How many fleets did Gahl bring to Kirrix Space? If more than one, how many? How many ships are in a fleet? Back in 150.1 we learned that: The standard configuration of thrall fleets came to him unbidden as he continued, “There should be thirty-six cruisers and forty-eight destroyers escorting six battleships. How did you guess some were missing?” So 90 ships per fleet? How many fleets of that size would a Progenitor bring to attack another Progenitor? Up to 30? 2700 ships? [Remember that one thrall scout cruiser can pick apart and destroy an entire Terran fleet.] How many of Larn's ships are the Maliri trying to recover? In comparison, how many Maliri ships are in the 19 houses combined? If we knew these quantities of ships -- Maliri vs Larn's vs Gahl's - it would really help us understand the logistics of getting the abandoned ships and those of the battle to come.

Well...shit. That happened. John probably could have lasted long enough to build the entire thing if not for the pain, perhaps longer. When Dana builds her version of the Soulforge, she will have to see about removing the pain function and that'll help with future endeavors. Interesting that the metal came out white streaked with colors. It'll be interesting to see how that new metal stacks up against Mael's pure white and the standard Progenitor black. That purified ring will also be an interesting piece for Dana to examine, I bet. Hope she'll be able to requisition it once she wakes up. Even if that ring isn't a full forge by itself, it'll go a long ways towards the progress of Dana building a new one. On another note, considering the Terran news headlines are filled with reports of the attack on the border, is Lynette going to hold a press conference and inform the entire TFed of the danger? She's definitely going to have to tell High Command something, but it would probably be a good idea to give the populace something as well. She does want her administration to be more open and honest with the people, and this seems like something that the people should be informed about. Maybe not the full story about John and his connection to what's going on, but at least something more than whatever fear mongering the media will generate. I know John plans on jumping back to Maliri space with the intent of trying to convince the men to evacuate the border stations, but Edraele should already be working on that, sending word that an invasion is imminent and death will be certain if they stay on the border. The sooner the men start on that the better, and waiting for John to show up before they even hear of the danger is a very bad idea. Even if the men brush off Edraele's warning and/or waste time afterwards debating or blathering about it, at least Edreale would have done her duty as John's Queen. Hopefully the men won't be foolish enough to ignore Edraele's warning or waste time after getting it before acting, especially considering they were smart enough to get away from the hell that was Maliri society on the core worlds before John's arrival.

So just to be clear it's awesome to get a release, I'm kinda curious how all of the 150 parts are fitting to a complete chapter. I mean is it just the 150.1 then the 150.2 et al? Or will you be releasing a fully integrated chapter in the future?

Bp Hlpt

I think I remember that the Maliri were only able to get 2 fleets through the Warp-Gate per charge? And it takes 12 hours to recharge? So 4 fleets through per day? Five days to get all the Maliri fleets through? And it will take Gahl 8 days to get 30 fleets through? I'm getting lost in the timeline and the total quantities of ships involved, much less how they are all going to get back to Maliri Space by the time Gahl is able to get there via wormhole. Disclaimer: I am only a few pages along in my reading, so I have no idea if any of this is explained in the chapter.

Error: "Trying not to smile at Irillith’s description of accessing the Cyber Realm,...." Should be "Helene's" not "Irillith’s".

Here's a question I don't think the team, or at least John, has quite given much thought: if they take Auralei with them aboard the Invictus back to Maliri space, who is going to lead her people while she's gone? How will she communicate back with them? Given just how busy John has been of late, it may be awhile before she returns. John doesn't really have the time right now to get Auralei's friend, or anyone else for that matter, setup to act as her proxy. He could potentially leave one of the girls behind, maybe one of the Nymphs, but I very much doubt they or he want to do that.

.42 She [Lynette] suddenly remember that her matriarch was capable of snuffing her out in an instant. I thought John removed the leech thread so his 'thralls' cannot be drained??

