The match went south solely because of Vince. He can’t move. He can’t bump. He has no coordination. HE’S IN HIS 60’S!! Fuck this man booking this shit and trying to soil Bret’s legacy. Bret vs Shawn would’ve been amazing even in 2010. So would have Bret vs any other active wrestler. Vince and his stupid ego. So glad he is gone.

The fact that Vince McMahon took what should have been a simple bit of kayfabe revenge and turned it into "The Passion of the Vince" is not shocking nor surprising. That he'd do it to spite the fans isn't either. What's shocking is that he didn't try to "accidentally" make Bret take a bump just for his own kicks.

I think part of why Bret wrestled properly at house shows around this time but seems incapable of doing anything in this match is to do with insurance companies. Bret had an insurance policy that paid out when he was injured and forced to retire, and I think there was a concern that if he was seen actively wrestling here it could have caused problems and nullified that insurance payout. But at the house shows where the cameras aren't rolling, they'll never know about it.

Tempest nailed it! This is Cena vs Laurenitis! It is supposed to make people feel bad for Laurenitis like this match is supposed to make people feel bad for Vince. It doesn't because we know what Vince is like so people aren't going to feel sorry for him but I wish there were not so many members of the Hart family there getting involved .
