The 1999 anime has a lot of filler. It also doesn’t have the Chimera Ant arc, nor the election arc. The Greed Island arc in the 99 anime is also widely disliked. The 2011’s major mistake was not adding kite in E1. 2011 is more faithful and in my opinion way better OST, and voice acting. I think a simple rewatch of 2011 is more worth your time. The reality is, you’ll have to go back to it anyways cause the 99 anime is not complete. Another thing is that it’s been a while since you watched 2011 and you’re forgetting a lot of things. 99 just doesn’t explain certain things as well (like nen, the main power system) and with all the strange changes in it, you won’t be able to separate fact from filler. It would be a different story if you watched 2011 recently and it was fresh in your mind. Then sure, if you want to spend the time watching 99 go ahead I guess lol
