Three Square Meals - Chapter 154 (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

I've finished a preview of the next chapter. I'll post that this month and finish it off as quickly as possible over the next two weeks. 

There's a lot of important events coming up and I want to get through them quickly while I'm feeling inspired. The return to Kythshara should be very interesting. :)

Okay, so I've got a theory: All Progenitor wormhole generators are badly designed and cause nausa. Dana will eventually realise this, and when she perfects them, her generator will be able to charge up in a small fraction of the time.

So, after Tef caught up on his debt yesterday, I bumped my patronage back up to reflect that he was caught up. Yeah, now in the morning I see another “preview” paid post, and so Tef is back in debt again. So…I’ve reduced my patronage again, and will not return it until a full month passes debt-free.

When Tef has written about events on a Progenitor Dreadnought that included a Wormhole jump, getting sick was mentioned. It's just the jump...nothing Dana did.

I think that having a preview, placeholder or partial chapter that requires Tef to complete a chapter the following month is a nice 'guarantee' that we will be getting at least one new chapter the next month, ... better than the bad old days when it could be months in-between chapters, ... The story progresses each and every month, and this makes me happy! ;-) TTFN

I threw it out as a half dozen responses but I'll put it here at the end too. Set your pledge and the max number of times you can be charged per month. Mines at $5 per chapter and two chapters a month. He could put up two chapters this month and a dozen snippits of upcoming chapters and I would be giving him the same as if he just puts up the two. 153 + this got my payment to $10 which is the amount I've allocated to him long-term. If he'd originally set his up as a single recurring monthly payment it would still be $10. Most of the people I support are a simple set monthly amount but some others are a per-post and I have them arranged similarly to Tef. A simple max amount per month arranged around their typical number of postings per month. If you set yours at the max of ONE payment per month for however much you're willing to give and you no longer have to worry about an extra pre-payment post or whatever and more importantly no more whining about it.

Something to consider if you think that Tefler is taking an advance payment every month. He is, BUT... Since he is taking it every month, for those who have been with Tefler awhile, he really only took an extra payment last year. This year, you are paying for exactly the same number of posts as you would if Tefler was not taking an advance payment. Write it down and add it up if you don't believe me. You are not paying Tefler a dime more, and Tefler has not made a penny more from you. In fact, Tefler has actually made less in total because he has more Patreons now than he did last year, so taking the payments early means he made less money in total. I understand, I really do, and I don't like it just out of principle, but I've made peace with it since it's no longer costing me any extra money. And as Michael says, it puts more pressure on Tefler to be sure and get at least one paid section out every month, and hopefully more and sooner.

Tefler's writing has improved. There's much subjective about such a statement, but I have tremendously enjoyed these last few chapters and the Grand Typo Overlord, Bp, finds an objective component to that as well. I find that Tefler has brought in the subject of racism and religion is a sideways sort of way, probably subconsciously; and done a good job at it. I am going to post 2 separate rants about these 2 subjects soon, very much in support of how Tefler seems to be going about this. Again, I doubt Tefler is conscious about much of what he does (see my etymology lists and multiple other rants). A good storyteller is almost like a medium for the zeitgeist.

