Philippines worth it? MacArthur's Gamble?

Was the invasion of the Philippines in 1944 worth it? Was it just for MacArthur's ego and ambitions? What were the alternatives? What is valid criticism and what is not? What did Admiral Nimitz and Admiral King think? Original question by my Oberst Jack: "How useful was the US return to the Philippines in 1944? good and bad points." I think I can post again now. ETA: Hey, thanks for doing this vid. Usually most authors stick to a 'MacArthur man bad!' 'His muh-legacy!' and 'America messed up!' theory/fundamental belief system.
