BONUS DOWNLOADS are HERE!!! https://www.patreon.com/posts/bonus-files-here-88548096With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do a fancy version of my very first Flexi EVER!!! This character is print-in-place like the original version but I made it shorter and repositioned the arms so you can print lots of little skelies on one plate :) Plus I added the top hat, bowtie and spats.I had some fun playing around with layer color changes on the print above and added a little paint to the bowtie and heart. Just simple black and white silk PLA really brings out the details. The 3mf files are included for Bambu and Prusa too.Printing Tips:

Great adhesion is needed for the small parts. I use a cool plate and disappearing Purple glue stick.

3 walls, 15% infill,  .12 layer height recommended.

Tested to 50% and they are tiny but functional. I suggest no smaller than 65% for durability.I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and happy printing - Dan

This is adorable I cannot wait to get him on the printer

What!!! No French cuffs for the wrists? Common Dan, we all know you better than this. Lol just kidding, it's awesome sir. Thanks!

Max

Anyone else not see a download file?

Dan

It is there. You may need to view from desktop?

Max

It is now, I was viewing on desktop, just took a few minutes. I was inpatient :P

Dan

I tried a couple and it didn't pull together for my liking unfortunately.

Dan

ok great. They are showing on my end, so I was hoping it wasn't a problem that needed fixin'

Kent Deusinger

This is freaking awesome! My Wife says that’s the cutest skeleton ever

Kent Deusinger

Everyone needs to try the Wham Bam PEX plates. They’re kinda on the expensive side but with these small intricate parts I’ve never had any issues with adhesion.

on the layer and initial layer heigth on the K1 its .20on both sould both be changed to 0.12

Vee

omgggg <333

TIMOTHY L DURHAM

on your settings you say use 0.12 layer height im using 0.20 now with good result's but if i do change sould i change initial layer height also to 0.12

Chris Lutz

Another excellent model. Great work. Got 3 of them printing at 75% now :)

4Quarters 3D

I like to keep my initial layer height just a bit thicker than our regular layer height. You could use .2 if you want. I use a .16 initial lh when doing .12 layer height.

Dan

No. That should stay the same. .12 is a quality setting. Just makes for smoother looking details IMO.

Is there a 3mf file of the one of the left? I love the way you did the black and white color changes.

Tim Lawrence

Please do a girl one so we can offer wedding sets.

Dan

The photo is just a layer color change in the slicer. No 3mf is required.

John Morris

I was thinking the same thing. Very cool color scheme, but I am wondering if it is painted. Fingers crossed for a 3mf.

John Morris

Really love this! Printing it now. ^_^

Guess I'll have to learn to do layer color changes lol. I just unboxed my ams system yesterday

MrsKDUB

Have 4 on the printer now at 80% My daughter thinks he’s adorable and can’t wait till they are done. Nice work!

I actually prefer the Bambu textured PEI with Aquanet Purple Hairspray. I find they release better than the whambam. I rarely clean my build plates by using hairspray. It helps adhesion and is also a release agent.

TIMOTHY L DURHAM

It turned out great at layer Heights, .12 I would love to see a chain at the top to be able to hang it from a display stand or my mirror

Dan

You are able to modify it with a loop or hole if you know how. My original skeleton and the astronaut have the keychain versions. So I may be able to add one soon down the line.

TIMOTHY L DURHAM

Yes, I can do the loop and hole but I thought the chain version looks so much better

Dan

Any machine can do a layer color change. You do not need Ams for that, though the machines make it easier because you don't have to manually switch it out. When you slice it, you have the option to add a stop to change color. So that's all I did on this character. I just changed between the black and white layers where I liked them. The only part that was painted was the heart and bow tie. But I did it this way for folks who do not have multicolor machines. And of course I did add the 3mf file that actually paints each item with a printer.

Dan

There is a 3mf included. The pic above is just a layer color change. That is done in the slicing process on any type of machine.

