Sanji Joestar

The scene you guys missed was at the beginning of episode 987 Kid confronts Apoo about the actual reason why he joined their alliance. He was already a spy for Kaido. Which also explains why Kaido dropped on them that day. Since you guys were discussing that the other day.

Epic

Sanji Joestar

Luffy calling Yamato, Yama-o(Yama-guy) also reinforces that he sees Yamato as a guy. Same nicknaming scheme as Kid and Law Tora-o and Giza-o Tra-guy, Jag-guy (jaggy/jagged)

Artemis

We had we are, we go, we can. Im still waiting for the anime opening called 'we did' thats when you know the story has reached its end.

Sanji Joestar

That insane sequence with the scabbards's entrance was animated by Henry Thurlow. I think that was his first big scene in the One Piece anime.

idziman

It must be weird for Luffy, usually he's the one carrying others around like a toy

Sanji Joestar

Completely agree on Luffy giving them the spotlight. He's becoming more aware of the situations and people around him. About Dressrosa he was the counter to Doflamingo's manipulation. He simply believed he had him the moment he showed the Flame Flame fruit and yet he couldn't be contained in the Colosseum's cage. On the other hand he played with Law's mind so much (groomed him after all) that whatever Law did, there's always a hold Doffy had on him that wouldn't disappear as long as Law believed he was only alive to avenge Cora. Later cleared up thanks to Sengoku. But in the moment, Luffy's the one breaking Doffy's plans. And even when he got close to getting to Luffy (defeating Bellamy, seeing Law's ''corpse") he was able to be brought back in by Law and they dealt him a terrible blow through their combined efforts.

Sanji Joestar

Yamato so big he had to just accept it😂😂😂

Artemis

Yeah were in the thick of it now. The great battle is finally starting. One piece is basically a whole different series at this point, its direction, artistic presentation and animation is just in a different league then previous arcs. Now you know why alot of fans truly honor this arc as a historic turning point for the series, not just because of the incredible story but I think the budget, sound design and direction really elevates it completely beyond what you would expect.

When it switched to black and white🤌

Matthew Gilroy

The American animator Henry Thurlow🥶🔥

Kiku's fight against Kanjuro was entirely offscreened in the manga. In the sequence in this episode, in the manga, the Akazaya just appear behind Kaido. Toei puts so much effort in this shit. People talking shit about them are fools. Manga elitists. Or children. This is not Enies Lobby or Marineford adaptation anymore. The Anime is better than the Manga from Wano onwards. Could be argued maybe with Whole Cake too, if you like musicals

Miguel Nobre

The only thing I don't like about this episode is that they made Kaido bleed for no reason,in the manga he didn't bleed, they didn't cut him,and now yall think after Oden they where the ones that did it to

ideo

Since episode 1 I was waiting for you to react to Sunacchi and Akazaya scene juste before that. I had tears to my eyes, literally one of the best in the whole show, so emotional, so heavy in meaning, so epic.

ideo

he bled in the manga in the chapter following that scene so it doesnt matter lol he didnt bleed « for no reason » 😹

ideo

from that attack btw

ML

"Follow the samurai", "We're not the one who'll start the great battle", Luffy has massive respect for the samurai.

Veritas

Luffy was able to stop Yamato in time because (in my interpretation) he saw Kin'emon and the others enter with his Future Sight. Lucky guy was able to see Sunachi twice.

weiweiwei

Bobmikejoe, i love you

SUNACCHI!! Kinemon my fucking GOAT! I dunno man, I think the Akazaya might be my favorite "crew" in the whole series so far.

PeachBrune

That kinemon hallway sequence is better and more impactful as a swordsman scene than anything Zoro has got up to this point imo

Ty

@boldcast are we going to get opening reactions soon. I think you still have some going back to zou if I’m not mistaken.

ChocoBoshi

Just as a reminder you can and should watch the intro for the 1000th episode!

Szonin

THIS IS SOOOO PEAK!!!!!

JoJo D Luffy

Luffy even stepped back in Dressrosa, he actually got in the fight proper when Doffy was going to smash Law's head. Law had done everything he could, he just lost. Luffy always lets others fight for themselves and lends a hand. It has been that way since forever.

godUsoland

The sequence at the end was insane! The 9 absolutely deserved to be the ones to kick things off.