The Remains of the wedding Day - a small side dish from Chpt 87 Mr. Voss’ third wedding, well actually a “do-over” after Mr. Voss basically eloped, and his first at the New Eden estate, was finally over. Mr. Jennings felt exhausted. Not that Jennings disliked the event or even feeling exhausted, because it had gone off perfectly and it was a dignified event. Yes, it was better to be busy than not. Ever since that “Lion” had walked into Mr. Voss’ life…at this Jennings smiled, recognizing that his own life was more like a part of the Voss family to his contentment…Jennings began to think to himself more deliberately now ”Yes, where was I? When the “Lion” had walked into their life, it was as if someone pulled back the curtains and opened the windows of a lifeless mansion. Light, then a refreshing wind and finally what seemed like a warm and lovely gale had swept their lives clean of regret and left behind so very much tiding up to do! Everything was joyfully out of place and so very improperly lovely.” Jennings reached his destination and finally sat down on his very old, and even more comfortable, leather chair in his private room. He let out a sigh leaning backwards, with his eyes closed. The chair had been his father's, a butler like him, and he treasured it. It had been in his mind since a small child when he would curl up there in his father's private quarters and wish to grow up to be just like him. Jennings had always a very proper butler. After the kidnapping of Catherine, Rachel’s mother, he had not allowed his own sorrow at the loss of such a lovely woman to show, ever. It had hurt him to see Mr. Voss and Rachel grow apart. It had hurt him that Rachel, whom in many ways he thought of more as a niece, (daughter? No he dare not even think it), think that his demeanor was only paid for. That was all right though. His life mattered only in so far as he could help his employer. Men could be proud of many different things, Mr. Jennings was proud of being a butler. A faithful, helpful servant whose life was to help others. Lost in thought Mr. Jennings did not hear the soft knock of Kazuo Ishiguro until the soft spoken chef spoke. “Mr Jennings sir? Putting away the wedding gifts we were surprised to note that one of them is for you, sir.” Startled, Jennings stood straight, put on his professional demeanour as a soldier would put on armour and straightening his vest, “Please come in.” The small man came in with a small gift wrapped package and said “This was on top of a large crate with instructions to carefully put away the bottles of wine inside. The instructions are from Rachel and it says that these wine bottles are to be set aside for your personal use. We are storing them now but this one package was to delivered to you tonight.” Bowing to Mr. Ishiguro in respect of his ancestry, Jennings took the package which by shape and feel seemed to be a bottle of wine, and closed the door after the man left. Intrigued, he set the holoviewer on his desk, taking a moment to relish the thought of what possible vintage it could be to merit such attention. Jennings was an excellent wine connoisseur of course. Yet despite having access to the most expensive wines known to Terra, he very rarely drank and he would never even think of drinking from Mr. Voss’ winery. Even the used bottles he would carefully reseal using nitrogen to prevent decay and store away. It was not unusual for him to give a bottle away to one of Mr. Voss’s clients even without asking Mr. Voss, as he had done to the Lion that day months ago. He opened the package and took out a bottle but the writing was in a script he had never seen. There was not even a label, the writing seemed to be inlaid gold directly into the bottle’s…glass? “It dosen’t feel like glass exactly. The bottle feels more like some sort of pliant crystal and yes, it slightly deforms to make it easier to grip! Surely though, this is not actual gold embossed…” Frowning, he pushed a couple of buttons on his desk and scanned the bottle into his computer and had to wait an unusually long time to get a reply. If a computer synthesized voice could sound surprised, this one did. “The inscription is in the Maliri language, it reads: House Holaris red, special vintage; the rest unable to decipher. If you wish to proceed with further translation, a request to the embassy will be sent.” Stunned, Jennings eyes became unfocused and he almost dropped the bottle. He was holding a bottle of Maliri wine! If he had heard correctly, he was now the owner of a large crate of them! Very carefully, he settled the bottle down on the table. Mind blank, time passed, then his dry eyes demanded to blink and the ability to think returned to him. He turned the computer on and looked at the bottle again, as if it could somehow speak. Obviously Rachel had left some sort of explanation on the holoreader. She was always such a thoughtful girl, Rachel. She had the beauty and effortless elegance of her mother and the brains, uncanny character judgment and drive of her father. He was so very proud of her, with a chuckle he realized she had always been his little angel, long before all of Terra claimed her as theirs. Whatever message Rachel had, it would warm his heart. He turned the holoviewer on and was surprised to see Alyssa’s cerulean eyes, they locked on him and like always that Alyssa looked at him, it seemed she was staring at his soul. It was very unnerving. No matter how kind she was, Alyssa always scared him a little and Jennings was not easily frightened. “Hi there Jennings! You’re wondering why you’re listening to me and not your lovely niece Rachel.” “Niece?” thought to himself Jennings, “I had better correct that error soon.” “Don’t bother contacting me about the fact that Rachel is not your biological niece. That doesn’t change how you think of her, or should I call her your daughter?” A sly smile spread across the face Alyssa as she tilted her head and tapped on her left temple. “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with, well, safe with the entire crew of the Invictus, including Rachel! Ta-daaaa!” Suddenly the camera panned out and he saw a rather flustered looking Rachel sitting next to Alyssa. Rachel composed herself and earnestly told Jennings “This was not my idea Mr. Jennings. Alyssa has serious problems with respecting boundaries…” at that she was interrupted by Alyssa’s melodic laugh “…but she means well. The wine is actually my way of apologizing. When first you met Alyssa, John and Dana, I said that you were obsequious and were only complimenting them because you were paid to act that way. I was wrong Jennings, and Alyssa has explained to me that you are actually quite fond of me, as you were of my mother, and that you also admire my Father. I always thought of you as just a butler, but you were always so much more. I am sorry that when I pulled away from my father, in my hatred, I scorned your genuine affection for me also. I am going to make time in the future, if you wish, for you. If not and you wish to retain your privacy then I will respect that too. Just know that you have my sincere apologies for misjudging you.” “But how…” Jennings thought to himself, and as if the holoreader were some sort of virtual intelligence that could read his mind, that unnerving Alyssa answered. “Jennings, you certainly can keep secrets, so I am trusting you with this one. I am a telepath. During the preparations for the wedding, Rachel made a remark about you only being nice because you were paid to be.” Tilting her head and tapping her temple again, Alyssa’s eyes soflty began to glow. I looked into your mind Jennings. The Ashanath tell me it is very rude to walk around in other people’s heads without permission but hey! What does a street urchin know about etiquette! You can relax, I spent some time in your head, sat in a nice comfortable old leather chair that seems to be in the back of your mind a lot; but I did not re arrange the furniture. If you ever do want me to redecorate the inside of your skull though, let me know! I am quite the fashonista and your mind could do with some updating.” Jennings thought back to a moment some time past when Alyssa had come barging through followed by a bevy of young women, as they were trying to decorate the grounds and began to issue orders as if she were in charge. Annoyed, the staff had turned to Jennings to stop Alyssa and restore order. When he had walked up behind her Alyssa turned as if knowing he was there. With the sun behind her, her face was shadowed and Jennings froze as he noticed her eyes were shining with a soft white. A warm smile spread through her face, and she gave a slight sigh before gently apologizing for barging in. She then asked him to forgive her, because at such a young age, sometimes her enthusiasm got the better of her. She would leave the staff to what they were doing and appreciated their patience with her. Jennings had muttered something to the effect that it was quite alright, but Jennings felt as if it was he, not Alyssa, that was the young inexperienced child that Alyssa was going to be patient with. Rachel speaking again “At the end of this message there will be a number should you ever wish to contact me and have a private chat without this…” waving her hand dismissively at Alyssa as if to a child, “…person being involved. I might not be able to answer right away, but I will make time for you. Thank you for having been there when as a child my bitterness did not let me notice you cared.” With that the holoreader message ended with a number. Jennings felt proud indeed. His life had dignity.

