Were the Japanese just lucky?

Recently someone noted about the Japanese and then the Germans that they were just lucky about their early successes, well, this for me is just another oversimplification that is just wrong. We looked at the German side already. So in this video Justin Pyke (MA) and I address this whole issue in a little more detail with some very specific examples for the US Side as well. Definitions of Luck: “Success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions.” “Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity." Excellent comment about the US Navy as a learning organization by Justin. I wish he had commented on whether cultural issues created the "Japanese are lucky" narrative.

I always like when Justin is your guest. He brings concise and informed commentary.

thank you, the "Japanese were lucky" was basically an "unqualified" facebook post by someone who watched the Savo Island video, which also added the Germans as well. I think it is displayed or red out in full on the Germans just lucky video. So, nope, from what I know there is "tradition" or regular occurrence of it.
