Croatia - Velebit Mountains (September, week 38) (Patreon)

Good evening everyone!! 🤗

This month we are focusing on Croatia, and this week's theme will be: the Velebit Mountains! 🏔️

Reference images

The references we are drawing this week are different parts of the Velebit Mountains. Velebit is a mountain range in central Croatia, along the Dalmatian coast of the Adriatic Sea.

Mountain top: Tulove Grede

Bay: Uvala Zavratnica

Hillside: Zavižan

Final illustrations week 37

I kept it simple last week with only using brush pens and pencils. I definitely loved drawing the river village the most, because of the little buildings and the flowing water! 😊

I started with the Dubrovnik reference today. It was also the most challenging one, because of all the rooftops and different buildings. I want to finish it later today or maybe another day. But I wanted to show you the work in progress for this image. Here are some tips to approach this reference:

Start with the central building, in my opinion, it was the big church-like building in the middle of the reference.

Try to approach all the different subjects as simple shapes. You can define it later with pencils.

You don't have to put in all the details. Otherwise, you will get overwhelmed easily.

If you want to start, but don't know how and what materials to use. You can visit the first blog post about all my favourite go-to materials. There is also a blog post about my watercolour art supplies: Blog post 2 - My favourite watercolour art supplies
