Not going to lie this ppv is one of my favourite ppv’s of 2001 From Angle wrestling 3 matches (including the street fight with Shane) the DDP/Undertaker brawl to having Austin vs Jericho vs Benoit for the WWF Championship with the Booker T run in this ppv does a lot for me as a fan and I love that

Would this angle have worked better if they started it like the nexus start and had a number of WCW guys destroy the main event a la nexus on raw and destroy everyone and Heyman runs off through the crowd setting up down the line that he knew it was happening because he's part of the alliance to give WCW a hot start and booker t has the wade Barrett leader role as WCW champion and then at the end Shane comes out and stands tall in the ring with his superstars (I know Shane was f'd up from his match but in my fantasy world he doesn't get ruined by Kurt)

This is the first time I've ever successfully guessed what the top movie and song were at the time before they were revealed \o/ I remember watching the movie with my brother and cousin several times and pissing ourselves laughing

This was the angle that got me hooked. I had been a casual fan, renting tapes in the late 90s. But when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, my brother and I found our escape in wrestling and never looked back. I wasnt able to order these ppvs until Survivor Series, but I remember how KotR was covered on TV. The Shane/Angle match achieved mythic status. I don't know if I'm somehow remembering things wrong, but I recall the reasoning given to the finish of the triple threat being that Benoit broke his neck on the move (placing the real injury he had prior to that moment in kayfabe). But it definitely doesn't come across that way

It's funny yall talk about finishers being over I quit watching wrestling a year or so after this i thank. Until AEW an for the first year and a half maybe two while I was loving what I was seeing my only critique was no one's finisher was over except for like 3 or 4 wrestlers and while listening to this I realized after all those years with little wrestling wwe still had me programmed

This might be a bit premature & better suited for the next episode, but I 100% think angle should’ve been the one to turn heel at invasion. He could’ve done a respect thing with Shane after their match at KOTR, the Austin face turn (which is awesome) would not have been wasted. Still could’ve done angle vs Austin through the summer just flip reversed. Also the random angle & Austin turns with no explanation after survivor series other than “angle is a bad guy now so boo & Austin is good again so cheer” wouldn’t be needed.

The conversation at 1:20ish is so interesting. To hear that Raw almost became “WCW Raw”, and then look at the 2002 Draft rosters. Raw got NWO RVD (who’s been mentioned a couple of times as heading up WCW’s launch show) and Booker T, GM’d by Ric Flair. And then Smackdown really only got Hogan as far as big time Invasion additions go. Kidman, Chuck, Torrie/Stacy filled out some, but basically all of the big players acquired went to Raw
