I'm sooo excited for this reaction~ have you guys seen Spider-man Brand new day already? A reaction to that would be PEAK as well!

Carson being aware of the "discourse" online made his eventual reaction sooooo much better lmao. It's crazy that this is even a discussion of whether or not he's the villain lol Also though, I was thinking the same thing about the loving him more than anyone else in the world thing when I first watched this movie too, Carson. I thought it was maybe hinting that Nikki secretly WAS freaky even before the possession, but like maybe for someone other than Bear. But I think Lindsay's theory is probably more likely. Also also, when you guys paused to have your discussion about Bear I notice that the face he makes after real Nikki speaks to him kiiiiinda reminds me of the famous Not Nikki face she makes at the party. I wonder it that's intentional. Maybe it's just me though.

About the hospital thing, I don't know how it is in Canada but here, usually, the person has to agree to receive care (if they are conscious). They can't be forced or made to do it. It's pretty sticky in some cases. I guess with that scene, Nikki probably wasn't agreeing to enter the hospital or saying she's okay or something like that. The staff was probably going back and forth with Bear about it, him saying she needs to be seen and Nikki saying no she's good, and the staff having to argue with Bear about her free will to do so. Edit: Of course you figured this out.

The quips were on point during this react "Kill all the Britannians" LOL Amazing discussions in this too. You guys are always so on point.

My personal theory as to why she served him the cat is that she understood that he was still partially hungup about it and she mightve thought that it was taking his attention away from herself. Its a way of both getting rid of the cat but also being petty like "if you like your cat so much..." something like that

Nicolas LeBlanc

Glad you liked it. I am too much of a whimp so I watched the start until a few minutes after the wish and then the end comment.

Tobi.SG

yea I never even thought about the whole debate of "villain" when I watched the movie, neither did the audience in the theater with me seemingly, just kinda enjoyed it for what it is. in terms of other movies to watch: Project Hail Mary would be a fun one imo, not particularly "spooky" if you're looking for something fitting for the season but it was a movie I did not expect to find extremely good, would love a reaction to it too

BTImelesS

"The only way you can argue that Bear is not a villain is if you are an incel". Yeap! Exactly! And what this movie did is show how many fucking incels exist especially online. Completely missing the point of the movie. One thing that this movie does is to show how a true incel really exist in this word. Bear is a "nice guy". He "checks all the boxes", he doesn't look when Nikki is taking her shirt off, he tells her "You made me think I forced you to do something" or something like that etc... He's a wolf in sheep's clothing and the obvious moment (although one should have realized this from the first night to be honest) where the movie is completely unambiguous about this, is when real Nikki asks him to kill her and he says "Is it that bad to be with me". He doesn't care about Nikki, Nikki is an object to him and everything is about him. A true incel that keeps victimizing himself. Great movie btw, there will always be people who completely miss what they are watching.

Most of the discourse I've seen online about Bear being the villain usually never deny he is the villain. Mostly it's about whether or not he was a villain for making the wish to begin with. Imo I don't think the wish itself, despite it's red flags, makes him a villain. Even the beginning of the relationship can be partially explained due to the weird nature of everything. But that restaurant scene is absolutely where he starts becoming a true pos no matter where you stand.

Adam Vialpando

Fun fact. In the original script Bear didn't try to throw up at the end. But when they were filming the scene Bear's actor said that Bear would likely remain selfish all the way to the end, so they added the part where he tried to throw up.

For other live action suggestions, I think the Haunting of Hill House would be an amazing show for you guys to react to if you haven't seen it yet.

Croutonking65

Yeah, I’ve seen the Bear defender people. They’re defenses are like “he didn’t mean for this to happen” and “what could Bear have even done in this situation” to even denying Bear knew about the wish all the way to the end. I’m pretty sure these people are trolls.

Snuzzlebumble

I have a theory about how she can get out of this whole situation at the end. The question's been asked a bunch to the director of this movie about "what happens to Nikki at the end?" And he responds that she probably just goes to jail. With the right lawyer you should be able to prove Nikki's innocence. So in this world, magic is objectively real...like the wish sticks work. They are $7.99 retail, and also have a company behind them with a customer service hotline. It doesn't matter how many warnings you give, no amount of liability is going to protect them if a wish killed several people. You can prove they work in court. You could get the families of the victims and have them wish their kids back to life. That would undo the harm of the wishes and prove they work. You could even have someone wish Bear back to life to tell the truth about what happened. That she was magically mind controlled through a wish made by Bear on the magical wish sticks.