.70: Dana, and the wormhole generator, as well as the trip through Mael'nerak's Hyper-warp gate were both trips out of and back into the Shroud, ... yet neither Sparks, nor any of the other extremely bright Lionesses mention this. And this, Tef knows. it not a factor with the nausea as he has written of Valeria getting the same tummy troubles on previous trips in the dreadnought. But I would have thought it worth a mention, and then have Dana working on a test to find out if this had played a part in the stomach upsets, on their next jump back through into the Shroud, when they pop over to Kythshara. (Put this test in Tef, please). The curvaceous Grand Engineering Overload will fix this nausea problem, not knowing it has been an excepted 'fact' for multiple millennia, ... And as a few others have brought up, she might just shorten the generators recharge time too, ... Lots happening in the next few chapters, ... and the gang still have not had a chance to do a 'real' refit on the ole Invictus yet, just partials and upgrades, ... This summer is going to be so good for reading, ... Hope you and yours all remain in good health, ... ;-) TTFN

So a question: when the team left the Shroud, they noticed a change in their powers - is the reverse also true? Did the team notice the change when they returned to Genthalas?

I know john wants to try and rescue the male Maliri but how far out are the Malari fleets from claiming the new thrall fleet?? How far until the Invictus gets its overrhaul. Time is ticking down we need to focus - unless it is a red herring or an important hint.....

Teffler. It's getting confusing what with you posting unfinished chapters. So if you could, add something to the effect of 'unfinished' or 'Draft' to the DOCX file's title you're still working on, and 'Final' or 'Finished' or 'Completed' to chapters that are complete and ready to read in full. Thank you.

Actually @Michael, Tefler doesn't. If YOU would reread @RWJ's request more carefully, you would see that he is asking Tefler to please mark the DOCX file, which he currently doesn't, at least not consistently, not the Patreon post, which he currently does. The current Ch 154 preview DOCX file is labeled "Three Square Meals - Chapter 154.docx", the exact same thing that the final version will be labeled. He does a better job on chapters that start out being multi-part, like #150, but even the current release of #150 is surely not in final form with as many typos currently exist. To be fair to Tefler, even the "final" release of a Chapter might have to be released again if enough typos are found, but it could be better than Tefler's current system. EDIT: Looking back over all of Tefler's posts, it seems that MOST of the time, Tefler does mark the DOCX files correctly, but not all of the time, and not for Ch 154. @Michael is mostly right, but @RWJ's reminder to Tefler is a valid one.

And speaking about marking the posts, Tefler used to do a much better job about Marking a post as FINAL, when it got to that point. He started marking the posts of the final releases that way back in 2017, and went through 2020, marking most of the posts of the final releases. But he hasn't marked a single chapter since 2020. I know several of them still have typos that I have found that haven't been fixed, but surely some of the releases over the last 18 months are final? Please keep in mind I am not trying to rag on Tefler. I have tried to consistently support him since I first found him on Literotica, but I will also support someone who politely asks for something to be improved when it is a reasonable request that doesn't seem to be too big an imposition, especially when it is something that Tefler used to do anyway.

