Hi everyone,

These will be the last placeholders.

I need to figure out why I keep struggling with writer's block, and what's causing my productivity to nosedive.

I'll wrap up chapter 181 this weekend, and try to keep you informed of my progress next month.

Best wishes,

Tefler

Believe it when I see it, but I wish you the best of luck and hope you can find your way back to the productivity you had a few years ago.

You promised last month that you would not do anymore placeholders unless you gave us 2 chapters. So another lie. I think it's time for you to apply for dole money as you are not working.

But I believe the quote was " If I'm unable to produce two chapters in July, I will never submit another placeholder again. I'll revert to writing part-time until I can catch up to all the chapters I owe you. " And this is *checks notes* not even one chapter. Honestly I had no belief that you'd keep your word. I just didn't want to be a source of discouragement in your quest to give these loyal fans of yours what they deserve. People don't care that you're dishonest. All they want is their space harem smut textasy, and you're drip tubing it while making guiltposts and empty promises.

Hope you do manage to get that pesky productivity under control soon, .... stay safe and well, .... ;-) ttfn

Come on dude, it’s time to put up or shut up.

You have no incentive to be productive, you can just post these sob stories/excuses every month, click submit and you get paid for nothing. You have found your golden ticket. Until enough people take their money away, you will continue to do this. You are a joke at this point.

Dan Abnett (admittedly a prolific author) Starts a new chapter after lunch, and finishes it the next morning. to keep the "flow" going. He also rotates what he is writing, to keep fresh. As in, he works on multiple stories at the same time. Jumping from one to the other as inspiration hits him.

My only really disappointment in cancelling is that I never got to see him say his dog ate the chapter he was working on as an excuse

Agree … I pay $1/month, limit once a month. If everyone did this the gravy train would dry up some and possibly incentivize him. And the $12/year it cost is worth the creative litany of excuses he comes up with …

At least he finally admitted the writers block. That's a first if I recall correctly. There has been a lot of advise about such a thing. Reducing preasure would be a first step. Change from per chapter to a monthly payment method. No more placeholders necessary anymore and he can work at the backlog that way.

Unfortunately for Tef, he can't change from per chapter to monthly payment UNTIL he makes good on the 35 chapters he's now pre-charged us for. Changing to monthly payment now would effectively steal all that money (about $200,000 so far). Tefler is either a straight-up criminal or he's a deeply troubled human being who needs professional help. I suspect the latter and I hope he gets counseling before his life falls completely apart.

So are we going to see chapter 181 this month as the weekend has now finished or tef is going to release it next month???

If you're dealing with writer's block, I would recommend talking with somebody as a sounding board. They can give you ideas that you might just end up rejecting or liking, and then moving forward becomes that little bit easier. Maybe one of the discord mods. I personally wouldn't mind being that sounding board. Maybe your wife.

I’m really hoping to see the rest of 181 before the end of the month…

I remember one of my high school lit teachers joking that because of the serialized way that Dickens' stories were published, it's probably fair to say that he was paid by the word, and it shows. I feel like many patreon authors fall into this as well. TSM isn't nearly as bad about it as some stories I've followed in the past, but it is starting to feel like you've got so many little things up in the air that it's gotten almost impossible to make any headway on the real plot, and I wonder if that is part of the problem you've been having with writer's block. (I'm not a writer, but I do feel like I run into similar issues in my own work staying productive if I have too many things going on at once.) First of all, I think you need to start letting things happen 'off screen'. I know this story is magic blow jobs in space, but maybe we don't need a detailed account of every battle prep. And while I assume they're going to continue having their after battle briefings, maybe we don't need to sit in on all of them. Lynette could give Alyssa the Cliff Note versions of the High Command meetings that John isn't present for. We've had quite a few chapters now since Lord Gally was defeated, but very little has really happened since then. Yes, there were a lot of important conversations and logistical details that the crew needed to deal with in the aftermath of the battle, but to us as the audience a lot of it felt tedious and repetitive, especially where things that we already witnessed from one characters perspective in a previous chapter get explained to another character. Start focusing your attention on what will actually move the plot forward, and when you have conversations or interactions that don't do that, you can acknowledge that they happened without scripting it out word for word. Because I'm much more invested in how Jehanna is going to talk to her parents or how Tom is going to meet Dana than I am in hearing John have yet another discussion about the moral implications of rewriting a thrall's personality or the list of obvious mistakes that he made in their last battle.

Well wrapping it up this weekend seems to have gone

Tefler, I think framing your trouble as "writers block" is doing yourself a disservice. Three things are happening: 1) you are leaning hard into the story, and quality is improving. 2) you are not writing thousands of words an episode with sex. 3) Serial Fiction gets steadily more difficult. I think you need to be honest with yourself as well as everyone else, and find a way to rebalance effort and price. Smaller chapters would be my suggestion.

DevilDoc82

Based on history, we'll see it 1 Sept with 2 more place holders

... Or, ... our Tef might not be writing very much because he is out Job hunting and doing interviews, ... if he has got to feed his family without Placeholders, ... ;-) ttfn

08/31/26, ... no placeholders, .... you think Tef is looking for work? ... ;-) ttfn

I'm not going to speculate on what he's doing. Quite frankly he could be doing the same exact thing he was doing last month and the month before. At the very minimum he's not overpromising and underdelivering his fans.
