Walt

🙏🏽thank you James

Matt

Just finished your Mr Robot reactions just in time for Better Call Saul, thank you James 😊

Nate

Those photos of howard were taken from Patrick Fabian's instagram.

Kaitlin

Thanks for looking after your editor! 😊 Vacation’s important! We spent years wondering when we were going to meet Saul and then when we did we all cried “put it back, take it back, we don’t want it.” I’ve also got to say this is Gus’s best scene in the whole series. I didn’t understand what they were doing at first, but when it hit me, it was right in the guts. This is a heavy episode.

Tim Martin

That scene with Mike and Nacho’s Father gets me every time…and I’ve watched it at least 100 times. 😩😭

I'm not sure if you realized just how diabolical Kim was when she had that conversation with Howard's wife. If you remember, one of the last things Howard said before he was killed, was that his marriage was in the crapper and he'd been living in the guest house for a year. He hadn't told anyone about that before then. So when Kim interrupted and said "about a year and a half ago".. she saw him snorting something. And then she said "Cheryl, you're his wife. You saw him every day. If anyone should've seen signs, it would've been you". She was pretending to assume Howard and his wife were happily married and spent a lot of time together because no one else knew Howard was living in the guest house except Kim and Jimmy... so by saying that, Kim shifted the blame to Cheryl, for not noticing Howard's drug problem that Kim and Jimmy made up. That's f'ed up :)

Simson Ward

The title of episode 9 could very well be called "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes." You would think with a title like "Fun and Games" we would get something out of Wheel of Fortune. But no. it's the most depressing title of all BCS eps lol.

Tim Martin

You may know this by now, but the guy that recognized Saul in the mall is “Jeffie”. They had to re-cast the actor for whatever reason between the time they shot the “flash forward” and the time they shot S6E10. Buddy is the same actor , though. He was tagging along with Jeff at the mall in the “flash forward”. Then Gene phones the vacuum guy to report that he’s been recognized, arranges to be picked up, but changes his mind - “I’m gonna take care of this myself”. That’s basically episode 10…Gene taking care of it himself. Oh, Jeff and Buddy aren’t brothers, just friends.

Jerry C

That recast of "Jeff" had me confused too at first. Also, i'm a bit disappointed you didn't recognize one of the greatest TV legends of all time playing "Marion"

hbk314

I did catch that part the first time through, and, yes, it struck me as sort of sticking the knife in and twisting it. One thing that came up discussing it after is that it may have ultimately protected Cheryl, though there's no way to know Kim's full intent. If Cheryl keeps digging, what steps could be taken to protect Gus? Would Cheryl be in danger if she didn't let it go?

Owen Young

There’s also 3 more episodes man :) glad you liked these. They did recast Jeff. So it can be confusing. But these last three episodes will DELIVER like nothing you’ve ever seen man.

I love the wine bar scene. Gus wears many faces but here we see his true self, motivated by nothing more than his own happiness. But the path of revenge that Gus is on has no room for trivial things such as love and joy. It's as if he allows himself these small tastes of a real life, just like the wine he samples.

redhawk

I liked the original actor who played Jeff, Don Harvey. Unfortunately, he was recast due to scheduling conflicts. His version of the character was intimidating and creepy, while Pat Healy’s version is pathetic. I think the writers rewrote the character to fit Healy because his face and body are not imposing.

Valerie Welsh

Kim projecting the burden of guilt and self-loathing onto Cheryl shocked me on first watch. It was such a cruel, haunting thought to leave her with. Rhea Seehorn talks about it in an interesting interview with The Hollywood Reporter (07/18/2022) when she was nominated for an Emmy for this season. She also goes into the production adjustments and responses from cast and crew to Bob Odenkirk's heart attack while filming S608 and filming S609 while he was in recovery.

Matt

The actress that plays Marion is the great Carol Burnett she's an absolute legend in comedy and funny enough in season 2 episodes 5 Chuck and his wife Rebecca actually mentioned Carol Burnett

Kara

There's sooo much I could say so I'll focus on 1 thing. The Gus Wine Bar scene in ep9 is one of the most important in the show for me. As a queer person I always see Gus as a deeply closeted gay man whose partner was shot dead in front of him and he spent the rest of his life planning (and successfully executing) an elaborate revenge plot. But in the wine bar, just for a moment, Gus allows himself to imagine what life would be like if he weren't obsessed with revenge. A tragedy of the Breaking Bad universe is that characters are given the choice to walk away and yet always choose the 'bad road'. Gus has earned enough money to retire, he could buy a vineyard in Europe and die happy; but revenge doesn't leave any room for that. Walter could have quit, Jimmy could have stuck with Elder Law, Jesse could have not got back in the game, Kim could have kept driving to that nonprofit meeting. A central theme of the show is that characters choose to stay in the game when they have clear ways out. And the Gus wine bar scene is a phenomenal way of showing us how even someone like Gus could be happy if they let themselves, and then we see it on his face: he knows there's no room in his revenge-fuelled life for a cute sommelier boyfriend. Gus lets himself have a taste of happiness as a treat for 'winning', then goes back to his sad life of revenge. It's a phenomenal show and an incredible set of episodes. IMO the show could have ended on Ep10, but it somehow keeps going for 3 episodes. Looking forward to re-experiencing it with your commentary 🙏

Auranymph

It's a reference to the phrase "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt."

Simson Ward

How poetic. He almost reverts back to Slippin Jimmy when his accomplice "slips." But it's Saul Goodman.

sayhello2heaven

Episode 9 is pretty much the finale of better call saul, while the next 4 serve more as an epilogue to the entire universe if that makes sense. Besides that man thank you for all the hard work even though we're not finished it's still been a hell of a ride!

chase

Just let him watch the show and figure that out on his own. Why the hell do you idiots always have to be spoiling?

Indica Ink

The reaction to episode 10,Nippy was so great when it came out

DannyGarrison

You’re lucky that he has already finished episode 10 but don’t share more on what’s to come?? Cmon dude

Tim Martin

Kim was having…”too much FUN!!”

Lars Bryan

one of the less talked about things in fun and games: Jimmy says "I love you" to try and get her to stay. And she says it back. But this is the first time in the ENTIRE series that they've said that to each other on screen.

Kaitlin

All I can imagine is that Max must have been to him what Kim means to Jimmy.

Kara

That's a really nice thought. Maybe we'll get the Gus prequel show one day.

Linda

Where to begin... Recasting the sinister cab driver with that ineffectual dweeb was ridiculous. They should have hired Mark Pellegrino instead; he's got the same vibe. Better yet, they should have just left the cabbie subplot and moved on instead of wasting precious time with that stupid, overwrought, department store caper. Not even stunt casting Carol Burnett could make it palatable. It was insulting. 😡

Kaitlin

I need it to be wall to wall Wong Kar Wai romance and style. Like Happy Together but with a good relationship.

Kaitlin

Also I figured Max must be that important because if Jimmy was in his shoes, we’d never forgive him if he gave up avenging Kim for something.