@Michael, please stop trying to make yourself look better by putting other people down. It’s not working for you. Insulting and belittling others is just sad. You can also stop numbering your posts. You’re the only one still doing it, it no longer has a purpose, and it just looks like you’re trying to call attention to yourself. Also not working. And the comments you made just prove you don’t know what you are talking about. I said you were mostly right, but not completely. First off, I acknowledge that the naming “issue” is a very minor one, and easily overcome. @WVNCRich posted one way he uses to fix it for himself. But the “issue” doen’t need to occur at all, if Tefler would not name diffent files with the exact same name. We’re not talking about Tefler updating a post with a corrected version, but with the same name. That’s to be expected, and if the post is marked that the current file is an updated or FINAL copy, then that’s on us to know whether we have already gotten that particular file or not. Naming the file appropriately with some kind of version indication would be great, but we’ve learned to deal with it over the last six years. I’m talking about completely different versions of a file having the same name. Like why couldn’t the Ch 154 preview had any other name than the one that will be used for the final version? @Michael, while only effecting a few files, this is an issue that goes back over three years. It’s an issue for those of us that like to keep copies of all of the chapters locally to be able to read and enjoy them again and again. Maybe you always download a new version every time you read it? I don’t know. And always using the files from Patreon, we believe that we’re getting the most up to date version, but we don’t want to download a file again if we already have it and it hasn’t changed. And when we download it, I assume most of us, like me, download all of the chapters into the same folder. And heaven forbid we don’t want to overwrite a newer file by mistake with an older version. To show you how long this has been an issue, here are ten examples over the last three years that demonstrate the problem. I’ve included the links to Tefler’s posts so you can see for yourself if you want to look. Yes, Tefler describes correctly in his post what the files are, but since the files are named the same, if you stored the files locally just by the name Tefler assigned, how do you know just by the filename which version you have? 100…Bp Hlpt….please relax and stop complaining. If you haven’t noticed or are not aware for the first couple days Tefler is constantly fixing edits that he missed. Most of these edits are posted on discord. Plus Tefler can label HIS story and HIS files anyway he wants. Everyone needs to just chill and read the story.

Alyssa Meets Saturday Morning Cartoons Alyssa slouched into the briefing room aboard the Invictus feeling exhausted. It had been another long harrowing day, and though she felt wonderful at being so needed she could do with a bit of rest. As she sat, she noted Neysa with a smile holding a holoemiter. “Alyssa, there’s an interesting message that was delivered to me and I think if you see it, you’re going to feel a lot better.” Neysa explained that the Cat’ari diplomat Ralthang had given it to her; but that after seeing it, she thought Alyssa would find the contents very interesting. It was from the princess Josie of the Cat’ari. Turning it on, Alyssa recognized the large broad hairy chest and mammalian like face immediately as that of the Cat’ari. Alyssa had only met the Cat’ari once when they rescued Niskera and the 12 ambassadors from the Kirrix; just before Niskera joined them. She thought back how despite the early difficulties in having John get past her aggressive recruiting, Niskera had been a tremendous help to all of them. The message began with Josie performing a curiously long bow where kneeling on the floor face down with arms extended in what seemed like a posture of total submission and pleading; the audio began. “Neysa, when I met you, I recognized your feline ancestry. I have studied the Terran lion species and find remarkable similarities to our own social structure. I am a female, as are all Cat’ari diplomats, because it is the female of our species that is most cunning in personal relations. Our males are larger, stronger and most concerned with things. They run our society and make the final decisions. Yet it is we who guide them, very much with their consent. We females are concerned with people more than things. I have spent weeks looking at TFNN and other video sources and it seems clear the Lion runs his Pride very much as a wise Cat’ari male runs his.” Sitting up but still with head bowed, Josie continued. “In no way is this message meant to offend or challenge you. However after discussing it with many of my people, we notice that your Lion seems to collect specimens from various species. Our Alpha of Alphas, my father Thundarr will not live much longer, and I have yet to take a mate. He has volunteered to step aside and make his entire lineage second to your Lion. He wishes to do this because the most important thing to any wise male is the protection of his mates and children. He has a mystical sword with a prescient eye. It has revealed to him that our people would do well under your mate’s rule. If it is no offense to you, on behalf of our people I offer our planet and any of our females, to your Lion. I saw this post in the Community section from 5 years ago - https://www.patreon.com/posts/13012943 - and thought of you. _________________________________ Some Musings on the Importance of Names and the Mythology of 3SM I've commented previously (I can't remember if it was here or at Lit) about how, if the Terrans are largely crushed before John achieves victory over the BSP, future generations might develop a religion based on the Pride. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but Tefler has done a lot to set that up. Or I've just been watching too much Twin Peaks, again. To begin, we know that ancient mythology is important to the TFed because they name all of their big ships after deities, their weapons, or some aspect of their character. There are no exceptions so far. Without going back to check, it seems to me that the majority of the names are based on Greek/Roman myths. John was conceived on the planet designated Arcadia. Most of us nerds will know that name from video games or one of the upper planes from D&D but it is actually the name of a part of Greece. It just so happens that the god Pan supposedly lived there. Rather appropriate for our lusty hero. Later, John was born on Olympus station, named for the home of the gods. I think that's interesting and not at all a coincidence. Let's consider our hero's name. The surname Blake is possibly derived from two old English words. One of them means 'black' and the other, 'pale', a curious contradiction that seems fitting for a man who is trying to break free from his evil heritage. It also seems to work with his "ends justify the means" sort of morality. "John," on the other hand, is derived from an ancient Jewish name meaning "YAHWEH is gracious." That seems to show which side of the Blake divide he will, ultimately, fall on. I haven't found anything of similar (speculative) significance in the girls' names. I did find out that Dana is not a remotely Irish name so Sparks fucked that one up. Jumping back to the mythology thing because I didn't properly plan this essay, we have a hero, conceived in a pastoral utopia, born in the home of the gods with his harem. Two are from paradise (New Eden: Sakura, Rachel). Two have been rescued from the ferryman (Karron: Alyssa, Dana). Three are from beyond the stars (the Maliri twins, Jade). And then there's Calara. While Jericho has religious significance, I haven't thought of a way to fit it into this paradigm.

