Hey Slacky, RE the Muay Thai sweep changes. The golden era did ban certain foot sweeps which led to more active clinch work. Around the 2000s the rules changed and you get more leniency with sweeps, Saenchai made a whole career out of it. It did lead to a similar problem we see in MMA today, where fighters just hold dominant positions instead of attacking. So more static clinch work. I think Kevin Von Duuglas-Ittu (Sylvie’s husband) has written about it, but the foot sweep changes were originally to differentiate Muay Thai from Judo. More a nationalistic thing.
