Good morning everyone!! πŸ€—

For January's tutorial I chose to draw some olives and an olive tree. In this post you can draw along while I illustrate some olives. βœ¨πŸ€—

Here you can watch the tutorial of the olive tree: Video tutorial - Olive Tree

Some tips regarding this reference

Make sure to leave some white space in almost every olive to get that effect of light on the olives.

Play with different amount of pressure when drawing with the pencil, to get more depth.

I added some extra shades to the branches at the end with the dark indigo pencil. Make sure to use this at the end so you can clearly see where the drawing needs some more shading.

Materials ✨

For brush pens, I used 3 different colours:

Tombow 126 (Light olive)

Ecoline 374 (Pink Beige)

Tombow 133 (Chartreuse, Light green)

For coloured pencils, I used:

Faber-Castell 165 (Juniper Green)

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

Reference picture

I was immediately in love with this reference! The composition and colours were completely like I had in mind for this tutorial!

I recommend downloading it on your phone to get a smaller picture, this way you can't get lost in all the details.

I also have to add that the colours of this reference in the video are a bit different than the image below. I don't know why it happened, but I can't change it unfortunately.

For an overlook of all my favourite materials, I recommend reading this blog post: My go-to materials