.126: I have been doing some re-readings of earlier chapters, and it has brought up a question that I don't recall having been asked, or at least, not answered. The Maliri House Valaden home world, has been referred to as both Valaden, and Valada. I have seen Valaden most often and earlier, but Tef has used Valada more since the gang found the preserved remains of former Matriarch Valada in the bunker/tomb beneath the palace. I am wondering if the change is deliberate, or a mental thing, he is unaware of? Inquiring mind(s) ;-) TTFN

I found the link to a more up to date timeline, thanks @jdg45, but I think I found a couple of times where it seems that Cignal might have skipped ahead a day, or, if he is correct, I don't understand his logic. 1) At the end of Chapter 145, Timeline sheet line #5530 - #5534 - This is all part of the same conversation on Brecken's World where Lynette has arrived unexpectedly, says a few words, then says she will talk to them tomorrow. But Cignal's timeline advances from day 215 Evening, to 216 Morning, to 216 Evening. That can't be right. It's all the same conversation. I think the cause of this error was when Tefler had to rewrite this section to correct the fact that this meeting happened at 9 in the evening. Maybe Cignal made the timeline based on the way the chapter was originally written then got goofed up when he added in the new/corrected part of the chapter? I don't know. 2) Near the end of 150.3, Timeline sheet line #5907 - #5909 - This is all part of when Galkiran Captain Narzera attacks Zelig. Cignal's timeline goes from Day 219 Evening, to 219 midnight, to 220 Night. Yet the comments in column "F" confirm it is the same event. "When they didn't give her what she wants she attacks." ... "As the Galkiran cruiser cripples the cruisers..." I'm not sure why Cignal advanced the timeline. It's all the same battle. On Post Coital Semen Next question, what happens to the post impregnation semen? Back in chpt 96, again 141, we see John getting several Maliri pregnant. In humans, whose sperm are weaker, that will only take about a teaspoon (~2 ml) of semen. John puts out pints, with more powerful sperm and he only really needs one. I do not seem to find what happens to the rest of the semen though. Does it go to waste? Do the sperm instead get into the abdominal cavity? Do some of John unused sperm, like mine, frustrated at the lack of a proper target then fuse their nucleus into whatever hapless cell just happens to be in the way like some wild boar out of control (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19584174/)? So after years of pumping sperm into the same woman, does she actually, physically, become part of me? Seems we can do better than that Tefler! Jade dosen’t have to suck every last bit out of a pregnant girl’s womb. Tefler ought have some sort of explanation where that post impregnation semen goes. Yes Virginia, anything you put on your vagina will eventually float around all your abdominal organs (well, not the Kidneys maybe) so do not use talcum powder (mesothelioma). So the students loved my lectures, but Clown World frowned.

