Hey everyone,

This is the second and final placeholder.

I'm sorry that the backlog has become so huge. I'll do my best to find a way to get back on track as quickly as possible.

Best wishes,

Tefler

Already proven a liar yet again!

DemonHunterCole

You promised last month that there would be no more place holders moving forward if you didn’t post 2 chapters in July, which you didn’t.

Alan Miller

Absolute idiot, broken promises yet again. Done with you and your lying

Neil Shepherd

Sorry to see such a headline promise broken. If the rest of chapter 181 doesn’t appear as promised then I will finally and reluctantly call it a day.

2026-09-07 11:00 Why don’t you just realize the history? Tesla charges three dollars for chapter with the promise that he would deliver an entire chapter for release. Unfortunately, that brain three dollars to nine dollars the truth is that Taylor just needs to sell his chapters at five dollars and cut the full chapter in half so everyone’s happy or pretending like he’s giving us $20-$25,000 for one dollar free to us because honestly he’s giving that 20,000 word chapter but somehow only us for whatever comes out. The Tepler recognizes he got a great charge five dollars or more. Keep the story chapter could be hundred thousand dollars and then actually keep going properly instead of pissing everyone off he make enough money to get his team their private and the outlets, the digital books and everything he has in front of him. I really don’t care if somebody like you or someone out at this point figure out a way to make it happen.
2026-08-01 09:14 Tefler should just charge more and actually deliver chapters. He’s been charging between $3-$9/chapter. There’s no way to makeup the backlog of 35 chapters at this point. Time to change strategies at this point.

"If I'm unable to produce two chapters in July, I will never submit another placeholder again. I'll revert to writing part-time until I can catch up to all the chapters I owe you." Hahahahaha.......

Forbsey

Im unsubscribing, I will not abide more excuses. I'll be reading All Is Fair from The Novalist. Frankly a more consistant writer and gripping story

Austin Mills

SP Rupert

This account is a fraud and a scam. Writers block is one thing, but endless multiple placeholders DESPITE PROMISING TO NEVER HAVE A PLACEHOLDER AGAIN is a breach of trust. This account has found a loophole to charge for no product provided. Patreon does not care since they profit off the transaction fees. To all other fans of this work, I highly recommend that you do not continue to provide this account with your money. You are actually enabling the story to never be completed, which is the opposite of the result you want.

Who Me

And they wonder why I have limited my contribution to $1 per month? Don't care how many "placeholders" there are!!! Sorry! From what was your biggest fan!

arbi

I'm finally out. Should have quit years ago. I can't stand the lies and at this point I don't even care what happens with the story.

Michael Pritchett

I can understand having family issues and with health problems. That in itself can cause writers block however, charging me multiple times in the span of a day or so to let me know that you are having writing issues seems excessive and problematic I have been a faithful patron and I want to continue to be but maybe going forward instead of placeholders provide pictures of the characters or maybe give a stats readout on the characters so that some of us could attempt to draw them out this in itself would take the sting out of getting a placeholder over and over again within days

Ken Cavin

Disappointing. I had really bonded with Rachel. You have the opportunity to expand this story for years! I have already gone to $1 a month. I had used this story as an example to friends who saw themselves as amateur writers.

Ben

Fully agree. Their work is outstanding and consistent

Ben

If anyone believes this is the last placeholder I have a bridge to sell you

Big Dude

Tefler, this is so sad. I was pulling for you to make it so. Sadly, you failed to make it so.

Ninja90

Hey Tefler, No worries bud - it can be really difficult to keep going when the initial rush and excitement wear off. I know you will still care about the story, but there is obviously a difficulty to keep the passion the same after so many years. Only two comments of feedback if your willing to hear them. 1.) There will be other wtiters that have also struggled, reach out to them for advice, i am sure they will have good insight that might be helpful. 2.) is it possible for you to add a subscription Tier that is exlusively Patreon - by that i mean $5 a month, every month instead of per chapter. Would allow you to get the financial support you need to keep going without putting through placeholder chapters, giving you the best of both. There are many people who do the chapter approach thinking they are paying for a product - which they are not. Patreon is a choice, $1 per chapter is incredibly cheap and there really shouldnt be so much noise over it. Thanks for what you do - hope you find a solution. Really rooting for you. Your work has given me so much joy over the years, Thank You!

