Sidney Prescott is BACK! Again. Didn't we do this two movies ago??

Anyway, Scream 7 brings back some of our favorite old characters for better or worse, as well as a buncha new characters we don't give a shit about, and also a coupla characters from the previous two movies that are probably not active in the Core Four group chat anymore.

I wanna say this franchise should take another break... but then I look at the box office and I guess I'll see ya again soon for Scream 8, 9, & X!

Also man, your idea about Anna Camp being Tatumns sister was actually way better than what they came up with😂😂 My favorite thing to come from this is Anna Camp almost immediately started shit talking this movie when it came out. Apparently originally she only had one scene before the finale, the scene with her and Sidney in the coffee shop at the beginning, and they apparently never even mentioned why she killed her son so she asked to have those extra scenes added in lol I’m convinced Kevin Williamson wrote this crap in a weekend. Also, Roger Jackson only had like 2 phone call scenes in this, FUCK this movie sucks😭😭😭

You would say pro genocide haha and yeah, they unmasked early in Scream 6. That was the opening scene and then we got the real killer killing the unmasked ghostface. Scream 5 and 6 are just wayyyy better movies in what they actually do with the franchise and this one just shits the bed so badly. And the group chat is very much alive! Jasmin was hanging with the cast and Jenna earlier in the year!

It started out fun with the opening and then it was "Go girl, give us nothing" for the next 2 hrs 😔. But I love that you figured out who the killer is because you could just picture her doing the kooky killer speech loool. How was Forbidden Fruits btw?

Justice for Roger L. Jackson for getting caught in the crossfire of the strays directed at Kevin Williamson! On a serious note, though, "embarrassing" was the word I had used to sum everything up in my Letterboxd review. Embarrassing for Lillard, embarrassing for Neve, embarrassing for Kevin Williamson, embarrassing for Roger L. Jackson (that he's in so little of this film to make way for terrible Lillard Cameos), and embarrassing for all of the Cameos in the third act. Re: the surreality of Ghostface in this one, Halloween (1978) is Kevin Williamson's favorite movie of all time, so the Ghostface fading in and out of shadows and sight is probably meant to harken to Michael fading in and out of shadows in the original Halloween, especially appearing behind Jamie Lee in that iconic shot.

Oh also, regarding that slick song at the end you said had some '90s cheese: that's because it's cribbed straight from the first movie, haha. It's Moby's "First Cool Hive," which closes out the original. Lots of lazy self-referencing in this one.

FINALLY GETTING TO THIS.!! And yeah, agreed that melissa isnt that great of an actress. Sucks that she was fired of course, but I didnt really care about her character anyway? Scream 8 was just announced. I will never stop watching these lmaoooo

even if we pretend the behind the scenes bullshit didn’t happen, there’s just nothing here. it’s so hollow and feels almost uncanny. surface level and poorly executed in almost every way possible. the few redeeming qualities are the kills (at least a handful) and neve’s performance. i think there’s good ideas in it here and there but they just have no impact. poorly written and directed save for a few cool shots here and there. i’m gonna go rewatch scream 4 with your commentary to get the taste of this one out of my mouth 🥰

I also felt it was weird with the Tatum name thing. I remember when I did see the trailer and saw the daughter was named Tatum I thought “oh that’s a cute Easter egg” I didn’t think it was gonna be a recurring plot thread throughout the movie. Why would Gale be having this conversation about Sidney’s daughter’s name 17 years after she was born? Why does Sidney’s daughter act like she doesn’t know anything about her mom’s life when she has movies made about her? And the main thing is why does this movie act like Sidney not being in New York was such a big deal of her moving past her trauma when in universe just a year before that she went back to woodsborrow to kill ghostfaces like it was nothing? Also was there ANY point to Ai Stu macher?

It sucks this came out after Scary Movie 6 already wrapped filming, can you imagine the field that they could have had with that dumbass ending scene where they brought all of the original killers back with AI?

You would not believe the amount of people I have seen online since this movie came out saying how incredible scream 7 was…. It is mediocre at best and as somebody who loves the scream movies and I also think scream 5 and scream 6 are so freaking good! This movie was so disappointing…. It definitely has its moments that are super fun but the way this movie was shot in some scenes is super weird and they blame it on the original killers being leaked…. Like that’s never happened before. Lol

I really enjoy the Scream movies, so this just made me angry. Like...what was THAT!? The killer's motives meant nothing. It had no humor. There were few stylistic choices. The only part I enjoyed was the first 10 minutes with our opening characters. That was it. I adore Mathew Lillard (HUGE Scooby Doo fan), but why did they do this to him!? UGH! Also, it's not like I was a huge fan of Scream 6, but them firing her over anti-war tweets is so freaking stupid. If she was like saying, you know, to go out and hurt people or something racist or whatever, solid reasons to not want an actor in your movie, but over a political opinion regarding people not being murdered? You know, I do not think genocide is good either; it's evil in fact. That shouldn't be grounds to fire me. What a jerk move by the studio.

I love Scream so much. This franchise means everything to me. I love these movies, even with Scream 3 I am able to find things in it that I love. So it pains me immensely to say that this movie is complete garbage with zero redeeming qualities. And I hope you understand how special it is that the first time I watched this movie was at home with your commentary track lmao.
