Be glad you don't have to wait for Season 3. The anticipation for that is what got me to read the manga.

yeah that's Yuta from the movie 😭 Yuta caused what looked like a NUKE going off when fighting Geto, how is Yuji supposed to stand a chance against that

So, to elaborate on Kamo's plan a bit, in case it was unclear. (The stitches on his head when Chozo remembers him imply that Noritoshi Kamo was not his first identity, so he could be much older than the 150 the characters were speculating.) He wanted to push humanity forward in whatever way he could and didn't care about ethics. One of his first attempt was the Death Paintings, the Blood Brothers. He decided those were a failure so he began a very long term plan, this plan. Kamo for centuries has been finding and making pacts with sorcerers and curses. The essence of those pacts appears to be that the curses would come back when he did his plan, and the sorcerers would turn into cursed artifacts (like Sukuna's fingers). His plan, as he explains here, is to create a massive conflict to push sorcery to the next level. That's what he means by "Another Heian", Heian was the period when Sukuna lived, and it seems that sorcerers and curses back then were almost all demigod level. So now that he has Mahito's ability; Idle Transfiguration, he can manipulate souls. In anticipation of this he went around Japan marking many people with his Cursed Energy. The strain of this put those people in comas. With the people he marked he either just unlocked their ability to use Cursed Energy, or fed them an artifact from one of the sorcerers he made a pact with. We don't know which Tsumiki (Megumi's sister) was, but we saw she was marked, so she's one or the other. So in the next season we'll be seeing ancient curses and sorcerers.

Mahito really was the Doflamingo of JJK Neither have a complex motive, but is carried by his personality to being a fan favorite villain. Both are formidable, but also just heralds for their respective greater threats, Kamo, and Kaido. Both balance being entertaining and vile well enough to be lovingly hate-able.

Its time for the JJK movie, then you start with season 3