Big Dude

Tefler, if you had writer's block this past month, why not appear and tell us about it? Instead you were incommunicado the whole month, that means radio silent M56S, and then you delivered your favorite end-of-month pablum. Your promises are useless and worthless. Excuses are worthwhile when one occasionally slips. Credibility is truly lacking. No amount of spinning clears your July 1st promise. You disappear for 30 or 31 days and expect a Ten-Hut response from your loyal followers. It has become a monthly fee of sadness.

Pat White

Only way we get our money back is to file a lawsuit. He is stealing from us all

SP Rupert

As long as it’s a Rainbow bridge, I’ll consider it.

Michael56Smith

Hello again Rhune, ... Our beloved Author of this hit Epic Space Opera, TSM is definitely having his writing problems, ... And here you are calling him names, ... bad Rhune, bad, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

Who Me is fairly likely to have a T shirt that reads, "I WAS your biggest fan", .... sad really, .... ;-) ttfn

Who Me

I absolutely LOVE SciFi - And especially erotic SciFi which is why I fell in love with TSM a "few" years ago!

Rhune

Is it a actually calling him names if it is the truth? I don't think so, it's just stating a fact.

Michael56Smith

Yeah, I can relate, ... Tef did come out of the gate pretty strong, ... ;-) ttfn

Rhune

It's not writing problems that are the problem. He's an excellent writer and I understand writers block and wanting your work to be "perfect". It's his character that's the promise. My Dad told me there are two things in life to not mess up. Your name and your word. Don't do anything to soil your name and don't give your word unless you can keep it (don't break it unless there's an incredibly compelling reason to eg. a true emergency.) I'll admit he's had some emergencies but then don't keep giving your word on things you can't possibly deliver. His history is full of this. By breaking his word he's soiled his name thus messing up the two things in life you should try your damnedest not to!

Rhune

* problem not promise.

Big Dude

Did I miss Chapter 181 part 2 M56S? Just checking...

MVFast

Sadly, no, it doesn’t look like you missed it.

Vizth Hal

Is there another word for when you're aware you're caught in the sunk cost fallacy but you're still going ahead with it? Because that's where I'm at right now, I'm severely disappointed in you tef.

MARK W TALBOT

It’s true that only three and a half chapters have been delivered in the last nine months while we have paid for eighteen. You now appear to be 34 chapters behind, or almost three and a half books. Please don’t make any more promises. Do whatever you have to do to get writing again and just start posting. Don’t be a perfectionist, just churn them out and clean them up later if you have to. People quitting now will have paid for 34 chapters they won’t get to read. This is still my favorite story and I hope you can get your shit together.

Steven

Michael, don't you realize that the submission comments are just a game to whomever is the current author of TSM. They are not connected to the reality of the situation. It's kind of sick.

Michael56Smith

.... 08/04/2026, ... Okay Tef, Sunday has come and gone, and still no finished chapter #181, (part 2 / complete), .... How about an Update, at least, saying where are you on it, and perhaps what is holding you up? -- And then I guess we'll have to wait until the end of the month (EOM) to read it, ... would you say something please, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

-- "I have a clear weekend now, so I'll finish the chapter for you by Sunday." -- "I'll wrap up chapter 181 this weekend and try to keep you informed of my progress next month." 08/05/2026, .... no completed chapter, no update, not even a short note, ... what's up Tef? Please get an Intern to send out your "I'll be late" notices, and maybe to get the free sites running again, ... talk to us Tef! ... ;-) ttfn

MVFast

I’m really hoping to see the rest of 181 before the end of the month…

Neil Shepherd

Hurtful? Oh diddums we don’t want to be hurtful by telling the truth for heavens sake….

SciFiFan

If he doesn't finish 181 and give us 182 I'm out. Placeholder 215!!! Seems more like 35 lies. If Tefler would show a couple of months of solid 1 to 2 complete chapters he could consider a member tier that gets to help with storyline and proofreading. Other authors do this. It could help with his 'writer's block '

Michael56Smith

... telling the truth verses acting like a nasty school yard bully are really two different things, ... several of you, please consider becoming a little more mature, and lay off the childish insults, ... ;-) ttfn

Shelton

I love your approach in this matter, keeps me smiling in spite of the sadness. I just wish he would just get closer to getting current.

