THE MONKEY (2025) Movie Review | Maniacal Cinephile

In this review, the Maniacal Cinephile breaks down THE MONKEY (2025), the latest horror comedy from writer-director Osgood Perkins, based on Stephen King’s chilling short story. Starring Theo James, Elijah Wood, and Tatiana Maslany, this film delivers a laugh-out-loud, over-the-top, and completely unhinged take on the classic killer toy trope. Get ready for chaos, carnage, and lots of drumming! Twin brothers Hal and Bill stumble upon a cursed wind-up toy monkey that triggers hilariously absurd and gruesome deaths whenever it plays its tiny drum. What follows is a Final Destination-style rampage of freak accidents, family drama, and ridiculous horror hijinks! Is this the next cult horror hit? Watch our review to find out if The Monkey is worth the hype—or if it belongs at the bottom of that well.