On Morning Sex Before Pee As I wrote the above question about post-coital semen above, I began asking myself as do many of the characters, where does several pints of the semen come from and……EUREKA! That’s why John doesn’t need to pee in the morning! He just turns pee into semen! Well now, Space Magic has solved that conundrum. After all, pee getting into the prostate and semen into the bladder is a daily occurrence for healthy men. With a pliant enough bladder and some serious rework of the male urinary tract, yes, I can see that. After all, several animals, especially well studied is the “hibernating” bear, can recycle their urine back into muscle. Yes, I know bears do not truly hibernate, but 40+ years ago the only research I knew of regarding single carbon metabolism recycling of urea was from bears. Aaaaaaanyways, the point being is that there ARE metabolic, anatomical and physiological pathways in mammals that could allow John to turn pee into semen. Now, as to the girls not having to pee, it has been made abundantly clear they have been made much more “pliant”; or as my favorite expression from Athena, “malleable” which actually means easily hammered. That is certainly possible by increasing the size of transitional tissue cells, changing most of the epithelium into transitional cells and increasing the size of various interstitial proteins. Yes, the not peeing in the morning is finally making sense to me. Now if I could only get Tefler to write about 10k words where Rachel goes into details we could have ourselves a bit of an education.

Yes, you see, John doesn't keep his semen in his seminal tubes or prostate. His ureters bring urine from the kidneys to the prostate, which then turns the urea upstream back into amino acids and the purine/pyrimidines, phosphorous ect back into DNA. His prostate then stores this in his bladder. That mechanism probably got activated by Alyssa, after all the mechanism for reclaiming urea is turned on during hybernation, back off after. Anyway, he probably has not noticed that he no longer urinates just like so many of the changes are not noticed until pointed out (body change, cesation of menstruation ect). This is finally making sense to me. The girls do urinate but with their super stretch everything (including bladders) it is no problem there. No one has yet noted that John does not pee except me. Does someone have a contact number for Rachel? I am really excited over this!

While we are waiting for Ch 154, hopefully coming soon, a friend of mine and I were chatting and we came up with some thoughts to consider. We are assuming that Xar found out about John and Rahn being at Arcadia, and about John's Maliri name Baen’thelas, when Larn died. It didn't matter that Larn had been under the shroud when he died, since Larn went straight to the astral when he died. Speaking of Baen’thelas, of course Xar would assume his name was Baen’thelas and pass that on to Gahl, because why would a Progenitor call himself "John?" Xar, and Gahl, wouldn't believe that any progenitor would work with another, or give a dreadnought to each other, so at this point they don't know what to think about John and Rahn. They probably think John is in Larn's dreadnought since Larn "destroyed" John's ship, and Rahn is....?? Why doesn't Xar know, and pass along to Gahl, the location of Mael's gate? We know that there have now been several Progenitors in the Terran, Maliri, Arcadia area over the years: John, Gahl, Larn, Rahn, and Mael. Mael should have gone to the astral when he died during the Battle of the Heavens. Does that imply that Mael is still alive? Everyone else except Larn is. Assuming that Xar gave Gahl the coordinates of Arcadia (which Xar got from Larn?), why didn't Xar give Gahl the coordinates of the rest of the system, which Larn (and Mael?) obviously knew? An example of Xar's fallibility? We don't have any proof that Larn actually went to Maliri space for some reason. Everywhere else in the system as Larn stirred up trouble, yes, but Maliri space, no. Why not? Surely he could see how powerful they were, and that they were a thrall race. Gahl picked up on that immediately after communicating with the Kirrix queens. Just hadn't gotten around to it? It seems that Gahl might not have had the layout of the overall area, which is why he had to get it from the Kirrix, who conveniently also didn't have the details of Maliri space, especially not the location of Mael's Gate. But Mael obviously did/does. Another indication regarding Mael possible existence? Regarding the Randarians, Rahn did say that his matriarch and thralls were dead. I think he had drained them to stay alive during the battle with Mael. I have no idea if Mael had left any thralls back on his homeworld when he first came to the area, or if he had either drained or freed them at some point. I don't remember it ever having been mentioned. I know he freed the thralls in Maliri space that he didn't take with him to his final battle with Rahn. Apparently, Xar feeds from the death of the thralls, but Xar doesn't get any information from them, otherwise Xar would know where Mael's Gate was, since surely some of them helped build it. Xar really must not understand the nature of the shroud, he just knows he can't contact/control the Progenitors when they are there, and he hates losing his resources and food. If Xar knew the full nature of the shroud, surely he wouldn't keep sending Progenitors to the area since once there none of them have wanted to leave. Gahl now seems to be aware of the effects of the shroud, after his "conversations" with the Kirrix, so will Xar learn as well when Gahl dies? Since Larn knew about the shroud and its effect on communication with Xar, and also didn't want to leave the shroud, Xar must have only got information or facts from Larn when he died and not feelings or desires? We'll have to have Tefler explain how space magic really works.

