Cactus Tony

Oh hell yes here we go boys.

If you like sopranos and the wire I highly suggest Oz at some point. The original hbo drama

Martin Hagen

one of my all time favorite shows, it takes you by surprise! hope you'll enjoy it, can't wait to watch it again with u

Young Simba

I have waited a long time for this. Also a recommendation if you are taking any, The Night Of is a short HBO series that includes a lot of guys from the Wire and Sopranos that feels very similar to both

Cody

YOOOOOOO had no clue this was coming. One of the most iconic shows of all time. Looking forward to the journey

Alex Thrailkill

Tremendous W, saw an email notification and I can’t WAIT to get off work now! Fantastic show :)

William Davis

I personally don’t love this show as much as The Wire and Breaking Bad, but it’s still excellent and James Gandolfini gives an amazing performance.

Hannah Fronckowiak

I love, love the Sopranos. I’m so excited for this journey!

Kenneth thomas

Ohhhh sheeeeet. Its on like donkey kong.

Kana Kawase

Man, I miss James Gandolfini. He was such a talent. No one else could have brought Tony to life the way he did. Looking forward to seeing you watch this series. It's been a long time since I've revisited it.

Kana Kawase

Ah, Captain Teebs. How little we knew ye.

You just earned yourself 6 seasons worth of additional subscription from me lmao The Sopranos is my favorite show of all time. There's no show more singularly responsible for the "golden age of television" we were enjoying there for a while. Tony is the most compellingly realized TV character ever written. It's worth noting that the pilot aired about a year before the second episode, which is why there's a bit of a tonal shift (hard to imagine post-pilot Tony running that guy down in a car in broad daylight) and why they use episode 2 as a sort of reintroduction. Chase originally envisioned the whole thing as a movie, and the pilot was written based off that original idea. Edit: I've watched this show straight through, start to finish, at least 13 times and the theme song still gets me hype every time. WOKE UP THIS MAWWWNIN Edit 2: Tony's monologue about coming in on the ground floor, missing the best, coming in at the end, living amidst a collapsing regime — this is pretty much the experience of every American born after 1980. The show had a bit of a renaissance around COVID as younger millennials and gen z kids finally discovered it and found it horrifyingly relatable. NY Times wrote a good article about it: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/29/magazine/sopranos.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Nk8.LivC.KCr44wAWWWpZ&smid=url-share (I made it a gift link so it should clear the paywall)

Hell yes! I was hoping you had the makings of a varsity athlete.

Two of the best shows of all time back to back 😭 I still think The Wire tops this but this show is like right there with it.

Brandon

The guy Tony and Chris beat up has spent decades making a career out of never being treated well in movies and TV. He's like an American Sean Bean. He was just in Daredevil and an extremely unfriendly thing happened to him. 😆

Fun fact: The moment in ep 2 where Tony almost collapses in his mom's living room is the one and only use of production/archival music in the whole show. Every other piece of music they use is licensed.

Anthony Khayat

Paulie said "va fa Napoli" which literally means "Go to Naples". It's a more polite version of "Vaffancul" which means "go fuck yourself." They use both in the show.

Henrik

Finally!!!

Anthony Khayat

Fun fact. Episode 2 is the only episode in the entire show that has a cold open. The rest start with the intro. Unfortunately the intro doesn't change like the Wire's. David Chase originally wanted the show to start with a different song every time but HBO wanted a consistent theme song, but agreed that he could end the show on a different song.

Joe Lazarus

If you haven't noticed there are some familiar faces from other mob films like Godfather 2,2 Goodfellas...expect to see more of them.

Indica Ink

I just started rewatching Wilfred because of you, and now The Sopranos? Damn man, you're killing my freetime 😭

Michael Proch

I’m gonna shout out Mr. Inbetween on Hulu. Just to get that name on your radar at least

Leia Camilla

Worth mentioning that, if I recall correctly, they spoil parts of Casino early on in this season, I believe episode 10 of this season, and the ending of Citizen Kane later on around season 5 episode 2 (same for, I think, the first 2 Godfather films and Goodfellas at various points, for those who haven't seen those films), assuming you haven't already seen Casino or Citizen Kane.

Matt

Oh shit, here we GO!

Jesse Trovato

Acting wise and influence, best show ever made. It starts to get a little long winded and honestly should have ended at season 4 but it is truly on the Mount Rushmore of TV. Therapy wise I think they hired Doctorate level PsyDs to write the dialogue. It gives me imposter syndrome because she is probably the greatest representation of what therapy is. The way she knows what is going on but gently guides him to self discovery and epiphanies instead of just telling him what is going on with him. I was going to take a break from the Patreon after Wire but “just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in”

The reaction channel LM Reactions just finshed watching The Sopranos last week. And i was pretty bummed out. I love having this show in my life on a regular basis. You're a real one for bringing it to the channel. Cant wait for all the great commentary and discussion that come with a show like this.

Tim Martin

I was here for Breaking Bad and BCS…now, just when I thought I was out…James pulls me back in!!
