Armored Cars in the Spanish Civil War

In this video Gareth Lynn Montes from Tank Encyclopedia and I talk about Armored Cars in the Spanish Civil War. Particularly how they were used, the origin of Spanish Armored Cars. Their use in French and German service. Additionally, we also talk about the use of Soviet Armored Cars in the Spanish Civil War as well. Indeed brilliant video! I knew little about these vehicles, despite being born in Spain. The civil war was a bit of a sensitive topic for me, as both sides of my family were massively traumatised by it. I guess as many others. I guess an important point on these vehicles is also the "doctrine" or if you wish, the lack of it. While in the early century Spain there was a lot of interest in automobiles and aeroplanes, the emerging technologies, the industrial base was still far off and it never got anywhere due to lack of institutional support and the conflicts. Many industrialists were affected by the war one way or another. So indeed there was interest and "will" but not enough of a solid basis. Perhaps as a comparison to Germany, there was no state sponsored racing or similar programmes to get the thing going. On the military side, both sides were very heavy reliant on infantry and a lot of not well trained infantry. Thus combined arms operations were just not possible and large coordinated operations just failed routinely. For a large part of the war operations were conducted in the old fashion "column" style or "kampfgruppe" a hastily ensemble of what is available there and can be logistically sustained, often with an immediate target. My understanding is that these vehicles were used in that context and for that were probably easier to use than proper armoured (tracked) vehicles. A pure direct infantry support role. I have been reading up lately on the war, I'd you are interested I will take a look to whether anything of what I have is translated into English or German

thank you! yeah, I can only imagine, many years ago I read a German article about the Civil War or better how it still affects the people, it was rather grizzly.