.141: A CLUE! Mael'nerak did not pass on to Xar'azuith in the Astral to become one of his abominations, yet he 'dies' enough for his claiming of the Maliri to pass. Now John has Claimed those azure lovelies. Where o' where has our Mael'nerak gone! I once speculated that he might have created his own sub-plane and 'captured' one of the Kyth'faren Citadels of Knowledge, away from Xar's horrible minions. And that like the original Kyth'faren to 'preserve' the Citadel, Mael's essence (and possible his earlier Matriarch) is/are still maintaining this Astral Library, the entry key would be on Kythshara of course. This, or some other Tefler, space magic, could explain some of Xar'azuith's lack of Maliri/Mael knowledge, yet allow Mael'nerak to appear to be dead to the Maliri. ... maybe? I really have wanted John and the gang to find another Citadel they can study for years, so this was my way of getting them one. And bonus, they would now have a way to talk to Mael, ... thoughts, ... ;-) TTFN

However, ole smarty-pants Mael, might have had an escape plan, for his life essence at least. To reside in his Astral sub-plane containing his previous Matriarch and a Kyth'faren Citadel of Knowledge (no Monstrous Abominations in his sub-plane). I speculated that his capture of the Citadel might have allowed the ancient Kyth'faren Guardian to depart, and he slipped in that Guardians place, his loyal Matriarch (I'll do anything for him), the one before Valada (40,000 years prior to the War in the Heavens). He could have entered his sub-plane from almost anywhere, saving his soul from Xar'azuith, truly a fate far worse than mere death. ;-) TTFN (hey Tef, how does that space magic work?)

Okay I am going to say something, I have always stayed out of this subject. Please if you can’t put up a full chapter please don’t put up a few pages so we can be charged. I have started to reread the full story line and because of part chapters and may changes made I have noticed I missed a lot. Now just me I know a some of people give others a hard time on voicing their opinions, I will say I do like the story, the characters, the plot, okay the hard part for me to say Tefler you are a writer now you have fans that will stick to end you fans that will complain and you have fans like me wishing for the best story you can put to paper. I know you make your wages from the chapters you post here but they should be your best the first time not after a bunch of part rewrites may be the wrong word. Write the best you can then give us the story we can read. I will be waiting for those to tell me to go and leave but I now only come back every weeks too see if there is any updates. John

Yes about the names, but I don't see enough of a connection to speculate. Also I strongly disagree that the robot had an AI. Tefler draws a distinction between an AI and a VI (virtual intelligence). Early on when Sparks automated a response to interdiction, John expressed concerns and Sparks made that distinction clearer. The most recent time the distinction was drawn was about the spider mines because John did not want to make AIs for kamikase reasons. There is no way a corporation like Oceanus would be messing around with an actual AI; unless they had a Westworld branch (that would be a nice side dish story).

Problem: the sleep time for the first 2 feedings (14 hours, 4 hours to the minute) seem implausible given they are set on Terran time. One would expect a non Terran origin like progenitors to have timing that does not line up to the minute with Terran hours. Solution: John is half Terran and also grew up on Terra, then served in Terran military with the strict routine thereof. His diurnal cycle is set to 24 hours. There may be a range for progenitor sperm action and John has unconsciously set the time to the closest minute in his desire for order. Problem: people who take a trashy erotic Space Opera so seriously that they're constantly thinking about details like sleep times after feeding and what happens to morning urine. Solution: we're working on it. We need more money for research to cure this malady.

I live in texas and we couldn’t survive without ac, especially since we have had about 60 days in a row with heat index over 100. I used to live in Connecticut, southern New England and we didn’t have ac until the 90s, 20 years after I moved to texas. We would spend the days over 100 degrees at the movies. 100 degrees is about 35 c? The most important persons in my life other than my wife are my car mechanic an ac repair person. 🤪

.235: I have been doing another rereading of Three-Square Meals, and it reminded me of a question that I had a few times in previous chapters. My question is centered on the wonderfully fresh air that the Invictus has, from the filtration system they based on Dana's spying out the Geniya trading stations own Air filtration system. Many guests aboard the Invictus should have noticed the remarkably fresh air, especially Charles Harris (former Commander of the Invictus), and Jack Fernandez (15 years as the Captain of the Damocles) should have noted and remarked on the air quality, ... and Admiral Harris would want the schematics to add to the upgrades he was pushing through the Olympus Shipyards, and to upgrade the Air Filtration system at Olympus too. Yet Tef has not given us a single mention, not a sniff, of a fresh air discovery, that would and, again if Dana patients it, could fund the Lion's Orphanages for years. The idea of selling the system off to multiple species/worlds/empires at the same time has been discussed, but so far, nada/zip/babkas, ... another small thread that Tef has left dangling, ... Perhaps Tef is waiting for Alyssa's new and improved trading station(s) to open, and have that fresh air be part of the enticement to visit the new trading center, ... maybe? ;-) TTFN

