Looks like the last time I posted anything about Emily comic was back in February. Since then I have stopped creating the strip for the local paper - The Empty Closet.

Given my commitment (and more rigorous deadlines) to Everyday Feminism  I said could only continue to provide the strip if I was paid more. They never got back to me, so  that was that.

...and yeah I totally could've put up a fight, and pestered them until I got back a solid "yes" or "no." But is that really worth my time? Should I even have to do that? NO.

Most creators/artists struggle with devaluing themselves and their work - but you can help yourself tremendously by only working with those who respect/value you. You don't have to burn bridges - just simply cultivate  a zero tolerance rule for disrespect. Here's a good line:

"I'm afraid I will be unable to continue working with you at this time. Thank you!"

That's not what I was going to write about that haha ^_^;

What I was going to say was I'm feel a serious pull toward making Emily in Space a real bonafide webcomic but I think I want to redesign her. Emily's evolution went along these lines:

Cisgender Lesbian - -> Cisgender  Bisexual - -> Transgender Bisexual Woman - -> Transgender Pansexual Woman

I'm thinking of making Emily a "Transfeminine, Genderqueer." Let me unpack that for ya:

Trans - Emily will openly identify as Transgender

Transfeminine - Emily will lean towards the feminine spectrum, but not identify completely as a woman.

Genderqueer -Emily will identify with neither, both, or a combination of male and female genders. Most likely preferring they/them pronouns.

This means I have the wonderfully fun task of going back to the drawing board. Yum!