Who Me

Didn't he say "Last Sunday"? Been a week - AGAIN

Big Dude

August 12, 6 planets will be in alignment and Tefler is MIA.

Michael56Smith

-- Truth or a way to say hurtful things? ... This format is something Tef has written in for over a decade, ... Is he experiencing writers Block? or maybe Burn-Out? or just plain tired / fatigued of the whole TSM theme? -- Give the guy a break, he has been obliviously trying to satisfy his fans, ... but chapter #180 was a lot harder to write than was his totally awesome and amazing chapter #100, ... and back then he could still knock out a couple installments per month, ... --And I ask you, just how creative could YOU be on demand and against a deadline? -- I would even bet you a lunch at drive thru window that Tef is really craving to go back and rewrite many portions of his last hundred plus chapters or so, (that might be why he has stopped releasing new books after his book 4, ... probably he just really wants to 'fix them up' before they go out as one of his books), ... but he can't because he has to write the next chapter for his fans, ... and to feed his family ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

, ... Many of Tef's Fans have suggested that one way for him to catch up on his many advance (placeholder) chapters would be to write smaller chapters so that he can then send us more chapters each month, but he'd only be writing at the same word length as one of his installments now, ... -- He might be hesitant to do this, thinking ahead to his eventual published book formats, .... more small chapters just might look bad to him, ... Perhaps a pretty Intern / Editor might talk him into dividing his work into more chapters, ... So, get yourself an Intern Tef, ... ;-) ttfn

Glisern

Yea, that's if for me. I've paid for over 30 chapters I've not gotten. You promise every time that things will change, you keep making other promises still, and the only consistent thing is not chapters being written; it's you breaking your promises. I will consider re-joining at some distant point in the future, if there are ever signs of improvement.

Big Dude

It is Sunday again already?

Bob Knox

Could be worse. J.D. Sallinger famously only managed four books in his lifetime. Y’all could be waiting for something that will never come. The problem is less an author who likes to get it right than the economic model he’s forced into. Writers often work best with three stage payments: advance, pay on completion, and royalties. Tefler probably gets some back catalogue royalties from Amazon. Unfortunately he’s become too reliant on what amounts per chapter advances (the placeholders). Would be good to fix this, as the placeholders, promises, and personal drama create a lot of acrimony. I’m not clever enough to know how to fix it.

1bigguy

Years ago Tefler stated that if he earned $1500.00 per month he would write full time. On May 17, 2017 he stated that his Wife agreed for him to write full time. Now $1,500.00 does not go as far today as is 2017. But why does he need place holders that bring in over $10,000.00 per month? Is he living at a higher life style that his income supports? Is he writing full time or only part time. Writers block i do not believe last for years, but i am not a writer.

2026-09-23 11:00 Recent news and events may have Tefler contemplating his own mortality and the time he has left to complete the task at hand. That task of course being the full completion of the story he started over a decade ago. If he is honest with himself, he may begin to question whether or not his legacy is going to be an unfinished work. And if he decides he really wants to complete this work, will he begin to regret the time he has wasted these last couple of years? For example, Geoffrey Chaucer died in the 1400, before he was able to complete the full plan of his work on the Canterbury Tales; 13 years after he began his task. The original premise called for 4 tales each from 30 pilgrims amounting to 120 total. There are no surviving manuscripts written in Chaucers hand, and only 24 full tales are known to have survived.

Well only one more Sunday to go but then it is the end of the month anyways. So much for keeping us informed.

Sol Tangoran

34 chapter is how far you're behind now. I'd say it's time to stop charging and produce AT LEAST 30 chapters.

Sol Tangoran

8 months, and all you've given us for our THOUSANDS of dollars is a chapter and a half? Dude, I'd be ashamed.

Michael Cummings

I am tired of S.O.S. every month! This will be the last month that I will bother to even see if he can produce any of his past promises LOL!!!!!!!!