.251: Upon rereading TSM for the umpteenth time, in chapter #54, during the first refit at the Genthelas shipyard, after the first group of 20 engineers received a mouthful of John's psychic cum, they slept for only 4 hours, as did the groups the next day, ... I guess Tef thought we would recall this when Jade and her sisters bestowed 'Nymph's Kisses' to over 11,000 shipyard personnel, ... when they needed, little to no nap time(s). Anyway, it bothered me when I first read the chapter, especially when the Nymph's kissed so many of the lovely Maliris in a huge Hanger, with a hard floor (not a sleeping area), ... And as thin as Jade and her sisters divided that single (4 pints) load of Cum, I believe, what was shared was still more than Larn'kelnar's trace amounts in his new pledges tea cups. Just my thoughts on psychic cum sharing, and the 10K plus new wards for Edraele, that were walking around the shipyard the next morning, ... ;-) TTFN

Question, what did Faye see on the internal cameras shortly before the attack by Laern? Chpt120 1- My guess is the tracking device which allows Laern, then Rahn to follow the Invictus. 2- My hope is a fleeting shadow of Mad Jonah (chpt 1) who is in fact one of the last surviving original Kyth’faren. 3- My alternative is more evidence that Crystal Alyssium is changing under the influence of loving emotions. I’m interested in any other possibilities 4- The fourth wall is that she saw Tefler lounging about watching a holomovie instead of working.

.260: Well, 2ndA, what did our precious and perky purple pixie see, that was unusual enough that she wanting to tell John, but not pressing/critical enough to Need to tell him right away? If Larn or Tef related, it would have needed to be told of immediately, ... Mad Jonah, ... then Faye would need a checkup, for she had to be seeing things. No, she noticed something that could wait, but what? I want it to be something that could help to bring her back, but ... The best I can come up with, along those lines, is some probe/drone of Larn's that was using to record lots of Invictus's data/Intel, and she caught some strange energy readings, but mistakenly thought they were just something else, something benign yet interesting, like the glowing Crystal Alyssium, ... maybe, ... this would've been an early, first such sighting, ... ;-) TTFN

.267: ... a virtually unprecedented Heat Wave in the UK, no air conditioning for 95% of the population (info note: the UK is where our Author lives). So, uncomfortable for many hours of the day, stifling his creativity, ... also having brown outs and black outs playing havoc with the electrical supply. Electric fan sells jumped up over 1000%, wow! I am sure he wants to have already given us #154, and be ready with #155 shortly, but, ... he is living in interesting times. ;-) TTFN

Chpt 124 ends with the statement that the Brimorian invasion of the Callopean Shoals and the attack of the admiralty on Olympus (+Maria on Jericho) happening together was "a hell of a coincidence". We also know there's at least one traitor involved who was in Morgan's fleet, with Tom being patsy and several ex-admirals. My guess is that there's still a traitor in the admiralty, or very high up, though not in High Command, and that Celphna knows about it. Now that John is fully able to use telepathy, and knows that Nymphs are basically spies who report to telepathic commands by progenitors; I think we're set for a last moment surprise witness at the Tom Walker trial.

Prediction/mind experiment: The AI on Kythshara is not disabled and has rebuild most of the city and is ready to attack the next progenitor that arrives, as it was programmed to do. But, when the girls was in the lab on Kythshara, lets pretend they uploaded faye(memories) to the servers to check for comparability or something, the previously dorment AI reviewd the events and wondered how the AI, Faye, had such a deep bond with not only the human girls but also John, something made it create Faye from the files left by the girls (i hope they did atleast) so when John returns not only is Faye back, but we got a new, still to be proven, AI recruit.

I'm aware that everyone knows this already, so I'm just basically flushing out random thoughts. I never figured Tefler would go this far past the middle of the month before dropping the finished 154. I just guessed he'd do that absolutely as quickly as possible so he could drop some portion of the next one before the end of the month. At this point, that appears a difficult task. The heat wave thing seems an unlikely reason for the delay. They make portable coolers (room size capable), and I think I'd have one if needed in order to keep the funds flowing. So I hope all is well with him and his family, and look forward to seeing something this evening.

Perhaps there is another reason for tefler’s absence....europe’s holiday season ;-)...over here it is not exceptional to have a 3-weeks vacation...something unfantomable for most US citizens...despite my selfish wish for a quick release of chapter 154+...i fully understand that you cannot force an artist mind....perhaps a long holiday even lifts some writers block....time will surely tell

.314: (Hey, it's kind of-almost Pi), ... at about 4:30 pm on Saturday (Pacific time zone), the 30th of July 2022, TSM #154 dropped, just as I was dishing out a plate full of Spaghetti for an early dinner. So, it was15 minutes after the posting that I saw it, ... and at least a dirty dozen of Tef's other rabid fans got a jump on me, oh well, that's life.