.43 Metals Ch 143 “Goddamn that metal’s tough!” Alyssa exclaimed, glaring at the obstinate wall. “You managed to melt a hole through it though,” Helene said optimistically. Shaking her head, Alyssa’s brow furrowed with worry. “I had to use a ton of energy to even do that. When I blasted Larn’kelnar’s shuttle with a beam that size, I melted a hole straight through several layers of hull plating. It’ll take me forever to reach Irillith at this rate and she’s running out of time.” Ch 150.4 “Which it then channels into the metal they use to make Progenitor dreadnoughts and thrall ships,” John concluded for her. “Yeah, but it’s not quite as simple as that. Some things, like a Progenitor dreadnought, or his private shuttle, are constructed from much higher-grade metal. That requires much greater volumes of psychic energy, so the number of thralls sacrificed increases exponentially.” So we can conclude that as the shuttle hull black metal is comparable to dreadnought black metal then Mael’s white metal in the pyramid is stronger. Agreed??

.44: Tef will be springing a few things on us that he set up in earlier chapters. Calara's plans for a layer defense of Maliri space, with at least part of it was in place already. Also, the new Matriarch's were concidering the strengths and weaknesses of sending their fastest and most advanced ships through the gate to recover Larn's marooned fleets, or to send the not upgraded ships first, while keeping the more advanced ships behind longer, for protection (and we see that they might need them) and we'll likely see them used to escort and protect the freighters that will be ferrying the trade station people away from danger, ... Also, recall Edraele telling Fleet Commander Amlaril that she had a special mission for her fleet, ... Also, those trade stations were built on old defensive platforms (dating back to Valara's time) so those station should still have some working weapon systems, ... like multiple batteries of Nova Lances? Recall that they were built at a time of fear of another progenitor coming to take them over again, ... Yeah, ole Tef is gonna twist, turn, and shock us over the next month or two, ... I'm loving it! ;-) TTFN

One, two, three, four, five, Once I caught a fish alive.... Interesting question of Gahl to Valeria - what did he learn from the Kirrix which is distracting him? and what does his realisation about the shroud mean?

Kensyi

So did Dana fix it so the soulforge is now useable by John's side?

Tygre137

Using "Love" to weaken soulforged metal will definitely be playing a role somewhen down the road. It's been hinted at to often, first the bed now the remark about having love from our favorite blond and now the problems with creating something with John / Jade as "Fuel" is not just a throwaway. IMO. Great read once again and make sure you take good care of your Muse - We like having her around too.

Aldo

Excellent write-up and a blessing to read...the storyline really has amped up...compliments to Tefler...good to see that dana/john solved the puzzle of that mael had left with the white progenitor metal....when i am not mistaken its stronger than its black counterpart right ?..... if it is made with love i am sure it will be easier to find ‘volunteers’...

Aldo

Here is my speculation.....dana will create a device to amplify helene’s empatic powers to send out some sort of (love) pulse to turn the progenitor metal into cookie-dough

Axel L

Por Lynette, though

.70 There is speculation about how much damage Gahl's fleets will do to the Maliri facilities. However, if John gets back with his new wormhole drive and attacks as Rahn designed him to do Gahl might be dead before any thrall attacks can occur? Then the Maliri could requisition lots of 'local' Gahl fleets. And maybe give some to TFED and/or their other allies?

Miguel Garcia Jr

I have only one issue with John now that he has merged. When will he reduce his simpiness? Don't want it completely gone as that makes him who he is...but his ridiculous over over protectiveness seems a bit much doesn't it? It's like he ignores reality when ever he gets into one of his "moods" and ends up emotionally hurting his girls when he's sworn not to do that... Anyway, going on year...damn I for got and still here so great job and I look forward to another fun year of the saga!

RICHARD GIRARDIN

Is there any doubt that Mom and Dad will show up to help defeat Gahl there by redeeming themselves in the eyes of John?

Miguel Garcia Jr

That is exactly what I was talking about 2ndAndrocentric.

Ok so you have lost me I always wait till you say it's complete and this chapter has been dropped in a goddamn blender , what is the full and complete chapter or what order do I download and read this mess ? Sorry I know your busy tefler but if you gonna post like this make sure you have " read in this order " on every update

Nick White

Thank you I'll wait then

Kensyi

I was just thinking if a progenitor needs the soulforge to make the black metal, but it is made from the black metal how does that work which comes first?

Axel L

Maybe the first one is built using a jury rigged soul clay furnace or something. Or maybe even some other tough metal. And then, after it gets going, they patch it up with some proper black metal.

Notlok

Do we have a compiled version of 4 parts yet?

Alex Lee

I think we're having a GRR Martin problem. Way too many characters for you and the readers to keep track of. Especially the Invictus crew. As brutal as it sounds, you're going to have to start killing off characters, even crew members.
