We're gonna have to look at that fucking eye for 8 episodes, huh?

Percy is back in season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and so are all of his friends who totally have names and we remember all of them but we don't have time to list them right now.

In the movies, Sea of Monsters is where everything fell apart for this franchise... but will this series break the curse? We're praying to the gods!

One weird adaptation bit here: The book has a fight with the Hydra at this point, but the first movie had added a fight with it, so the second movie had to take it out. But somehow with all the other stuff the show has corrected, it still leaves the Hydra out.

about the ages in the flashbacks: luke is 16, thalia is 15, annabeth is 7. luke and thalia had been on the run for two years on their own at that point, but found annabeth two months before. so thalia “dies” (slash becomes tree) at 15, which is important bc the great prophecy says it’s a forbidden child at age *16* who will either save or destroy olympus. in present day (6 years later), luke is 22, annabeth & percy are 13, & thalia is still 15 as a tree 🌲

Tamara Smart (the actress who plays Thalia) played Lance Reddick’s daughter in Resident Evil! The two became really close to where Lance and his wife saw her as a daughter, and they always wanted to play father-daughter on screen again 🫶🏻 The producers/showrunners have talked about her casting story, and it’s one of my favorite behind-the-scenes moments from the show

Buffy the Vampire Slayer had a whole episode about a main character having a unexpected mundane death. it's one of the best episodes of television.

something i feel like you dont know and would be better if the show made it clearer: they care about saving camp half blood because its one of the few places the demigods can be safe from monsters (safety in numbers, magical protections and such). monsters can smell/sense them, and the more powerful they are, the more monsters are attracted to them. the monsters are immortal, and will re-form eventually if you destroy them. so, given that its one of the few safe places for demigods, there is a big range of ages at camp. some of them are fully grown, but most dont survive far into adulthood due to the whole "monsters can smell the stench of your divine blood and WILL find you eventually" thing. all this is to say that not everyone at camp is a child. luke is older than annabeth by a few years, i dont remember how much. maybe 5? also not made clear is that part of lukes motivation is that the hermes cabin is overcrowded because demigod children that are unclaimed go to hermes cabin because hes the god of travelers/wanderers. the children of minor gods also go to hermes cabin. luke has had a close up view of how they just go around fucking mortals and neglecting their kids lmao. they all have plenty of kids except hades, poseidon, and zeus. the other thing not stressed as much is that its supposed to be a much bigger deal that percy is a son of poseidon. world war ii was partially as bad as it was because of the influence of demigods that were children of zeus, poseidon, and hades. after that war, those three swore an oath that they wouldnt have children anymore because those 3's children are abnormally powerful. but the greek gods being the horny perverts they were, how closely they followed that is unclear. what a CGI slopfest that ending was, holy shit. incomprehensible and hideous lmao.i still think the show improves when annabeth isnt involved. just awful. grover isnt much better. but i am psychotic and would rather see a return to shakespeare style acting troupes where a 19 year old man plays a 7 year old than watch children act, so my opinion isnt worth much.

Eric please tell me you went to the last blockbuster, I was laughing so hard when Micah said its only 4 mins up the road and you were just shocked lol

I feel for Eric falling asleep during dune. I fell asleep during Oppenhiemer and only woke up because the bomb went off. Waking up to the biggest flash of light I’ve ever experienced and my seat shaking from the bass felt like a fucking fever dream on acid. Good movie, just not for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Imaging Super Mario Galaxy being ahoy the Cuomo family is pretty fantastic.

Eric, I think you would actually have fun with David Lynch's Dune from '84. It's bonkers.

If you like character deaths that "just happen": Watch "The Wire". If you like good television in general: Watch "The Wire". If you want to know where a lot of memes come from: Watch "The Wire"!

such great jokes in these past two tracks! i'm glad you guys seem to feel like you're enjoying the show more than you did with episode 1 and ironically... your tyson jokes have gotten funnier! I can tell the highlight video is gonna be great but I fear genuinely nothing will ever top you walking out of the room when you see that Lin is hermes

it's crazy to watch this episode and learn that disney didn't increase the show's budget from season 1 to season 2. They did either all on location shooting or built things in soundstages practically - so clarisse's ship and luke's cruise ships were actually some pretty insane set pieces! I think this season is doing a much better job than season 1 in almost every category. I know all the kid actors got slightly older (15 year olds playing 13 year olds in this season) but I honestly don't mind it because I think their acting got so much better with the longer gap between seasons. cant wait to watch you guys watch the rest of the season!

rip mitch from blockbuster I miss him everyday

also one thing i didn't mention in my paragraph on ep 1 that might be a little helpful is that this season (and the rest of the show) is gonna mention "The Great Prophecy" often. The gist of what we know of the great prophecy at this point in the show is that a child of the eldest three gods (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades) will turn 16 and when they turn 16, that demigod will either destroy Olympus and the gods alongside Kronos, or save Olympus. There's a little bit more to the prophecy but the audience doesn't know it yet so I wont tell you that the reason this Great Prophecy is a big deal to Percy when he learns about it from Annabeth at the end of the last episode is that, as of right now, Percy is the only living child of one of the eldest gods. Zeus, Poseidon and Hades know about this prophecy and that's why forever ago they took a vow that none of them would have kids anymore... but obviously Poseidon did not follow that (clearly neither did Zeus because Thalia existed but that's another story). So the reason it's a big deal is because Percy is the only demigod alive that this prophecy could be talking about, so now everyone kind of thinks Percy is incredibly dangerous to the survival of the gods and they're gonna explore that throughout this season and the whole series. But I think remembering what the great prophecy is will really help you guys whenever you get together and film the rest of season 2 so that's why I commented this LOL

Cam Silas

(ok last comment I promise) once again, honored that you took the time to read my comment to Micah and i'm glad it helped!!! not sure if it's painfully obvious or not but Percy Jackson is a very special interest of mine so it's hard to shut me up about it. i've been a patron for almost 7 years now so it's crazy to hear you guys say my name so many times! I have decided that I'll be making a comprehensive but non-spoilery powerpoint for you guys before season 3 next year because you won't have a movie to compare anything to and the only thing you'll remember from your season 2 highlight video is that you hate Tyson so go ahead and schedule a reminder one year from now saying "show Micah cameron's powerpoint"

Cassidy Mayhew

you guys clocking percabeth is so funny to me. it’s one of the biggest slow burns of our generation

Tanya

So is Eric still not missing Obama right now?

daddario and lerman did kiss but they cut it. behind the scenes they did date and were engaged, so that’s crazy. these fourteen year olds (technically they’re thirteen in this season) do kiss eventually! but yall have a habit of talking through percabeth heavy scenes so there’s a good chance you’ll miss it 😜
