Three Square Meals - Chapter 156 (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

I wrote a number of additional scenes for chapter 155, which didn't work in the timeline and I had to chop them to get the ending I wanted for the previous chapter. I'll polish them up and edit them, but I should be finished with chapter 156 much faster than usual. 

I'll post this placeholder post here to spread out the monthly payments to include something in August.

I'm sticking. This is crumbs we are taking about. A large cup of coffee at 7 11, is going up to $3-00 to $4-00. Any half decent coffee is $7-00 plus here in Aus. I promise my Mrs & kids too stuff and break promises too. Enjoy the ride. Too many Karens & loose cannons now day. If you had 1% of the talent Tef has, well write your own story. All authors have writers block, timing issues, personal family time & needs. Get off his back & let him complete what I personally regards as a work of Art. Stop this endless whingeing. Tefler, 1. the story is epic, please continue as best as you can. 2. promise less and give quick updates during the time in between posts. 3. I'm not leaving, and if others leave, who will they complain to??

I will say it's bad pool to drop two promise posts on the last day right before the billing deadline. I know individually it's small dimes here but for a longtime Teflers family lived off of his writing. I don't know many of you that can afford to not get paid for a month. That is what Tefler was looking at. The issue now is between roofing costs and others Tefler needs some freaking inspiration to churn out 4 chapters in a month. That's not easy. But to get back to a cadence where he can focus and bring the standard two a month we are used to and his family is used to it seems only right. My willingness to pre pay is still there because it's small change to me. But I still shake my head at dropping two paid posts right at the last minute to get a check in the mail.

What’s all this talk about double-billing for chapters? I’ve checked, and confirmed that (at least for me) every chapter is billed and paid for once. This month, for example I was billed for two placeholders, but not for chapter 155, which was paid for last month based on a preview. Can anyone show that they’ve been billed more than once for a chapter?

… on the other hand, don’t take this to mean I’m ok with getting billed for placeholders and a promise. I said before that if Tefler gets more than a chapter behind I was going to leave - I’ll give it to the end of the month, and if he’s not caught up, and if we get billed for more than one placeholder, then I for one am gone. I like the story, but not the aggravation.

Tefler's habit of charging for content not yet published is getting tiresome. I'm not sure why he wants to "owe" us on "Tuesday" for content we've paid for today. I doubt Patreon or Tefler care, but I do. I once paid very well for each chapter, Back when he had roofing problems (I felt his pain since I had just gone through a hurricane) but I did limit my payments to once a month. Now I'm at the minimum, but I allowed two charges this month. I will change that. I now feel I'm being played by a once creative writer who has lost his muse but not his need for hamburgers.

Again, the solution to stop the bitching (myself included) is to only charge for complete posted chapters. If he wants paid monthly, complete a chapter monthly.

Sad to see this continue.. Best course of action is to limit my spend. I was never a large contributor like some, but I have been here through thick and thin.. I am afraid the violation of trust is too much. Sad to see a great story being run into the ground like this.

I like getting paid, just like all the others but I don't get paid for work I haven't done. That all I'm going to say, I am eager for 156, especially with how 155 ended and where it ended, and I want this next chapter out.

.36: -- FAYE!... her server was destroyed in TSM #120, and the crew and the collective held a ceremony for the passing of Faye in chapter #121, "Wounded Little Lion", that was in the Spring/early Summer of 2019 here in our 'real' world, ... and 35 chapters ago, ... now we can finally stop our tears, and rejoice in FAYE's return, I think, .... I know that Tef has a lot to explain, ... and I have my fingers crossed regarding any Tef Twist's, and trust that they will be benign. I truly want our precious and perky, purple pixie back, ... and would it too much to wish that she will have both an organic body, and an upgraded digital presence too (a sister sprite, perhaps?). Yes FAYE is going to be brought back to life. She is going to step out of her cloning tube and then die from a Disintegrating Matrix immediately giving her a second and permanent death.;-(

A question in regards to Fae's destroyed server and the collective. If the collective was not on Fae's server because obviously they didn't cease to exist. Therefore all the collective interactions with her still exist. They are files and not a 'human' memory. Therefore all those files could be used to shape the 'personae' of Fae, but immensely quicker in the cyber world instead of the slow time frame of the physical world. Or was it mentioned somewhere that they had a copy of her, but not the technology to reactivate her.

I think it’s a mistake to bring back Faye. I mean she is going to be a person if they bring her back this way but what will be her role? The computer person? Irilith is already in that role. Daphne has taken over directing the boys so she isn’t needed for that. She will be useless, just some poor little purple girl wandering aimlessly around the ship.

i do like the idea of an AI matriarch but i think that first off is her just adjusting to being a biologic. I think that she is still going to be an intergral part of the crew with her understanding of the creation and function of AIs. Possibly she could assist in the salvage or creation of an AI to replace the one that was in charge of the planet and maybe find a way to crack open the vault on Valaden

My understanding was that the incubation tubes were just for organics. Perhaps John can feed her up to be able to room the network like Illerith and split into several mind streems to take on multiple tasks in the network like the old digital Faye...?

