First off thank you. Over the past 5 months I've been going through a lot of emotional hurdles and as such have been neglecting not just my Patreon but my work in general. I appreciate those who reached out to me during this time, your words of comfort helped me. Some big changes are in store so let me break them down:

1) Queer AF: This is the Big Project for 2017. Queer AF is going to be a book/collection of all my comics on queer/trans issues. It'll include a bar code and ISBN number so it can be sold to stores and libraries, it will also include an exclusive comic only to be released to the public once the book is printed (spoiler alert: it's not "There's More Than One" and YES you'll get to read it as it's made!)

I'll be hiring Liz Enright to do the page layouts and editing, as that process is beyond tedious and would take me 3x longer than necessary. The initial goal of the kickstarter will be to break even, but if things go well the secondary goal will be to produce enough books to take it to conventions. Speaking of...

Liz will only really be able to focus on all this after her graduation in August. Initially the book was meant for Queers and Comics but after it was made clear that I couldn't afford that production (and that Prism Comics would've taken the lion's share of sales) I put on the breaks. What was to be a 32 page book I aim to turn into a 60+ pager. It'll be a softcover book, full color.

2) Conventions: I can't say that I'll be going to any conventions this year but that is my next goal. If Queers and Comics taught me one thing, it's that I'm ready for Cons.

Quite frankly that whole fiasco was a trial by fire. And while I haven't emerged unscorched? I lived to tell the tale.

3) Patreon: It hasn't even been a month since I rebranded and relaunched my Patreon but I did learn a thing or two about crowdsourcing at the conference, and I hope to apply what I learned here. The rewards will change to reflect that.

Soon you'll be seeing comics/art doodles that are entirely exclusive to you. These will be photos of my notebook from the office where I work. I doodle a lot during the day. A lot. And while I'm at it I can definitely compose simple "diary" comics that illustrate where I'm at, my process. etc.

OH AND ONE MORE THING

4) System Shock 2: So um there's this game I've been wanting to play for eight solid years. Not even a new game, an older one. And the plan 8 years ago was to eventually buy a (gag) PC just to play it. Imagine my joy to learn it was available for Macintosh via gog.com - but then imagine my horror to realize my computer couldn't handle it due to the operating system.

Except now I have a new computer, and so yeah. I immediately purchased the game and started playing last night.

It's already proving to be everything I thought it might be. The ambiance is masterfully controlled. They put a lot of work into this game's look and feel. In particular the sound design. Genuinely creepy stuff.

My one hesitation (which I expect to get over) is the game is far more complex than your average FPS. This is the love child of Warren Spector and as such there are plenty of RPG elements. But the manner in which it's implemented is rather antiquated. Just a lot of layers. Very technical. It's been confusing. I'll get there.
