The Nexus actually brought me back to WWE. I was 12 at the time and had taken a bit of a break from watching after Mania. I was still a fan but I just wasn't watching weekly anymore or even getting the PPV's. But then my brother mentioned this angle and I knew I had to comeback and watch it. It was the first time I got into a heel act (probably helped by Barrett being English) and this angle was what made me into a Cena hater.

Great research on the beatdown angle. The only story I wish you guys had brought up, was the Punk eye story. On the infamous Colt Cabana interview he said that he specifically asked the Nexus not to go for his eyes because he'd recently had laser eye surgery. And then one guy gauged his eyes. And you can see in the footage that one guy is Bryan!

I heard a big part of why Danielson wasn't really fired after the Nexus debut was Shawn Michaels. He was so mad because he thought the firing was legit and he had a lot of influence with Vince and WWE. Thank you guys for another great recap!

I sometimes forget how awful WWE weekly tv was during this time until I hear reviews of the shows. 2010 was still high fandom for me growing up till 2012 when I gave up for a year. But this angle is one of the things that kept that fandom alive for a while! I was a big Nexus mark at the time