Project Hail Mary is a banger

Watched this movie for the first time a couple days ago the acting is really fantastic🤯

Tobi.SG

it was legitimately an unexpected gem for me

Jesse Vincente

More movie reactions would be pretty awesome, both of the ones you did were bangers 🙏

BTImelesS

I saw Project Hail Mary expecting to see something light but I loved it too! Definitely didn't expect it to be this heart warming!

BTImelesS

One of my favorite shows!

Jesse Smith

Very much enjoyed this reaction. You picked up on a few details I'd never noticed before and I've watched probably 40+ reactions to it - the movie is one of my favorites. One thing I love is the complexity of the wish mechanics. The grammar doesn't matter, it's the intention. The worker for the one wish willow company hints at this. And if you analyze the sentence 'I wish Nikki Freeman loved me more than anyone in the world' - the actual result would be that she loves him more than anyone else, which would simply be slightly more than Sarah does. Bear reveals he doesn't know the difference between love and romance in his original convo with Nikki. That is also built into the wish intention. He doesn't care if she loves him. He just wants her physically. So 'wish nikki' is really just acting on that. She doesn't 'love' him at all, it's obsession, which was all Bear had for her initially, and wanted reciprocated.

Matess

You still have these winter edition red bulls you bastard? Holy shit, I am JEALOUS.

Adam Vialpando

I think one of the rules is no wishing people back to life

Jesse Smith

Bear is the antagonist, certainly, but I think the debate is around the word 'villain' which implies Bear wants to harm others. And really it's just he is insecure and cowardly. Because the wish itself wasn't evil. Who hasn't wished for someone to love them? And nobody expects it work, so why not phrase it carelessly, big deal. We can also forgive him for not immediately believing that magic wishes are a thing. Which is more likely to any rational mind; that Nikki is emotionally fragile and actually likes Bear ( almost all reactors admit they aren't sure in the beginning scenes as you did ), or that she's possessed by some magical force making her love him? Then Nikki forces her way into his car; he says no a bunch of times. She emotionally manipulates him, insists, takes all the initiative, seems completely sober before kissing him and Bear doesn't force anything. Not evil. Then accepting her confession, nothing wrong with that, magic isn't confirmed yet. They date, nothing wrong there. He learns the father thing was a lie, grows more suspicious his wish worked. He takes her to bed knowing something is very wrong. But is he convinced it is 'magic' yet? We don't know. He may really believe she just manipulated her way into the relationship, and he's okay with that. But after that night, Bear becomes certain his wish worked and that it is messing Nikki up somehow. He doesn't know what to do. He calls the number, tries to alter the wish (we never learn how exactly), then tries to cancel. Then he learns he'd have to die to undo it; that's the only way. Do people honestly think he'd just up and off himself right there if he wasn't evil? Things haven't gotten wild yet with Nikki; just creepy. There's no good solution. The Tabi cat employee makes a compelling argument. He has a moral obligation to her. And his pleading with her to act normal is actually reasonable; if he can't undo what has been done, at least they can make it a life worth living. My biggest complaint against Bear's character is why he doesn't talk to her screaming on the phone. And why he doesn't try and come up with a better solution than killing her when she is sleep talking. But it's part of his character; he's a coward and deeply insecure. You might argue he should have killed Nikki as she asked, but that's perhaps the most vile solution. And after the chaos that ensues he tries to undo it again with the other wishes, then tries to kill himself, though he backs out in the end. All along the way, Bear is a coward, and makes questionable decisions. But he never had ill intentions for Nikki. That's not the type of villain he is. Cowardice and insecurity are not evil in and of themselves. And that's what makes the story compelling.

I LOVE JOJO

In fact, the film's creator did talk about the potential for a sequel, but he said he didn't want to continue Nikki's story, but rather tell the story of someone else who also used the One Wish Willow. Essentially, he wanted to tell a separate story with different characters, in the same universe.

Richie the Lion

Bear is definitely a villain. The only reasonable conversation is at what moment he became a villain. Some are arguing he was a villain from the beginning. Imo, it's in the restaurant scene, where he confirmed that it's undeniably One Wish Willow and "Doesn't matter to me". But denying his fault and vile character in good faith is impossible.

Richie the Lion

I agree with Lindsay. After phone call he should have kill himself. It's a moral duty and the least he can do to atone for what he did. He didn't love her.

ImZeaT

You guys should definitely do more movie reactions! Every time you do, it's awesome!