Michael56Smith

.... is Sol being a bit of a bully that can actually do basic math? That's amazing! ... He is telling our Tef, how to do his job, ... and yeah, Tef could use some help, but what makes Sol think he is the one that has the right to tell him what he needs to do? ... -- Personally, I am thinking that he might be better off if he left the UK behind, he just needs to stay away from most of California (like LA) and that crazy New York City, ... those'd be even worse, ... ;-) ttfn

Austin Adams

Tef, I love your stories so much but charging for almost 40 placeholders because you are so far behind is just NOT ok. I get that you are struggling to write the stories and or having family or health problems but the first thing you need to do is stop making empty promises. You need to set smaller goals for yourself. I don’t think releasing chapters in 2 parts was a good idea. I would love nothing more than to increase my monthly pledge to $20-40 bucks but you NEED to get it together and find someone to help you with these stories. Like you should focus on the main plot with John and the girls and hand any side plot to anyone willing to help you out. And just so I’m clear I’m not shaming you because I don’t know your situation I’m just venting my frustrations and feeling towards how you have been handling your Patreon over the last few years.

SciFiFan

In addition to breaking his word regarding placeholders, he also failed to deliver his Ch 181 Part 2 this month. So now we get two placeholders a month for half a chapter. Are we just getting punked? Is Tef just trying to see how far he can push his patrons? I for one would pay more IF we received honesty and sizeable chapters per month.

Michael56Smith

8/28/26, ... ... (?) Will our Tef be telling us at EOM that he'll no longer post Placeholders as he has found a regular JOB once again, ... but that he will likely only be able to write maybe a third to a half of one chapter each month, dropping only up to 4 chapters per year from now on, ... -- hey complainers, be careful what you ask for, ... you might just get it, ... ;-) ttfn

SciFiFan

I went back and read the first few years of comments and learned some very interesting things. I'm sure everyone knows that Tefler used to produce at least one sizeable chapter per month and sometimes two. What I learned was: 1. Back in 2016 when Tef was a part-time writer he wrote about thinking how to end TSM. Ten years ago he was trying to wrap up the story. 2. Back then he regularly corresponded with us on Patreon. 3. In 2017, his amazing writing let him hit his income goals. 4. In 2017 he said he would wrap up TSM in six months. While I am sure we are all very happy he did not, this story turned into an EPIC tale. I have recently seen Tef take too many plot divergences. There is no easy way to write through the mess he has gotten TSM into. IMO, the Eshunu plot should have been finished before the Progenitor war got into full swing. The excursion into the whiny Progenitor hiding in his underground city should never have been written until it would be immediately resolved. Etc.. It appears that Tef needs help with plot development which would make writing easier. I can also understand if Tef is tired of TSM as it is still going 10 years longer than he originally planned. TEF, If you would like help with plot development I, and I'm sure others, would be happy to share our ideas or comment on your ideas outside of this forum so as to not ruin the surprises for anyone else. You know how to reach us.

Michael56Smith

Well, if past EOM drops are anything to go on, then I'd expect Tef to drop what he has ready for us late on the 31st, ... at about 9 or 10pm, before midnight at least (PDT) tonight, .... ;-) ttfn

Smart wombat

I'm out, been made redundant, and have to economise. Too many owed to me, which I have paid for supporting.

Michael56Smith

Well Mark, our Tef has agreed to no further Placeholders, ,,, and He will try to produce more TSM in a timely manner, .... However, being a writer involves much pressure to produce in a given period of time, so it is a struggle, .,. be kind, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

, .... I would rather have more of the TSM story than those few dollars back, ... we are supposed to be Patrons supporting an artist (a writer) and Tef has given us a lot of words so far for his Epic tale, ... I say to give him a break and enjoy what we do get, or you can just go elsewhere, .... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

... Yeah! ... support your Local Epic Science Fiction Writer, ... ;-) ttfn

Michael56Smith

, ... Tef, please get yourself an Intern to help you to keep to your schedule better, and to update your rabid fans / Patrons, ... thank you

,,, poetic license to exaggerate, and to just make stuff up, ... oh boy, ... ;-) ttfm

I know writing can be extremely difficult especially since you have such a massive story you are telling. I hope you keep at it and try your best. I can’t wait to see where you taken us. You have gone so far and have done so much. Don’t give up and keep trying your best. You can do this! #devotedfan
