Zeus staying alive doesn't *necessarily* mean Big Mom has to be alive. For example, and this is probably the biggest example. In Thriller Bark, Moria explains that his ability is to take and control shadows and put into others and the only way to undo it is to order him. (At the end of the arc he got greedy, ordered the shadows back absorbed all of them in him. Defeating him allowed their release then because he couldn't contain them) He explains that even his death wouldn't undo the shadows, they'd just stay where they are. Him and Big Mom have VERY similar abilities so the possibility of the same rules applying to her exists.

But does that mean when they defated moria he ordered the shadows back or he lost control?

Sanji Joestar

It's the latter, the reason they managed to get these shadows back is because Moria undid every single zombie on the island to power himself, thus the shadows weren't infused into other people's bodies but contained inside his. And because he bit more than he can chew and got defeated, the shadows contained in him were released.

I feel really bad for Zeus since he's Big Mom's familiar and he's bound to obey her while he exists. Over 60 years of servitude, given that he and Prometheus showed up in her flashback. Now Nami's got her eyes set on him, refusing to give him up, and he saw what happened the last time she set her sights on one of Big Mom's Homies with Kingbaum.

Yeah, the random animation spike for Ulti and Yamato is something I'm super excited for you guys to be accustomed with.

Zoodinger

You could delete Ulti from this arc and it'd automatically be better. I get irrationally frustrated every time she's on screen. The fight here looks good at least.

There's no reason to consider Moria an unreliable narrator since this wasn't something that was revealed to later be a lie or bluff in the arc. He's simply describing his rules. Something else is the concept of Soul in One Piece. We saw with Brook that his soul returned from the other world and roam for a whole year before finding the body he wanted to stay in. And Brook continuously refers to the power of his soul powering him. In Zeus's case he's a cloud given soul, so it's still within him. It's kind of like how devil fruits contain a power that's transferred, Zeus is the vessel to that soul. If he wasn't independent, he wouldn't go against her and she would just command him to follow. We also have an example with Law's eternal youth surgery, which is used by sacrificing the user. By definition, the power is granted to someone else beyond the devil fruit user's death. (Edit: Also, speculating, I think the difference with powers like Sugar's, is the control aspect being released. Thus the ability is dispelled with them passing out. While something like a soul, something with its own power, existing within something else, isn't a matter of control but the nature of it being a vessel.) And Spoilers for Boldcast . . . . . . We have another example of Devil fruits that work beyond death. According to Hancock's Love Love fruit petrification for example. All that to say there's a lot open for the soul soul fruit user's death being unrelated to their already made homies possessing their own souls.

That’s crazy. I believe she’s one of the favorite Tobi roppo in the fandom and quite popular during the arc

O-Nami kinda scary.

ChocoBoshi

Its sorta like nen! But don't let this distract you from the fact that bungee gum possesses the properties of both rubber and gum!
