Above is a sketch from the book I'm working on. I'm trying to distill all the things that frighten me into a single, wet, vaporous form called The Fear.

Last week one of my closest friends was approached by two men. They beat the hell out of him for wearing the wrong outfit. For looking gay. 

It was a hate crime. Tomorrow he undergoes surgery to reconstruct portions of his face. I'm  assisting as best I can. It's a lot.

It's a fascinating thing to design a monster, knowing full well the monsters in real life are everyday folk making terrible mistakes.

All this while I undergoing intense trauma-focused therapy.

It took me four hours to complete the session 8 homework.

Fucking. Hell.
