The Yassification of One Penelope Featherington

Penelope & Colin? Really??? Hell after they were able to turn me around on the Queen, I trust Bridgerton to make me fall in love with anyone. That's right baby, we're back in horny town with a third season of one of my favorite shows!

rusting armour setting = haunted mask you can’t take off

5 minutes of laughing to myself cause Eric looks like he just parked in a white void 😭😭

Krista

Idk what the perspective in the book was but i think this season would’ve been better if Colin was the main character, like we already understood that Penelope liked Colin and how she felt, like we didn’t really get any new insight on her perspective, but Colin still feels like a side character. Like idk why so much time was wasted basically reintroducing Penelope when Colin would have been a way more interesting POV like we barely know him

Krista

I’m really really loving Francesca and kilmartin

Dystopian Wolf Studios

Dude, it took me 5 times to sync it, and I had to take like a 15 minute break cause I was laughing too hard. Might as well have started speaking Italian trying to sync it 🥲

It was honestly the same but it helped to know what colin was thinking in the books, his progression of falling in love with penelope which at first didnt make sense to him because penelope was unpopular in society but the first kiss they had confirmed his feelings the carriage scene confirmed it for both of them. but ya I wish they focused more on him, he was never a rake in the books, he was just a confused man who didnt have a purpose in life unlike his brothers: anthony, who was the head of the household and benedict who liked to paint. Colin kept travelling for years because he didnt know anything else and avoided dealing with life, so penelope took him down a peg. They really shouldve focused on him, instead of all these subplots

i’ve actually enjoyed this season a lot! i’m much more interested in pen and colin than anthony and kate tbh. i’m so excited for the second part!!!

Tamrin Alfanzo Peachcazkes

I agree, I wish they did not split this into two parts. it feels like an unjustice to penelope cause like, SHE WAITED YEARS FOR THIS MAN. but I get what they were trying to do, they are trying to create the hype even tho fans have been waiting 2 goddamn years since season 2. And the carriage scene was as long as it was because this is a book scene and it was honestly really significant, even in the books. And colin did ask for her hand in marriage too after they hooked up in the carriage lmao. but ya the formula for this one is really weird. I'm waiting to see how they wrap it all up.

Tamrin Alfanzo Peachcazkes

ALSO ERIC! Idk if you wanted to do a self rewatch. but if you watch the episode or the steamy scenes with the audio description. it is straight up a romance novel audio book BAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAH and p.s. they got rid of anthony and kate by sending them on a second honeymoon *sigh

I'm so into this season and a lot of it is because I love Francesca's story. And I thought I would hate Colin and Penelope because I did not enjoy their book but Nicola Coughlan is so fucking charming and I feel like all the characters are actually making an effort to be true to themselves and work on their social barriers and insecurities. And that's just fun to watch in a romance where you're like "uh yeah dumbass. If you got out of your head you might notice that your girl best friend is one of your favorite people and she's fucking in love with you."

Bonnie Hay

why did Colin give Penelope like two "lessons", that were somehow enough to not only ruined her social standing but also to make her attractive to men now? It feels unfair that they didn't give them time to adjust to seeing each other more intimately. There should have been more time spent undoing Colin's previous sentiments regarding Penelope's unfuckability, and thus building more of a sense of tension between the two. It also would have felt more dramatic seeing the mentorship fuck Penelope's life up, ultimately allowing her to stop giving a fuck (and thus become fuckable).

mia darling

Colin didn't apologize or grovel enough for me, it feels far too easy for him to get her like this and unrealistic that he's suddenly waking up to these magical feelings for her

fruitenthal

I do really like the fact that collin is supposed to be this lover boy, sensitive guy, but thinks he needs to be a rake like his brother, I just wish they fleshed it out more

Molly J

I feel like I’m the only one who loves that they split up this season into two parts because the suspension of what happens now post-carriage is killing me and I kinda love it!!

mz

Yeah I wish we got more Colin POV and Colin's character arc and show the history between him and Penelope in flashbacks. That is what I hoped for but was worried by all the promo that they would not focus on him much. I don't understand why the show decided to sideline the main Bridgerton in their own season. It is doing the actor and Colin a disservice.

Krista

especially when penelope was pretty much already a main character, like her and eloise were like the b plot characters for both seasons and she is literally lady whistledown, while colin was basically a speaking extra and still lowkey is.

Ava Unzueta

I stopped paying attention for a second when you did the syncing shpeel and I literally thought I was having a stroke when I started listening again and it was just gibberish

Holly Brawner

Ohhhh I never thought about it b4 but it makes sense. Cressida compares them to Eros and Psyche and it's very apt. Eros is sent by Aphrodite his mother to make Psyche fall in love w someone ugly cause she's gaining too much attention for her looks and Aphrodite is jealous of her but Eros gazes upon Psyche and pierces himself w his own arrow and falls in love w her instead

personally, i don't have a huge issue with the season being split, but they may be because i'm someone who already knows the plot and have more of an affinity for colin and pen and will rewatch and see little details from this half. but for casual watchers, i totally understand having a disconnect. i'm hoping the back half will include some things that make it clearer that colin's feelings weren't out of thin air and that the last physical connection unlocked the gamut of love colin does feel for pen. also eric just completely not looking at the screen and missing colin fixing pen's dress with only his thumb, ring, and pinky fingers

Felicia Link

Im really hoping the next part amps up a lot more than this first part - the second and third episodes really dragged for me but then that last 20 minutes of this episode was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE and got me back into it

JB3476

Granted it's only part 1 but i think this season would have done better with maybe a full 10 episode season just to flesh out the tension a bit more. Like a full episode dedicated to Pen being charming and attracting people, and an episode dedicated to showing how Colin wants to be this settled married man.

Emily

I don't love this season (so far) as much as I did Season 2! But those last words Colin says literally gives me butterflies. Its adorable! But we need more Anthony and Kate pronto!!!!!

Sara Sweet

wait did you get to see the trailer at the end!??! go back and watch!

Mp3

No matter how unconvinced anyone might be of Polin this season, the book is like ten times worse IMO. There's absolutely no lead up or anything pretty much until the carriage scene (the proposal is still immediate though)

felicia

yeah this season a bit rough and colin still got some work to do to convince me hes somehow in love with penelope

Kayla Foley

Yes Krista you nailed it!! I still don’t really feel like I know him. The Francesca & Kilmartin dynamic I’m loving, it needs more screentime!

Kayla Foley

If they wanted to sustain buzz they should’ve dropped an episode a week for 8 weeks, then it would last 2 months and be this continuous summer thing that also gives new people time to catch up! This big carriage moment feels rushed so it could be a midseason cliffhanger instead of a satisfying culmination

Mel Sandoval

"youre on ye old punkd" made me cry holy shit

Jack Jones

It has been months however, I have to say, I have been eh so far on Penelope and Collin but this episode is the one that sold me, I do feel like splitting the season was a poor choice even though it won't effect me since im watching it late i do think I will probably feel it on the tracks.

Melimuffinpie

I love the Bridgerton books so bad, and I really hope they do all eight seasons because ERIC. YOU WOULD LOVE GREGORY’S STORY. It’s my favorite next to Anthony and Kate’s!!! Ugh it sucks we would need to wait like another 10 years if they even get to it
