Oh man, this is getting me thinking about how difficult it would be to maintain safety standards/procedures in such a VAST setting, especially in co-species workplaces. There would need to be some major collaboration and communication between different sophont authorities. Everyone would have different needs and not to mention their own ideas of how things should be done. Now I want to see Tiiliitian OSHA.

So, is Gillie's angle on leaving mostly boredom, or does she have other motives for wanting to be out of here? Also, I guess the plot thickens regarding why the Runaway is in the state it is in: what other bureaucratic bits were missed or even, perhaps, deliberately omitted? And, to be kinda morbid . . . it really doesn't seem like there was any cleanup on the Runaway post-impact, was there. How often do spacecraft recycling workers have to deal with funeral arrangements for the crew of a destroyed ship?

Are personal spaceships a thing? Also if they have advanced biotechnology do they have bioships or other organic technology? Also considering the size of servers would a culture of neurons or another kind of biological computer be able to the same job with way less needed space? Also was gene editing ever used to augment people?
