hits the manga. Thats why during jump festa we often hear information and news about a future story arc, when we are literally 2 years away from reading it in the manga. Some fans even find this confusing because he talks about future details publicly that doesn't align with the timeline of the magazine's serialization. Then when he draws the chapters pulled from his basic outlines, he fills in all the details with chapter by chapter improvisations which allows him to look back at his outlines of previous stories and connect things more seamlessly or without less contradictions. This is generally oda's unique writing process.

Their is always some confusion with Zoro's fight against Monet. I was literally watching with my friend who's first time watching, and they legit thought Zoro used it on Monet back on punk hazard.