Dan

Gotcha. I will put the idea on my running list :)

Tami

Hey, I am new here and we LOVE your designs. When you upload all 3 files, is it for different printers? Does it matter which one I download? I have an Ender 3 and so far it works great at printing things! Thanks for all the cool things you make, I can't wait to make this one-I am a Radiology Technologist and love anything skeleton related.

Paige's Purlieu

Just came here to ask about ornament hole options or anything but saw you said prior you will add it to your list thanks!

Brittany and Leigh (husband) Hill

I can answer that for you. With the ender 3 you only need the regular .stl files. The other ones such as MMU, is for multi material units such as a printer that uses more than one color at a time without manually doing a color change. So you can paint the model in something like Prusa slicer or Bambu slicer and use the colors you wish. Bambu is for Bambu, and the Prusa is for Prusa slicers. If you ever get a multi material unit (you can get some that you build and install on your ender) then you would need the 3mf files. Since you have one color at a time printer, the ender 3, you are good to go with only the regular .stl files. I hope this helps! Happy printing!

LO

If the Skeleton series could include these, I think it would be cool: Ancestor Bird, Fierce Mammoth, Sabertooth Tiger, Pterodactyl. My little wish.

Dan

Thank you for answering :)

Dan

Thank you for the awesome suggestions!

Robert Merrell

My students love all your bone prints. They really dig the dinos though! I know they would be happy if you came out with a big dino line. Ive done a couple of your prints maxed out on the Neptune 4 max and they were a big hit!

Tami

Thank you for the help! I am having so much fun printing.

Mishelle Bookout

Welcome, Tami! The Bambu and Prusa .3mf files include printer specific settings. For your Ender, you'll want just the .stl file (Flexi Factory Dapper Skeleton.stl). That should work in any slicer you use.

Cauge Bond

Thank you so much I love these. One request is could you possibly make a hanging hole in these? I get lots of requests to hang them

Dan

Update. I am finalizing the version with the hole and will have it up tomorrow :)

Dan

Finalizing and I will have it up tomorrow ;)

matt orr

These are so good. Everyone at my work loves my skeleton dinosaur collection!

Eric Quine

how many MM long is recommended? How small can this go?

Eric Quine

also what speed should this be printed?

KWMiner

Love it, Thank you!

Crystal Monariti

Has anyone made a stand for there skeleton so hes not laying flat on the desk ?

Dan

Depends on your printer and quality settings.

Dan

I test to 50% but the links are quite small and will become weaker depending on print quality and material. Silks are more fragile. I recommend no smaller than 75% typically.

Dan

Yes! Join the discord. I believe he may share the link there :)

Kyle Breen

Has anyone else had a problem with the Ribs always breaking when printing

Dan

Make sure your PLA is dry. If it has too much moisture it could snap easily. I have had a run of fresh out of the package rolls being very fragile lately. Also, what settings? 15% infill, 3 walls, .16 or .12 layer height?

Kyle Breen

.12 Layer Height, 15% infill, 3 walls. I am currently running filament right out of a sunlu drier.

Dan

Well darn. I'm sorry to hear that.

Annitta Crowley

It won’t let me download it, I tried all last month, and again today with no luck.

Dan

Are you downloading from a desktop, possibly apple computer? Check to see if you have a vpn or some other security disabling. I understand not being able to download as the files are right above in the post.

Annitta Crowley

I’m copying from my Apple phone, I then send it to my computer, except, with this design, it won’t let me copy it , all of the others have copied this way fine , just having trouble . I was wondering, was this a past design, and I didn’t start the patreon with you in time to get it ?

Dan

This is a bonus from last month. So it's still available to you in the bonus folder but was also emailed in the files that I send to my mini Factory each month.

Dan

I wonder if the bambu app needs updating, or something on your phone? The files are the same as always, both 3mf and stl.

Annitta Crowley

Ok I’ll update it and see if it helps, ty