Any day now Chapter 156 will come out and chapter 157 at the end of the month. If Tefler stays true to his word, this will happen. I hope for him it will, because reading a lot of the posts here, he will start loosing followers or people down-grading their membership hand over fist if he doesn't. I understand that Tefler works best under pressure. Well, the pressure is on. Stay true to your word or you will loose a lot of money. Just saying...

.103: On October of 2021, Tef dropped TSM #143 (complete), that's twelve chapters ago, ... granting that Tef will, this month, at least produce the complete promised chapters #156 and #157, then he will have shared with us 14 completed chapters this past year, ... He also had knocked out an extra-large chapter #150 (four regular size chapters long), as well as gifting us with the blueprints for the new raptor, ... plus going over 4 million words on Three Square Meals, so far. I don’t think any of us are saying he has not done chapters people are saying pre charging is not right by them we all love the story again some don’t like the pay now I will post later.

Look I don't care how many chapters he wrote this year, I care about getting what I pay for and don't believe in paying before I get it, plus this site has two strikes against it in my books and is dangerously close to a third. He is the only reason I use this site and I will not cry about not giving it any money.

.127: Well guys (and gals), this is the last day of summer, and we still have no 'early' released / dropped chapters yet, (but I am worried out here on the Left coast), ... I assume that TSM #156 and #157 will show at the months' end. But it's anyone's guess about chapter previews or place holders, however Tef needing to get paid, to support his family, has been requiring him to find a way to 'earn' about two payments a month, ... I hope that, unless he has gotten very productive this month, that he just asks for only one advance payment and not two this month, if / should he not have a whole TSM chapter #158 ready. But I do not know what money pressures he is under, ... any way, happy Autumm! ;-) TTFN

Based on the $8000 per chapter he was once at, 2 chapters per month is $16000 a month, or almost triple what the average person in the developed world earns. Good for him but he's taking the piss with this pre-charging nonsense.

.132: I expect TSM #156 and #157 will answer these questions: 1) I thought that the first 'clone' would be of Alyssa, for Athena, ... then Faye soon after, ... but Alyssa showed John an Incubation Chamber with 'Faye' inside at the end of TSM #155. Q: Is this 'Faye' body actually a Nymph clone? Alyssa was there on Kythshara, and Jade with her sisters were all with John on Genthalas Station, ... the Nymph Cloning cells came from? where? And does this PROVE that Mael'nerak developed the Nymph's in his laboratory after all? 2) The transfer of Faye's personality and memories, plus John giving the proto pixie the 'Spark of Life' will be a part of the next chapter or two, ... then it will be Athena next, (soon), ... Are they going to be tempted, or can they even, make clones of the Invictus crew for a reserve and for a backup for the possibility of a death or two, (including John?), ...? There is a lot of power and great responsibilities with this knowledge, (paraphrasing Stan the Man Lee), ... ;-) TTFN

Michael, The good standing wasn't lost because he wrote his desires and expectations, but because he has made a habit of pre-charging his supporters for work that he hasn't done & delivered, and for having no communication with us other than at the very end of the month. Pre-charging at the end of the month, saying he'll get caught up early, then finally getting caught up and pre-charging again on the last day of the month... this is what has become the expected routine. This isn't communication, this isn't living up to the expectations you give your supporters, and this isn't a proper way to treat the people who you rely upon.

So 156 and 157 should have some big scenes in them. 156) will answer the Faye questions and also will set up Maels defense turrets to target GK forces. Should be something with Zelig talking to Lynette. I firmly believe Tefler set us up for a twist with seeing Faye in the tank and John probably missed a cloned body for Athena laying off to the side. Giving Athena a body would put both Athena and Alyssa at full Kyth’faren strength like John. Chapter will end with them Jumping in front of the leading edge of thrall ships to deploy spider mines. 157) the battles will begin and maybe we will get a one liner from Calara, “For the Damocles!!!!”, before she unloads quantum flux cannon and Nova lances on the ships to destroy engines. There will be some cat and mouse action with Thrall fleets and Invictus leading them to Kyth’shara. Probably some issues with Lynette and high Command. Some Walker trial scenes. Maybe a few scenes of GK getting pissed off that John is disabling his fleets. Maybe he drains some for failing him. 50/50 chance John Challenges GK at end of chapter. Just my random thoughts 🤔😁😜🍺

You guys do realise of course that 156 is gonna be just a couple of weeks late because Tefler was impacted by the Florida hurricane. I don't know how he was impacted.... just that he was. I'm just getting that excuse out there first.
