Hi there. Some - if not most you - probably know that Alex and I have been dealing with the loss of our beloved cat Parsley. I've been

using my Tumblr

to chronicle the experience. The months of May and June were really hard - which is why I haven't been doing a lot of art (at least no art I can contractually reveal)...

...but that's changing!

THING ONE:

I'm already two pages into my next mini 9 page comic "Tough Self Love." I can't talk about it too much but it's going to be a good one. The comic basically addresses the question:

"How can I practice self-love? if I have a shameful history of bad behavior?"

My goal this weekend is to plug away at it and relax. Hopefully the whole kit and caboodle will be finished before next weekend.

After that I'm debating on two comics in my lineup. One on queer pride titled "My Queerness", and the other being a follow up to It's Not a Race called "There's More Than One!"  I'm leaning toward the latter because by the time I'm done with either comic - most likely all Gay Pride events will be over and the internet will have moved on to the next American horror (versus remembering Orlando)

 Whereas if I start "There's More Than One!" sooner it might mean that I can publish it on the anniversary of "It's Not a Race" which would be swell. Still debating. Going to do both though ^__^

I came  close to nailing a comic about White Privilege but after  re-reading it I still feel it's not the exact - surgical strike - that I want. So it'll need to be re-written. 

THING TWO: 

Totally going to try my hand at erotic art. I've been struggling with this decision for a while now because I've been programmed to think "Erotic Art = Pornography."

I have

ZERO

interest in drawing porn.

When I was 16? Totally.

At 28? ZERO interest.

But now I know better. Erotic Art ≠ Pornography. And I'm comfortable trying my hand at it because I feel inspired to dismantle the patriarchy.

I'm a huge fan of "Fantasy Art" but so often it's just an obnoxious means of painting a "helpless" half naked damsel in the arms of some hunky male power fantasy dude...

...OR it's a helpless COMPLETELY naked damsel being thrust into groping hands of some monster (human or otherwise!)

And of  course it's the same woman every time. 120 pounds. Long hair. Big boobies. You know what I'm talking about.

I want to flip that on its head. I want "Dansels." I want Half naked men helplessly clinging to the legs of their ferocious warrior woman rescuers.  I want body diversity. I want racial diversity (sans racism).

I SHALL MAKE A CALENDAR.
